Since I announced my hiatus on Twitter and also made a short video telling people the reason, I've gotten 2 MFC mails and one ask.fm message from guys who basically all said the same thing - that I should pull myself together, take my job more seriously, and keep working regardless of my emotional situation. That what I'm doing is unprofessional and I should be able to separate my private life and my cam life and not 'just stop camming because of some guy'.

What the heck? Do these guys work their jobs every week? NOOO. They take their 2+ weeks of vacation time just like everyone else in the world, I'm sure... Why is it that I hear so many models getting a hard time when they try to take time off?

I think people assume things (I'm doing it right now!). They look at their own lives or lives of people they know and think "well, when I went through a break up, I still had to go into work!" and they assume that everyone else will deal with things the same way they did and that everybody else's circumstances are the same as their's. They don't necessarily stop to contemplate whether they'd have still gone into work so soon after a break up if they were in a position where they didn't have to (as I'm assuming Lily is. See, I'm doing it again! I'm a hypocrite :? ). They also don't take into account that some jobs depend on the worker being (or at least appearing) happy and talkative and personable and that, if they're not, they might lose long term income in addition to not making money in the short term.

These people would do well to stop being selfish poopy-heads and let Lily deal with things in her own time and own way, yo.

I admit that I don't really don't go on cam sites too often. I don't feel pleasure in watching "shows". I like to go on and people watch. Mostly I chat or read the chats if they are intresting. I enjoy models who actually will go on cam and just end up showing off thier pets, clothes, talking about politics, religion, cars, singing, cleaning, basically life in general. I do have my favs in all groups. Even trannies. I even tip when the model doesn't undress. I don't feel the need for sexual gratification. The company that is kept is satisfying for me. I do watch melt downs from time to time. And there are a few models (very few) who constantly go balistic and have crazed moments of rage. Those are the ones I feel are annoying. But like watching a horror movie I keep watching until the model finally gets outraged enough to log off only to return later. UNFORTUNATELY there are viewers who feed on that. As we all know there are viewers who look for weakness in the models and explot it. These people are the most Annoying............... FAZZEL NAZZEL My phone rang and I answered it only to lose my train of thought now I have to run out of the house...... well I hope you all know what I'm trying to say. Hopefully I can remember what my point was...arg how annoying

Speaking of what Lily said about guys nagging her to get on cam (and I wonder how many of those dudes tip).....

What's funny is that if I make the mistake of yawning one time on cam (a yawn doesn't necessarily mean it's bedtime, by the way), someone will tell me that I need to log off and get some sleep. LOL. Who says I'm tired and ready for bed? I may be tired of y'all sitting there in silence, but I'm not going to bed when I log off of here. :) And if every model just logged off the moment she let out one yawn, we'd never make any money...lol.

Ive heard everything from "god, do you ever sign off woman?!" and "you need to work harder. You have a job with potential to make so much money, why aren't you on 24/7?!"

If I am feeling anything less than 100% my show bombs. Have enough bad shows, it makes me look bad. No one wants to hang out with the sleepy depressed person. The work may not be physically taxing, but the pressure from always having to act pleasant and provide entertainment/companionship for others is draining.

People who complain about that are probably the same kind who think mental illness is "all in your head" and the clinically depressed should just suck it up. Emotions are regulated by the chemicals in your brain. Sometimes that shit gets damaged or don't function normally. Whether its from the loss of a loved one, a stressful job or a shitty genetic error.

I think any MFC members who don't quite understand this should read the following article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_labor
Especially this part: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_ ... onal_labor
And the sources if you wanna go all medical on people's ass.

1. yah, pretty shitty for those dudes to say that. Wasn't needed at all.
2. Hate to break it to ya Jilly but not "everyone" has the luxury of being able to take vacations or time off.... and that's IF they're even offered with pay. When my boys were younger and I was single-parenting, it was almost 7 years before I actually took vacation time off.

:woops: Fer realz? I'm not usually one to jump all over peoples peeves but this is down right ridiculous.

I do song requests nights quite often. I'm insanely strict about never partaking in pirated material firstly, it's kind of my thing. Secondly, I highly fucking doubt anyone is tipping to hear that song. They are tipping to watch the model do what she does to that song.
Don't be silly. This is completely silly. This kind of silliness will make your life less enjoyable so you stop it now. :thumbleft:

If it's not pirated then it's of course ok. Just trying to make a point there. :)
I've been a stripper in about a million clubs. I have talked to lots of DJs, as well as worked at clubs where the strippers pick their own music. Many of my closest friends DJ at bars. They all take requests, get paid, tipped, etc. I can tell you with 100% certainty that chances are, if you are hearing music at a club, it's pirated, unless they are playing actual records. And at the very least, those that have bought the musical legally don't have the licensing to play it.

I have told bands that I like that I strip to their music, both in clubs then and on cam now. They've all been so amused that their music has been used in this way and had that sort of exposure. I'm not saying all of them like this. But, to me, it's paying homage to the talent.

I'm not saying it makes it legal. I'm just saying there is a huge difference between distributing music and only music illegally, at a profit, and playing a song on youtube to dance to in exchange for tokens. Like JJ said, what you're really paying for is watching the model do things to the music.

There's a really awesome documentary about copyright laws. RiP! A Remix Manifesto

It talks about how all art is based from something. Movies are written based on Shakespearean plays. Disney made a shit ton of money stealing the stories from old fairy tales. Essentially, if nobody could ever borrow art from someone else to make their own art, a lot of art would cease to exist, because naturally it builds upon itself. And if it was always paid for, it wouldn't exist because artists wouldn't be able to afford the rights.

I do that all the time, all the songs are played of youtube though and the tips are subtracted from the countdown for whatever show I have planned for the night.

I have also played & advertised guys that actually have their own band, to their own request.

I do this too! I have a guy who visits my room who will only tip when i charge 10 - 20 tokens for a song request. Keeps it interactive and fun :-D

A model not acknowledging a tip. I was guest perving and found a girl that caught my eye and signed on to throw her some tokens. She mentioned having a bad night and I thought she was entertaining (she was playing guitar). I had 20 tokens I wanted to give her, and decided to break them up into two 10-token tips to perhaps encourage others to join in. She had thanked others for their contributions (including 10-token tips) and I felt pretty jipped that she couldn't even smile/acknowledge mine. She just kept talking to the room, completely ignoring me, and going on about how she needed more tokens.

Needless to say, she did not get the other 10 and I left the room with a sour taste in my mouth.

Aww what a disappointment. :( I definitely see that there's a good feeling when you make someone smile. It's like giving a pretty girl some flowers. You expect her to smile, and to smell them, and hug you. But she just sighs and puts them in a vase.

I find it annoying to see a model simply sitting there and watching T.V. ignoring all chat. Except an occassional (this happens often to some models) "I ain't doing nothing until I get tips" or "I'll do something when I see people start to care" (not in those exact words, but you get the jist) I've seen models do this and left only to came back about half an hour later to see them still watching T.V.

Maybe she lives in a part of the world with mandatory vacation time. where I live, if you work at the same place for a certain # months your employer is required to give you x amount of sick and vacation leave and has to pay you a (teeny tiny) percentage of your wage.
I think the guys who get butthurt about girls taking time off just comes back to them not really understanding how much work really goes into it. They think its easy because we try to make it look easy.

It's most likely stalkers who feel that the model is their quasi girlfriend. It's weird if you do something in a sexual nature a person can think that they are in love when in actuality it's just more likely a moment of lust.

Hm, not in my case. It was really just 2 guys who are in my room every now and then and haven't tipped very much so far (each of them around 100-300 tokens I think....?)
And the guy on ask.fm was anonymous, so I have no idea who he was. He might have been a guest, for all I know.

People trying to tell a cam model when she CAN or CAN'T take off? :woops: Who do they think they are...the Chick-Fil-A manager or something?

*Chick-Fil-A came to mind because I could really go for a #1 meal right about now.*
chickfila_chicken-sandwich.JPG

I was literally just about a tip a model to partake in a game but wanted to know if she was still doing it because she was off camera. When she came back, she didn't reply or say anything at all anything before going private. :woops: Why would you not say goodbye to your room before accepting a private?

Another thing is the PM ambush. I've ventured into page 3 on myfreecams and it ain't pretty. You enter a model's room and (while the model's hands are busy dancing/playing/ect) you get a suspicious PM reading, "he bb, u like play wit girls?" and hear a male voice in the background. Oi. I need to hide my token balance or spend it all so they clearly see I have 0 tokens.

Yeah, I usually say "I'll be back, guys...going private" too. But a few times that annoying thing would happen where I'd hit the space bar and accidentally accept a private show request. :woops: I hate when that happens.

Ummm, I do.

Now let me 'splain.

I'm not going to tip for songs to some random model that happens to be doing song requests just to hear a song. But if a model I frequent is having song request night (or whatever you want to call it), then damn straight I'm requesting songs I want to hear. Sure, I'm going to tailor my requests to something she can seductively dance to, but, still, it's gonna be something I want to hear.

I'm gonna tip anyway, but if I can control the music, even better for me. I might as well like the music as well as the model. :-D

But, yeah, that's just me.

I'd say that music is the #1 thing that keeps me in a girl's room. It's the first thing I notice when I enter a room, and it's the first thing that provides me a "feel" for whether I want to stick around and see if the model's worthwhile to interact with. Even when the girl is charming and sexy, I've been driven away from rooms on several occasions solely based upon what's playing. I guess I'm a snob that way, but this is one of those situations where not all senses are totally engaged, so sound becomes more important than it might otherwise would be.

This all leads up to my real point, which is I'm willing to tip for song requests, as long as the tip amount isn't too high. One of my favorite models actually takes free requests all night whenever she's on, from whomever comes into her room, and that's the thing that got me to stick around. If anything, it's a good ice-breaker when the chat slows down, and it makes guys like me feel comfortable in a room, which I appreciate very much. And, like RogueWarrior, I do tip to hear that song. Something is really hot about having a beautiful woman dancing to a song you love.

This. Where I live every employer at least offers one week a year. I don't know if it's mandatory or not.

And I think Jessi hit the nail right on the head. Guys don't realize how much work camming is. I guess what I really meant to say is it seems to me a model's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. She can't stay on cam when she's upset/burnt out (members say they hate to see a model like that)... and many girls are accused of being lazy when taking time off, too. :( Where's the win in this situation?

No, I don't think that sounds snobbish at all. I think most models agree that members all have differing tastes, and are usually looking for someone they can interact with. I don't think it's rude at all to enter a room and leave. Yes, it disheartens me when people do that... But it's better than not even coming in to see what's going on. I could never blame a member for not staying. They don't do it to hurt me, they do it because they're looking for someone fatter, thinner, perkier, prettier, louder, quieter, or whatever!! :) And that's fine. I'm not trying to complain. xD I feel like this is coming off complainy but it's not. I don't think you sound snobby.

I'm wondering ... What is the "magic amount" that's acceptable to change the song to you? I've been considering doing this, as it seems I'm always frustrated with my playlist halfway through.

You don't sound complainy to me.

It's a good question, and I don't know if I know the answer. I do know that I'm shocked when I see girls asking 100 or more tk for song requests, but I guess they're popular enough to get away with it. Personally, I don't know if I'd pay more than 50, and I'd really have to like the song and the girl to go that high. I don't know if that means I'm cheap, but it just seems like it's one of those things that could be used as an incentive to keep smaller tips rolling in at a regular interval, instead of a more high-ticket offering. After all, most songs only last a few minutes, and there's going to be other activity going on over the music, you can keep your clothes on while fulfilling the request, and it doesn't have a lasting result, like shots or raffles. At least that's my reasoning. Take it as you will, and I'm sure others have differing opinions.

I think maybe I wasn't very clear, sorry. It still sounds like to me that you are tipping for the Ambiance created by the song, not just the song. If you really wanted to hear that song and that was truly what you were after, you could pull it up on youtube. You are tipping the model to perform to your favorite song, at that point it moves from just music to performance.
To me the fella seemed to take issue with models basically selling the music, though IMO that's not the case while she is performing. She is selling her performance and "song request" is easier to fit into our topic than "tip xxx to pick the song that I will then dance for you too!" <-- but that's especially what it is, just simplified.

my record tip for a song request was 100 tokens. and if you must know it was for the divnyls i touch myself, but the model looked so much like the girl that actually sang that song to me naked, while performing the act from the song on my lap that it was well worth it. now that i think of it there is a specific model who also looks a lot like that long ago ex. hmmmmm maybe if i save up some tokens and beg really really hard?

Well, yes, there's a certain context that's created that the song lives in for that situation, and no, it isn't simply to hear a song -- it is to hear a song associated with the model. However (and, I'm sorry, being an artist and publisher, IP law seeps from my pores) public performance of the song without permission is still infringement, especially when one is getting paid for it, so the complaint is technically accurate, no matter whether there's a certain new dimension to the performance or not. That's what music licensing is all about; it pays for derivative use just like this specific situation. If music publishers and musicians wanted to press this sort of thing against models, it would be their right, and I can't see a scenario wherein they wouldn't win the complaint. It really is a pretty clear-cut example of infringement.

BUT

I'm with you on this. There are certain things in culture that deserve legal leniency, and the distribution and use of art as a matter of incidental and everyday exposure is one of those things that I feel strongly should be included as one of those exempt things. I have very long-winded and complex reasons for this which would be interesting only to me, so I'll spare you. I'll sum it up like this: if a law exists that is written in a way that nearly everybody breaks it several times a day by just going about their normal business, it's a terrible law, and IP law in its current state pretty much does just that.

So, as far as I'm concerned, play your music, and take tips for it, and fuck the haters (unless the haters are lawyers, in which case the haters can go fuck themselves.)

I was just thinking about the legality of me even playing music in my chatroom today. I figured, thank gosh SOPA didn't pass. :p Many lovely models would be out of a job, since the whole site would have been shut down. Lol.

You know, I could see some record labels going after sites like MFC for allowing their models to play background music. Look at all the lawsuits involving YouTube for background music in videos there. I definitely agree with your second part about legal leniency in situations like this.

After SOPA, they tried PIPA. After PIPA, they tried another that I don't remember. Finally, a few months ago, I heard they passed a law that's basically SOPA/PIPA, but with a different name. They got it passed because they didn't let word of it get out, and because people were tired of fighting against something that they had said "NO" to so many times.

I felt like I had been legally raped when I heard that, but I don't know if it's true...

(There's a law against double-jeopardy court-cases. Why the hell is it okay for the government to try again and again and again to pass a law that everyone has said "DON'T DO THIS!" to?)

LadyLuna said:

It's not true. I'm pretty confident that I would have heard of it (and just to make sure, I just checked the archives of some of my sources, to see whether or not I missed the biggest legal story of the century.) This isn't something that can be quietly passed at this point. There are too many vigilant sentinels out there keeping watch for just that sort of activity for it to go unnoticed and unannounced the instant it happens, and there's too large of an activist body for news like that to be announced without it becoming a firestorm. After all, we're talking about putting a leash on the very nature of how media and the internet works.

There are some bills that have been introduced that would perform much of the same functions that SOPA/PIPA would have, but do understand that bills like that are introduced often due to a large content publishing lobby with very deep pockets, and there's a process for a bill to go through in order for it to be ratified into law, a la I'm Just a Bill; just as the song says, most of them don't even make it to the debate stage, let alone the vote stage. SOPA and PIPA were so sensational because they made it so far. Now, there is an incredible amount of legal activity going on regarding the distribution and use of IP, but it is definitely a battle that is being defined in the courts, and not by statute at this time. And you can be sure that, if it had become a law, the fallout would have begun immediately and publicly as websites would have been taken down and charges pressed.

EDIT:

Come to think of it, LadyLuna, you may be thinking of the so-called "Six Strikes" policy that will be enacted by certain major ISPs. However, that's self-policing on their part, based upon the rules set forth by the DMCA, which has been around for nearly 20 years now, and is not a new law. It still sucks, will probably not work out well, and is just kinda weird, but it isn't a new law. Just so you know.
