So... yeah. Might be losing my job because they found out I’m camming and they had to go to “head office” to ask if it’s ok that I’m doing it?
Nowhere in the contract does it say I can’t do this. Nowhere does it say that I can’t have another job either... so why all the fuss?
Discrimination? I just don’t know what to do. I’m not stopping this because I am the happiest I have ever been and I refuse to give up something that’s improving my mental health!
Maybe I just need to let it go and try my best at making this work. Being a new model is hard and I’m not earning nowhere near enough yet to cover the loss of money from this place kicking me out!

Any kind of advice would be amazing because my head is all over the place right now. ❤️

I'm sorry bb. Hugs. You night want to talk to a lawyer on this.

If you lose your job, it won't be the end of the world. It will suck, but you will be okay.

The bad thing is I’ve got nothing to fall back on I was using it as a security blanket. I can’t work a normal job because I’m sick and when I’m too poorly to cam I was doing this on the side to keep things going. The only way I can see this working is if I make a lot but as a new model I’m not. X

how many sites are you on? are you just streaming? you can make this work, you got it.

also if they fire you, you maybe able to collect unemployment for sometime since you aren't making enough camming to live on.

I’m only on MFC at the moment trying to build an audience on there, because I don’t do sexual acts it’s been more difficult.
I’m in the UK so I don’t currently qualify for it unfortunately! X

You could make non-sexual fetish VIdeos and sell them on clips4sale. A lot of us earn a living selling only videos.

I don't understand are you on medical leave from your primary job or have a medical disability that limited the jobs you can do? If your working any other job while taking medical leave from another they usually get salty about that when they find out.

I’ve got a medical disability so I struggle to get out most days. No one in their right mind would employ me I’m so unreliable!

I'm so sorry, I know this has to be so stressful! If you dont mind talking about sexy stuff, or fetish stuff, you can totally have a phonesex/text as another egg for days that you do not feel good enough to cam. I have a chronic illness, and can only cam maybe 2 days a month, and I've made phone work my second egg. Sending hugs to you!

It may be worthwhile to add in a couple shifts a week on Streamate - there's a decent audience there for non-explicit models.

I think his question had to do more with if they could argue your skipping work to do another job.

Not sure about U.K. job laws especially with your being on disability. Clips are great for passive income. I really need to step that up myself. Sextpanther is good for when you’re not feeling so good but still make money per text/pic/vid. Always try split camming to multiple sites at the same time. If one site is slower another usually picks up slack. Many split cam between chaturbate and MFC as well as others. Just be mindful of privates if you do that.

I'm not familiar with the various laws, and especially so about other countries or states. But, by chance do you know if there's anything in the employee handbook (if one exists) about morality clauses or personal conduct outside of work? Some jobs have this either in a contract, or documented that you cannot be involved with illicit or questionable behaviour that could cause harm to the company's reputation. If you're unsure, I would get a copy of the employee handbook, rules, etc and see if you can find any reference to it. If it's in there, that's their way out.

With a chronic illness, and it's documented with your employer's HR as a medical condition, they may not be able to terminate employment based on performance solely due to medical. However, if they can find another reason to terminate a job, many employers go that route and don't have to deal with legal repercussions.

Reading this stuff makes me rage. Even if you did sexual acts, but you don’t even! Fired cause you’re on a cam site. What the fuck. Get those bastards

I think it is very abusive from your employer. How did they find out you were camming? Do they have actual proofs? I would focus on the "legal" part of the problem, you aren't doing anything illegal so if they fire you, you could sue them!

Lots of kisses and hugs and positive vibes for you :-*

I am not from the UK, I am from Australia, so I am not an expert on the law there... But very broadly speaking the UK and Australia have similar laws in relation to employment law.

I can say that any disciplinary action that they would bring against you would definitely be illegal in Australia, unless it specifically stated in your employment contract that you were not able to have a second job without their prior consent. There could also be a clause that you can't bring the company into disrepute (although it would be up to them to show that your actions had done that...).

The issue might be that you are working while on disability. They might claim that if you are fit to work as a cam model, why can't you work for them. Without knowing what you circumstances are it is difficult to comment on any potential outcome.

The best bit of advice I can give you is to document everything, take detailed notes on all conversation and correspondence you have with them... If this issue proceeds further, it is often the person that can produce the better records that can win the day.

Don't let yourself be bullied or pressured into anything. You are allowed to bring people in for meetings with your employer and never sign anything without taking it away and getting some independent advice.

As mentioned before get some legal advice, you should be able to get this free and anonymously. Again I am not from the UK, but this place might be a good start http://acas.org.uk

Good Luck!

Thankyou for everyone’s replies they’ve been really helpful. I’ve been in contact and they don’t have a leg to stand on because it’s not in the contact so they are leaving it “as long as I don’t mention company names while doing this” 😂

Such a relief. To be honest though as soon as I’m making enough to leave I will do. I don’t want to be part of a company that makes such a fuss.

Going to do some research on streammate now is it similar to MFC? X

Not really. Streamate is a private based site so no below the belt nudity or shows in free chat and you make most money from doing 1 on 1 or group shows vs tips. There is a decent market for non nude models so check it out.

How did they find out you cam? Were you discussing it on the job or with others?

A small word of advice, avoid doing anything camming related while at work. Like don't even check or respond tweets, have notification for that stuff off while working etc. That kind of stuff. Companies love using stuff like that as an excuse to fire someone, doesn't matter what line of work it's in, but especially if it's self employment related. If they perceive that you've used one iota of a moment for that, they'll blow it up.

Anyway, hope things go well for you on MFC and that you can leave that place soon!

Sounds like you have it sorted out now, but so you know for the future, in the first two years of employment a company can let you go for almost any reason that doesn't contravene equality and discrimination laws and you cannot claim unfair dismissal unless for a reason that is "automatically unfair" . After that they open themselves up to unfair dismissal claims if they don't follow correct procedure or dismiss you for an illegal reason.

You also have plenty of rights, such as the right to a private life (article 8 of the ECHR enacted in our law as the Human RIghts Act), which plenty of Human Resources people don't seem to know (it's the thing that makes "no dating co-workers" rules in contracts / company handbooks illegal and unenforceable here in most occupations). As a previous poster said, if you need proper legal advice at any point, in the UK Myles Jackman has a long history of both representing sex workers and others in cases where pornography is a key part of the case, and in campaigning or related issues (have a read about the R v Peacock case for an example).

The government website is a good starting point: https://www.gov.uk/dismiss-staff , though it should never be absolutely relied upon as a substitute for legal advice. I've found mistakes and oversimplifications on it before, particularly relating to motoring law.
