You missed the entire point. It was not about names. That was just a simple example of lying vs. maintaining privacy.
Re-read the post. I edited it. If you still don't understand after that, can't help you.No. I think you have missed the point about camming.
Maybe perhaps the internet in general really.
I'd suggest reading books in your spare time instead but all of those pen names authors use will probably upset you.

To spell it out for the slow:
A cam girl has a screen name, HotBabe_. Obviously fake. A member asks her what her real name is. Usually one with that kind of name will give something more name-like to call them.
They have a few options:
1. Tell them to call you HotBabe, even though it's awkward.
2. Give a fake name, and tell them it's fake. "Just call me Julie, it's not my real name, but everybody calls me that"
3. Give them a fake name, tell them it's real. "Julie". "Is that your real name?". "Yes".
4. Give them your real first name.
Only one of those options requires lying. 3. Get it?
there are some who end up dating regulars, and some who marry them, as Miss_Lollipop told you. Some reveal more about themselves, some less. Some scam and manipulate, some don't. It's a big world, full of variety.
This is confusing because camland relationships are so fuzzy the limits of things are not always so clear so we can be talking about way different things here.
My two cents: it depends on how intimate the model pretends to be with her members. Example:
Model A has a high energy room with 1000s of viewers. She discourages 1 on 1 contact, doesn’t do private shows and rarely PMs with members for more than 10 minutes and a light conversation. She lies about being bisexual, tells fake stories about going camping with her girlfriends and getting an oil massage from her friend Stacy that turned into a make out session. She also tells the members she works a day time job at a nursery because she wants them to imagine she is a normal girl they could meet any day. This fantasy is in my opinion harmless and makes her show more entertaining to watch. I would take this 100x over a camgirl who tells the truth about being married and spending her free time watching TV and eating nachos.
Model B has a small room of 5 hardcore regulars. She encourages 1 on 1 contact. Spends all day talking to her highest tippers on Kik trying to get them to spend more. She lies about wanting a real life boyfriend, about having financial problems and being exploited by her studio to ask them for money. She lies also about wanting them to visit her in her home country and wanting to visit the US to see him. Asks for money for flight ticket that she never buys. Tells the member she loves him with all her heart. This I do consider harmful.
Now... is harmful/harmless the same as honest/dishonest? No. Everyone in camland is dishonest by default, that is precisely the allure. Models have leniency to create a character that is as far or as close to reality as they want and adorn it as much as they want to be attractive, entertaining and delicious and members have leniency to lie about their lives and present themselves as the man they wish they were. That’s seduction.
I think Joe is jacking himself off under the desk to all this attention and free reign to shit on models without engaging in any meaningful discussion.
she's not likely to hold a lot of loyal regulars with it once they realize she's constantly making stuff up.

Come on, man... Miss_Lollipop's exact words (about marrying him) were "This is incredibly rare." I had a feeling you were gonna read her post, and get all hopeful and shit. Lol. Stop it...
I've realized that telling some of you guys to "Stop wasting time on cam sites, and stick to dating sites" is probably pointless, since you tend to "want what you can't have." But y'all need to chill with the emotional, lovey-dovey shit on MyFreeCams, man. Damn. Get a puppy.
You are basically asking models to break the 4th wall. A fantasy is only entertaining as long as it is plausible. If “Julie” tells her members “call me Julie but it’s not my real name” The whole illusion she worked so hard to create for her members is gone. Nobody wants this. This is like going to a Mission Impossible movie and getting mad because Tom Cruise isn’t pausing to look at the camera and tell the audience: hey! My life is not really in danger ok? I am an actor, this is just a movie and I am wearing a harness.” Maybe to you it’s dishonest not to say it but the audience appreciates the effort to mantain the illusion that the movie they are watching is real. And before you school me on the differences between a movie and a cam... movies even do it with “based in a real life story” cases. Have you read the actual story of Erin Brockovich? Have you seen a pic of the real flesh woman the movie is supposedly based on? The resemblance is so faint it’s like an entirely different story. Who cares? The real Erin Brockovich story is one nobody would want to watch. And yet for the audience believing the movie is based on the real thing adds a layer of excitement to the experience. So why not use it? You go there to be entertained.
Yeah. Camming is not a movie. You answered your own post.
That's cute that you think that.
I better alert a number of top models their hustle doesn't work.
@Joeternal misplaced ego like getting mad when a cam girl doesn't tell you her real name? Or how the girl you're paying to fulfill your desires doesn't *gasp* actually feel the same way you do, that she's just doing her job of giving you the attention that you're paying her for? And you get so emotionally invested you're now trolling a camming forum about the whole ordeal?
Why? Because it’s interactive? There are theater plays where the audience is part of the play. Do you get mad at the actors too for wearing a costume?
*GASP*
You mean aunt Carol from the dinner theater I went to last year might not have been the aunt to the two younger people?
THE SCANDAL. ALERT THE AUTHORITIES.
Yeah, I have some shocking news for people who like taboo porn.

SHUT IT DOWN. SHUT THE WHOLE DAMN THING DOWN.
Yes, all cam girls are the greatest prize a guy could get, no baggage whatsoever, totally loyal and trustworthy, and we're all desperate to go out with you.
Dishonesty is one pet peeve. Misplaced ego is another.
