  Actually, I'm inclined to agree with Bawksy..... In case you folks aren't aware or live in some sort of bubble,
this is April 1.. aka:
April Fools Day.
Before we all decide to gang rape "Mikey", perhaps we should chill and take a moment to ponder the situation.... just sayin... :confusion-shrug:

Yeah, it was an April Fool's prank...one that's been going on for months. Go check his twatter and blog. Then let us know how funny the prank is.

Exactly.

If it was an April Fools joke, then it was pretty much the worst apology ever.
Also, I can't really imagine Amber being down for Jawbs doing this for... laughs.

I don't think Jawbs would go that far for an april fools, and I think Amber would kick his ass lol.

Mikey must have been watching from the sidelines as a guest or under a new name the whole time imo, which is how he knew she was going for top 20 - and also why he can't get over this shit

Must have been drunk because JJ is right - it's fucking embarassing, and not even close to true.

I've never gotten that into April Fools Day, but this year seems to be dumber than usual. Most of the sites I've seen gags on have put the fact that it's an April Fools gag after an inch or two of blank space or even in the headline of the article itself. It's just dumb.

Mikey, you need help. Serious, professional help. No, I'm not trying to troll you here, I'm being sincere.

We all know you were in love with Amber. There's not a person who was around and visited Amber when you still frequented her room that would have thought otherwise. It was bad enough back then. But apparently you're still in love with her. You can't get over her, and because you can't be to her what you once were (Or what you ever wanted to be), it's killing you, and you're lashing out at her. You can try to deny it all you want, but you can't fool me. So please, please, if for no one else but yourself, get some help

I'm not even going to dignify the specific content of your message with a response

>>> Realy, who says that? I have ALWAYS had better taste from Organics that 'hot house' or 'chemical cocktail farm' produce. It's also why I got rid of the lawn in the back and made it full raised bed gardens. It's sometimes a pain to maintain, but the flavors of vine ripe organic produce can't be beat. :thumbleft:

hate to come into daily thoughts and be all like, RANTY RAWR IN THE FACE, but you know. :woops:

LOL I cant believe people still ask me this... I've had cashiers ask me "why you buy all this organic stuff? does it taste any different? the apples are smaller than the regular apples."

i'm just baffled! Well, for starters, organic farming doesn't destroy topsoil over thousands of acres and leak bazillions of tons of chemicals into groundwater. Organic farming doesn't pollute the gene pools of important food plants with GMOs unable to reproduce and susceptible to disease, which in turn requires more pesticides and fungicides, which in turn... ET CETERA.

For continuers, how about organic meat practices that prohibit synthetic hormones, antibiotics and god knows what else is in regular animal feed... humane slaughter.. and humane living conditions for the animals we raise for food. I mean come on, doesn't anyone read, watch or care about that?

honestly, does no one realise this stuff?? It seems like common sense to me. I'll admit I don't buy everything organic all the time...... but really, every dollar you spend is a vote. So lets like, vote for smarter agriculture. :idea1: :p crazy, i know.

Also.. It's soooo true, when you grow it yourself and pick it fresh, it tastes insane. The sharp crisp smell of a growing tomato vine, it sticks to your hands and it practically gets you high as Mork said!

MMMM I CANT WAIT UNTIL i get to start eating my own veg and greens again, damn its so delicious. this year i am going to try my hand at growing button and oyster mushrooms! super excited. last year i had to move in august, so my entire garden was in pots. this year i have SO MUCH SPACE. my landlord is going to be very surprised when he comes by for our yearly. heheheheh.

Yeah, being in the top 20 in many tens of THOUSANDS of girls is totally "average." she's only on that list cause she's dishonest and ungrateful. :snooty: :snooty:

First i would like to point out that for us camgirls, we have to give extra attention to people who help us the most financially. I like to chat with everyone and skype with them and whatever, even if they dont tip me often/currently, but honestly, I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THEM ALL. and i'm only a lowly 2Ker.  so, basically, screw you ! She has to take care of those who take care of her! plus she has to take care of the forum, AND, she has to take care of the rest of her life OUTSIDE of the camworld, or else she will lose her mind! If I don't have time to mollycoddle every whiner that's ever tipped me, Amber certainly doesn't.

Secondly, geez dude, just take a hint from the rest of everyone here and dont be doin' this. Go expend your energy elsewhere, on something more productive. There are many exciting things you can do with your time such as reading books, climbing mountains, studying stuff, perving on pretty ladies, going for a walk, cooking dinner, writing a script, researching and participating in activism or education for causes you feel strongly about, or activities that you enjoy. i personally recommend gardening, comic books, throwing paint at things, building things, and volunteering.

i know i 'dont know the whole story' and blah blah blah but i think i have two valid points above.

ummm in other news....??? Jolene has stated she will not bite my head off if i do a projector show, so i must test out some locations now. HOORAY! that and i should really get those shallots and artichokes in their pots.

This reminds me of the first time I bought a tomato at a Farmers Market. I'm not sure whether the tomato was organic or not but I sliced it up and before making my salsa I decided to taste test it to see if there was any difference. Boy was there a difference! My immediate thought was "oh this is how tomatoes are supposed to taste". I could have eaten it like an apple without adding anything to it. Ever since having that experience, store bought tomatoes just taste flavorless, so i'm going to try growing my own this summer :-D

With the mild winter here, I was able to get a nice start. Already have onions a few inches tall, potatoes showing leaf, tomatoes are about a foot tall, and garlic and horseradish both showing well at about 6 inches tall. Corn went in last week, beans as soon as the corn sprouts and then the squash. The herb garden is still undecided. Have plenty of fresh dried from last year. Flowers and Blue Bonnets will be seeded tomorrow or the next day.
maybe we need a "Garden Chat" thread... :-D

Agreed, organic stuff is pricier but waaaay tastier.

The more we buy it, the more people will produce it, and it will get cheaper over time! Vote vote vote lol

That's true, I think also though it's because organic producers have to be audited and fulfill quite a few requirements to be legally allowed to sell their stuff as organic - which is good because it keeps quality up and stops non-organic farmers from cheating into the market - but it also means added work and expense.

The difference between the farmers market and the supermarket is less that the supermarket is not organic - but rather, one's imported and one's not. Imported fruits/veg must be picked prematurely to avoid spoilage, so tomatoes and bananas are picked pretty much in a 'raw' state, and matured artificially using gases.

It also explains why things taste better in season - because without requiring things to be shipped from the other side of the earth means that the fruit/veg can be picked ripe before being sold to you.

EDIT - Oh, and buying more organic food means a massive boom in average food prices by the way. The yield is so much lower that to replace normal produce with organic produce when its unnecessary would simply force farmers to produce less for the sake of those who can afford it. Its not a financial constraint - its a physical limitation on the crop.

Not always just imported either, chain supermarkets often require green (as in unripe) fruit so they can ship it around the country, has a longer shelf life so they can sell it, etc etc.

Another thing, my grandfather (who was an orchardist for 50 years) said that strains that taste good had been increasingly less desirable to supermarkets compared to ones that LOOK good. Even now, when I go stay at my grandparents there's always boxes of peaches, plums, nectarines, apricots, apples passed around the community because if they have the slightest mark or blemish - the markets won't buy them.

But yeah, a lot of fruit these days are basically bred for looks over taste.

Over the years I have had several conversations on this topic and one thing that always kept cropping up was that many people could not accept the difference in taste being justified by the difference in price when comparing organic and non-organic produce. Personally, I think a lot of peoples taste buds are somewhat dulled by never having eaten good organically grown food in their lifetime. They have been used to the standard supermarket fare for so long, probably since childhood, that the difference between non organic and organic does not even register.

When I was a kid my dad grew all our own veggies and fruit in our garden. We had potatoes, cabbage, lettuce, turnips, onions, carrots, raspberries strawberries and rhubarb and others... all grown with no pesticides nor fertilisers other than mulched grass cuttings from the lawns. It was how food should be grown and it tasted great. We also bought fresh milk and eggs from the farm 100 yards up the road... not pasteurised either and it did us kids no harm!

About ten years back I discovered a great range of organic potatoes in my local supermarket... I gave them a shot and with the first bite it was a WOW moment... as if I was suddenly 10 years old again and having dinner at our old house. Potatoes that tasted like potatoes should... I had all but forgotten that taste and I have not bought non-organic spuds since then.

Today I can look out into my garden and those of my neighbours... in 11 gardens around me.... not one has any vegetables or fruit growing. Most houses these days don't even have lawns... but lots of gravel, paving, decking, patios... all concrete and astroturf (yeah I know plastic grass.. what folk will do for a perfect garden huh?).. and the few who do have lawns spray the bejesus out of them so there are no daisies, clover or other natural flowers growing in them. Yeah... 'cause we know them flowers in our lawns are unsightly eh... wtf!! No wonder the bees are in trouble. If the lack of flowers making it hard for them to gather pollen was not bad enough, we are spraying said flowers with herbicides and weedkiller to get rid of them, which gives the poor bees brain damage. The bees are on our side... they need our help as much as we need theirs.

I agree with the point about the visual condition of fruit being important to people who buy from supermarkets, as after all we buy more with our eyes than our other senses... if what is on the shelf does not look good then we tend to pass by. Image is everything... even for fruit and veg. Buying in season always helps keep the transport miles down too... but not when you want to have some juicy strawberries in January.

Sadly it is true that the lower yield on organic will result in consumers having to pay a higher price if smaller amounts are harvested... prices are always set by demand and supply. Intensive farming methods exist because of a need to feed the planets population and at a reasonable cost. However we also need to address how we consume food. It is said we in the UK throw away around £680 worth of food per family household each year... an eye watering £12 billion (estimated 7.2 million tons) worth of food is binned. In a world of 7 billion souls and rising, which is struggling to feed everyone as it stands just now, that is a criminal waste of food.

Mmm , I love fresh dug potatoes !! skins so tender and fresh you can push them off with your thumb. Cant wait !!

Bees.. Yes. What amazes me is that nobody seems to have thought or gives a shit WTH is going to happen when there are no more bees. The good folks at Bayer Labs with their nicotine based pesticides literally cause the bees to forget what to do or where they live. They just fly off and die which very soon kills the hive. I suppose this gives the folks at Monsanto drive to develop more GMO self pollinating food crops ....

Image.... fruits, camgirls and everything else. We have become such a shallow visual society. :woops:
