Hi,

I have only been camming for just under 2 weeks under the self-employed route. I am already registered as a writer with HMRC so I was just wondering what steps I need to take now to register as a 'model', if I need to take any at all. The main problem is, I don't want any future employers to look into my records and see that I'm a 'model' for this camming company because then it will be blatantly obvious. Is there any way future employers can find this out? Could I even register as another "writer" for this company? I'm just really scared future employers will find out by looking at my tax records.

Thanks xxx

Erm, okay, not fully versed in UK matters for tax. However, self employed is self employed. Declare what you want, just make sure you declare your income and other stuff correctly. That's about it.

Also, they shouldn't be able to get your employment history from HMRC as that'd be personal data for which they have no business looking into. No-one would ask for references when applying to jobs if it were simply a case of asking HMRC what they did.

You dont need to change anything. You are still self employed so dont list 'employers' anywhere because you dont have any. When its filing time it may ask for your business type, most put sales and marketing which is what it is.

I have always stated I am an entertainer. I don't think you have to go into detail so long as what you're doing is legal, but you might want to have something to explain why clothes, make-up, internet, electricity and rent etc are being charged as expenses.
