I’ve been trying to explain this to my best friend for awhile now. She is from Russia, half her family still lives there and I know she just wants an end to the Ukraine-Russia war. However, she doesn’t see how what Trump is doing is awful for our international relations.
America under Trump’s administration is unpredictable and untrustworthy. If there is ever a war at our doorstep, I don’t see any of our allies getting involved after what Trump has done. Not to mention trading and importing/exporting goods.
I’ve been trying to avoid politics as much as possible, because I’m already super stressed out which is causing me to be sick and I don’t need any more stress making me more sick. But, it’s hard to totally avoid it, especially when something happens like the meeting between Trump and Zelensky (and the man child Vance) today.
As a Brit, America’s always going to be cool. We know all about Trump and his political stance.

For sure. Trump behaves as if we’ll always have the upper hand. It’s a byproduct of the life’s he’s led, where he constantly gets away with major fuck-ups and never suffers a serious consequence from it.
Forcing a desperate country to do as we say is morally reprehensible, but also foolish. People will remember. What happens in 5, 10, 20 years when we need help and nobody answers the call?
It wouldn’t even have to involve war or trade. A natural disaster could do it. Can’t tariff your way out of that.

Yes and no. Generally speaking, the idiots who voted for this clown are not known for travelling so when we encounter Americans in the wild over here we tend to assume they are somewhat more educated. Trump's fan base display the kind of myopic worldview that can only come from spending their entire life no more than 2 miles from where they were born.
