That's been a favorite subreddit of mine for a long while lol, not so new but fantastic irony.
Haha.. I'd never heard of it but it heavily started getting recommended in my feed a week or so ago

100% this.

When the middle class becomes all but obsolete. When people have to start selling off all their assets just to afford groceries and rent/mortgage. When their family members, loved ones and children start dying because they cannot afford healthcare. When they are forced to work 2 or more jobs on top of the job they currently work just to survive.

If there's one thing people care about more than culture war stuff, it's money. Fuck with someone's money and you'll see just how quick they are to turn on you.

And if there's one thing Trump has proven time and time again over the many decades he's been in the public eye as a businessman, it's that he's not a good businessman and terrible when it comes to anything money related.

Once most of the middle class Americans are living in poverty, I think that's when a lot of Trump supporters will start to turn on Trump. Anything short of that, nope. He's insulted them time and time again, calling them uneducated and essentially calling them sheep. They cheered. He's degraded and tried (and has) stripping away the rights of people his followers do not like or think is beneath them. They cheered. He's lied again and again and again and all his followers did was make justifications and excuses. Literally, nothing short of Trump making their lives unliveable will cause them to stop blindly following him.

And honestly, I truly believe that time will come. But the damage will be almost beyond repairable at that point.

Something else I've been wanting to vent about:

I think what really pisses me off (well, let's be real, it all pisses me off) is the fact that every single Republican/conservative I know is all about "l3sS g0v iNt3rVEnti0N", yet they fucking jizz themselves whenever there's blatant government overreach that hurts people they don't like or agree with. Because when it comes to abortion rights, women's reproductive rights, trans rights, gay rights, etc they're all like "Yes, big daddy government, do your thang". Party of small government my ass.

A dark-horse candidate for something else that could de-program a lot of cult members quickly: a natural disaster where the government fails to adequately help the people impacted.

There aren’t many geographic locations in the U.S. these days are aren’t at risk for something - hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods, and so on. And the way this administration is haphazardly gutting agencies it doesn’t agree with (which may include FEMA), there is a very, very good chance that multiple cities over the next 4 years are going to find themselves devastated, and with zero government assistance (or excessively slow and underfunded government aid).

So the Administration paid $2mil to major movie producer Michael Bay to produce a US Secret Service recruitment video to air during the Superbowl. (the airtime was apparently "donated")
DOGE should look into that.

Earthquakes.

Yep I have a very strong feeling that this is in our collective futures. It's very scary, and all we will have is each other to lean on for help.

A lot of people are going to experience a lot of psychological trauma and loss, from these more frequent natural disasters. It's very very scary.

Not to even mention if we have another epidemic like COVID.

Don't forget the massive Supervolcano under Yellowstone. Between an eruption and the resulting ash cloud it is estimated half of the people in the northern hemisphere could die.

I've had a huge oak tree fall and crush part of my house during a hurricane.... TWICE! Two different hurricanes.
I've paid for my therapists new house.

Thanks. I'm monitoring all of that stuff closer than ever.

I'm even staying on top of weather in Florida these days. I'll add Yellowstone to my list to research and watch on it.

I've been focused on The Big One (cascadia subduction zone earthquake) which could happen anytime, and take out a lot of the coastal regions in the NW.

Not openly political, but certainly overtly political in its meaning within contemporary US culture, happy Big Game Day!

The most bald-faced celebration of nakedly-capitalistic American jingoism there is. We may not have military parades, but we more than make up for it with the Super Bowl. It fucking beats the 4th of July at this point. Can't even call it the Super Bowl, because it's trademarked. Watching the steady subversion of a football game into what it's become really gives a microcosmic perspective of how we got where we are in the US.

Everything is terrible, and has been for a long, long time.

The number of voters that said they want to leave the country but that think they can just pick any country to permanently live is ridiculous.

"Should I permanently move to Switzerland?"

Angry Lilo And Stitch GIF
Reminds me of when they interviewed people during the brexit campaigning, they said they were voting to leave the eu and then the next question the answer was they wanted to move to spain... like those two things dont go together 😂

I'm pissed off that he's at the Superb Owl. First sitting president in US history. On any normal Superb Owl security is enormously tight -- we're talking snipers in areas you'd never dream you could stuff a human being and I'm not that big of a football fan anymore, but with his dumbass there? With Secret Service...nearby businesses had to be scouted and are probably closed during what is the BIGGEST tourism event of the year? ASSHOLE.

i got into a bit of a tiff with my neighbor over the elon seig heiling. i asked him if he doesnt think it's that, please post a video of yourself doing it on facebook.

he said "no because people will say i'm a nazi."

👁️👄👁️

Good grief! Well we know that Trump “loves the poorly educated.” SMH.

being in florida and having on average a hurricane hit us per year. I'm terrified. so many of us floridians depend on fema, not just costal communities. qualified for fema funding this year in central florida with the damage we had. we had so much flooding to deal with weeks after the storm.

Nooo holy shit imagine if that happens again while tyrannical tangerine is in office.

MAGA will be 1000% convinced it's fabricated to make him look bad.

Omfg I didn't even think about that.
JFC can't we just ship them all off to Mars with Elon, then go no contact?

Fuck me - you're right and all, that's exactly what they'd be thinking and saying 🤦‍♀️

It all goes back to the first couple steps in the brainwashing process. Discredit sources of truth so you can lie openly, and build a convenient boogeyman to blame for anything bad that happens.

They’ll blame literally anything on the “others” (which is really an interchangeable entity at this point… anyone that doesn’t look, act or vote like they do).

I have a lot of friends on my personal Instagram and Facebook accounts that are in the service industry in New Orleans. Nothing is closed from what I can see and the quarter is packed. Granted, the superdome isn’t in the French quarter, but there’s not a ton of bars like… right next to the superdome, but everywhere people do like to drink/party is within walking distance and they’re absolutely not going to be closing for the Super Bowl during Mardi Gras season. Hell, they only postponed the Sugar Bowl by a day after the New Year’s terrorist attack. As someone who lived in New Orleans for 30 years and worked downtown and on Bourbon street for seven years, New Orleans is going to make their tourist money no matter what.

I did see someone post about a “Donald Trump is not welcome here” rally/march, but I haven’t seen any actual footage of it yet.

Who would be the next Dr. Fauci?

I don't blame Biden for giving him a "just in case" pardon because they're out for blood on him no matter if they have to fabricate stories to try and incriminate him.

HAHA. I fucking love it. 😂 Plus I was born and raised in PA during the first 10-11 years of my life. I, personally, don’t watch football, but I have a lot of family and friends who are Eagles fans. So I’m happy to hear they are the SuperBowl champions. GO, EAGLES!!!

They totally wanted to crucify Fauci. They’ll never stop trying, honestly.

This country is going to end up with nothing but unqualified political operatives in vital roles, because the true experts and professionals won’t want to deal with this shit badly enough to accept a government role.

@Marceline

All businesses along the route of a President or Foreign Dignitary's motorcade are closed or temporarily closed until he or she leaves the area.

I just looked it up and it seems like he came in from Belle Chasse via the interstate (Belle Chasse is on the other side of the river, so they would have had to take the GNO, and it would make zero sense to get off at the first exit ((Tchoup)) and try to fight their way through the city). The interstate is elevated and there’s exits and on-ramps directly next to the Superdome.

All I’m saying is, I have not seen anyone from back home talk about business closures. I know a lot of people in the service industry in New Orleans and would have seen someone complaining if that were the case.

There’s tons of reasons to dislike Trump and plenty of shitty things he’s done even in the past few weeks. I don’t think him going to the Super Bowl is nearly as bad as the other things he’s been doing since he started his second term.

I'm not giving him a pass for anything at any time for any reason. That's how we got here. It's infuriating to me. That trip cost a small fortune that he didn't pay for. You did. I did. Amber did. Everyone who pays taxes paid for that and he left an hour early. Probably because he shit his pants and didn't have a spare set of Depends on him.

Do you know that Elon Musk just got his hands and eyes on national nuclear secrets? Trump at the game was the distraction.

For those who actually still have a twitter account/can see it, this has gotten me so many crazy replies (thanks MAGAts for all the engagement)
