When I first started in the sex industry, violence towards us was marked, "NHI". (No Human Involved)

It has improved, and I think there is increased awareness that women in the sex industry often have pasts that include sexual or other abuse, and that sex workers can indeed be victimized, but God, there's a long way to go.

This truly is a horrific story. As much as it's written to be pro-victim, there is still some subtle shaming in it. It's so embedded in our culture to blame the female victim. When that underlying concept changes, I think more will begin to change as well.
