Rise, thread... RISE!
Last week, on a whim, I decided to pass a little time watching some of the Ultimate Warrior Ultimate Collection on Netflix, and I ended up sitting there for seven hours, watching the entire thing. That Wrestlemania VII "retirement" match with Randy Savage was incredible! I even got a little misty at the end. So much nostalgia washing over me.
And with that, I was suddenly a fan of wrestling again, after about a dozen years. I decided to look at what WWE material was on offer from Amazon Prime (none) and Hulu Plus (TONS!) Needless to say, given the fact that there's years of material on offer from Hulu, I've spent all week watching hours of the backlog of RAW, Smackdown, and Superstars. Last time I watched wrestling with any regularity was during the WCW/NWO days, when Nitro was about 90% talk and pay-per-view promos. I've been surprised and delighted to see just how much actual wrestling goes on on RAW and Smackdown! It's been so much fun!
When I was a kid, I was a huge wrestling fan, and I never got to be able to see a pay-per-view event. The WWE Network's deal would mean I'd finally be able to fulfill a childhood dream, which to me seems like a pretty damned good deal, so I'm seriously considering getting the subscription for WWE Network, starting at 1982, and working my way up. Can I assume that the technical kinks have been worked out over the last six months? Is the stream as reliable as Netflix/Hulu/Amazon?
