I think I never answered the actual question of the thread, so let me jump in!

For ME, personally, success is consistently doing well enough to feel satisfied and not worried about financials. This means making enough to not live "paycheck to paycheck". Ideally this would be accomplished without doubling/tripling the amount of hours it normally takes to do so. If I can make enough over a 2 week period, or a month, that I can pay bills and have $ in my bank account so that I don't necessarily have to clip coupons and be super-choosey at the grocery store over which brand of peanut butter is cheaper, then that's satisfying for me.

I also feel, as a cam girl on MFC, that being recognizable is a part of it. If my name pops up in someone's Twitter feed, in the Lounge, etc., and at least a couple people go "oh yeah, AmberCutie, I've heard of/seen her", then that's satisfying to me, too. It means I've done something that makes people remember me and recognize my likeness and name when they stumble upon it.

TL;DR - making enough $ to not live "paycheck to paycheck" and being recognizable within the camming community = successful for me.

What got my attention was the stats for top 100 on pvt/ true pvt/ group. 9.5 % are pvt/ true pvt/ group at any moment, but also 23% did no such shows, and earnt through tips, gifts, selling content, or countdowns in freechat.
(An observation is that mfc tends to run at about 2-6% on average for all group/ pvt shows, so top 100 do about twice as many.)
[107 pvts/ hour of 10 minutes, 35 true pvts/ hour of 14 minutes, and 38 group / hour of 18 minutes were the other stats]

This averages out to 22 minutes/ hour averaged over all models, subtracting the 23% makes it closer to 30 minutes/ hour or half of all models time that take pvt/ true pvt/ group time within the top 100.
Using this 22 minutes and the 9.5 % figure (the pvt show capacity), about 80 models of the top 100 should be looking for pvt/ true pvt/ group (actual figure was 77 who took them). For just pvt (10 minutes), this figure drops to about 60 models at 9.5%.

We often imagine the top 100 rejecting pvt/ group shows in favour of tipping, the statistics show that all available shows asked for within this group seem to be taken. Successful people find their niche I guess.

ummmmmmmmmmm... wow! I have the biggest heart boner in the entire world right now! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ON THAT LIST!!!

:crybaby: I LOVE YOU LADIES SO MUCH!
VC's point has been made, that just made me so happy I teared up and I'm not even ovulating.

I'm just starting out so I have some short term success goals, and some dream/long term success goals.

Short term:
  • Make more than minimum wage per hour
    Build a name/brand for myself
Have a schedule that allows time for life outside work (camming)
    STICK TO THAT SCHEDULE
Pay my half of the bills
Develop a unique and recognizable style
    Meet lots of MFC members

Dream/Long term:
  • Consistently complete countdowns/meet daily goals
Have a solid group of regulars and a sexy but silly/weird room atmosphere
Be an active and recognizable member of the camming community
Be considered a peer by the models who have inspired me and that I look up to

I don't have any hard and fast money goals. I have no idea what my earning potential is and I suppose it changes every day I log on. I just want to enjoy my job and have it be worth the time and effort I'm willing to put in. I want this job to give me back what I put into it. That was never a feeling I had working in the service industry for other people.

I consider success for me to be making enough money to pay my bills, save for taxes, have some "fun money", and some for savings - all while being able to work as much or as little as I please. To not have to live paycheck to paycheck, and to not have to dip into my savings account for regular expenses/bills. Ultimately, successful would be not stressing over constant financial expenses, not having to shit bricks and panic when I get hit with unexpected expenses, and be able to have plenty of me time so I can be happy.

I havent made it there yet. I can hit one or the other - either I can make enough money, or I can work as many days/hours as I feel like. If I want to make enough money, I have to work WAY too much and then I have massive mental health and burnout issues. If I want to stay sane, I dont make enough to pay for my bills and save for taxes, let alone any fun money or extra savings.

I dont need to be rich. Would I like to be? Of course. But I wouldnt consider myself successful if I had to abandon all of my me time and constantly be burnt out, exhausted, and unhappy just so I could have a plumper savings account and more material things to accumulate. I dont live a lavish life, I dont have piles of nice things, I dont own a car, I dont even have a very nice apartment. I dont need those things. My sanity and happiness is worth more to me than those things.

Unfortunately I do have high expenses due to living in a not so cheap city, and $150k in student loan debt. So... I have to work far more than I wish I had to just to make ends meet. If it werent for those bills, time off and a nest egg would be wonderful. At the point Im at though, Im working myself as hard as I can and I can barely make enough.

One day...
