Which is all basically what I've experienced. And yet I keep seeing people say use tumblr right along with twitter to advertise. Hmmm I guess I'm going to have to go refind those people and ask how the fuk they mean
I absolutely do this and I think that it has been one of the smartest moves I made when becoming a camgirl! Before I actually started camming I made a Tumblr and posted as much as I could, answered just about any Ask I got, and made a ton of WONDERFUL friends! When I got to a few thousand followers I started on MFC. I told everyone a few weeks in advance that I was becoming a camgirl, then advertised my first show A LOT. It was an absolutely wonderful experience because when I logged on to MFC for the first time my room was FULL of tons of people and lots of users that I totally recognized and had already been building relationships with. I was able to bypass many of the issues and jitters that many experience because I had support and camaraderie there for me at first moment I logged on. We had jokes, I knew names, and it was really fun to get to all talk live for the first time. I think that it probably did provide a good impression for those stopping by for the first time, too.
Anyway, many of my very favorite regulars found my on Tumblr and I am so glad that they did!
I still use it and post all of the time! I don't have time to answer as many Asks but I think that's pretty reasonable. I usually try not to spam Tumblr crazy much with advertising because I think that the community overall frowns on it a bit. I like to maintain good etiquette for the site! I do promote especially exciting shows or videos or contests but I do try to make sure there is plenty in between those times and the advertising. The times I've advertised a new clip on C4S I know that my sales for the clip went through the roof and I usually get more people in my shows if I promote them, too.
Many camgirls have Tumblrs and many also utilize their option for password protected private blogs for fan clubs or other things! I have one and love it and my regulars do, too!
Any place with a big audience that's interested in your product is a wonderful opportunity to reach more people!! I really truly do love Tumblr though (I know that many don't) and though it's technically for work I do also really enjoy the community there quite a lot!
So yeah, the people who you're talking with are smart because Tumblr is fun and a great tool for camgirls! I think your initial post confused me though. It sounded like you meant something outside of a normal Tumblr but this post made it seem like you meant a regular Tumblr? If what I'm talking about is still different, I apologize!
Regarding submitting to other blogs, when I started my Tumblr I would submit every once in a while to popular blogs and I still do every so often! I participated in contests and all sorts of things! It was fun, but it sort of is a waste of time if it isn't a bigger, more popular blog. Submitting to other blogs CAN really increase your following though because more people see you and become interested. It does all really come back to YOUR blog though. You would still use your Tumblr to advertise just like you would use Twitter or any other social media platform!
