This might turn out to be a lame question or end up in some kind of awesome discussion but I'm curious what everyone thinks about the amount of time a model is live broadcasting.

Are you aware there are ways to see how long a model has been online?
Does it affect how you treat a model when her attitude/attention span is short because she's been online for a while?
Is your time the only time that matters?

My friend works 4 days a week, seven-hour shifts. Because of the time difference, (she's in Russia), I am usually waking up when I log in, and she is at the end of her shift. She is often cranky, and she is often too busy to talk to me, but she always takes the time to wish me a good morning. Sometimes she will tell me about a nice guy she met that day, but more often she complains about the idiots. :) We share a laugh. Sometimes we have coffee in pvt just to talk and vent.
On occasion, I have heard her say how tired she is of it all. She tells me how hard it is to smile.
I tell her I know how hard she works, and that she has my utmost respect and appreciation because of it..
And I mean it.
Reading about the experience of the models on this forum has just reinforced that respect and appreciation.
❤️

Yes, CB puts the models’ time online in a pretty noticeable spot. I look at it, and if it’s a long amount of time, it can impact the way I approach the model when I visit.

I never give models a hard time anyway, but if I suspect they might be a little fatigued, I’m going to tread more lightly than usual.

Regarding “attitude,” of course it’s reasonable to be a little irritable if you’re at the end of a long broadcast. Irritable is fine. To be clear, though, if it gets to the point where you’re taking frustrations out on a member that doesn’t deserve it, that’s another thing. I’m fine with treading lightly when another person is in a bad mood. But there’s a difference between being a sympathetic ear for someone and being their punching bag when they’re in a bad mood. The former is fine with me; the latter is not.

Is your time the only time that matters?

Of course not.

It "may". A model I am friends with also works full time as a nurse. She usually gets on for about 2-3 hours max. On the days were it was a bad day nursing, I tend to be a little "kinder and gentler". Show some humor , Maybe have some private "real-talk" about that other aspect of life because sometimes you just need to tell someone about it.

Is your time the only time that matters?

Absolutely not. With my fave models I dont care if I'm just getting online when they are about to logoff.. It's still seeing a friend even if we just see each other in passing

With Stripchat there are ways, but they are not a part of the SC platform. So generally for us users on SC it would be a matter of keeping a mental tally of hours for models we visit regularly.

Does it affect how you treat a model when her attitude/attention span is short because she's been online for a while?
It depends. If I know the model, and therefore am vaguely aware of how many shifts and how long she streams I will certainly "cut her some slack".

If it is my friend then I will be acutely aware of how many hours she has been streaming, and most likely also aware of major upsets / concerns in her life (although not all of them of course) and will therefore cut her a *LOT* of slack.

If I do not know the model at all, then am afraid I would not know anything of how busy / tried / worried she is / has been. And in that case, whilst I am not going to be critical of her, I am not going to go looking for reasons for her fatigue, short tempered-ness etc. I will not say outright that I do not care about her worries, it is not high on my list of priorities if I am cruising a cam site.

I work in retail and we are told time and again, that it doesn't matter a damn what has happened previously in the day, or at home; when a customer approaches us in the store, for them it is the first time they have interacted and it is up to us to focus on their needs and how we can help them with whatever task they need to complete that day (I work in hardware retail -- not IT hardware: nails, screws, timber, plumbing etc.)

Is your time the only time that matters?
Not 100% sure what you mean by this, of course my time matters, but so does the model's time, it is why she deserves to be tipped for any interactions / requests etc. By me not really "caring" why a stranger is tired or short-tempered is not discounting the value of their time.

Awesome replies guys. Thank you!

A little context, I have had a few guys this week ask me to wait around for them to come back or seem to be uncaring when I express that it's been a long day, a long shift and I'm ready to go. As soon as I say I'm going to leave they start tipping. I felt unheard and almost as if they don't understand how exhausting a dead zone can be.

Seeing how many hours they r online don't stop me entering a room, I do get concerned if a girl is doing 40+ hours a week as I've seen girls get stressed out and tired and with one lady take it out on regular viewers if tips r slower.
If a girl needs to leave I'm fine withh that.
If a girl can't broadcast when I'm available (as is often the case with one of the ladies I follow) that's fine as long as she also understands if I'm not there or can't stay long.

Ok with that context I will amend my response regarding if my time is the only time that counts.

No! In this instance the model's time (as she sees fit) is the only time that counts. I would never ask a model to wait for me to arrive! If I arrive as a model is wrapping up her show that is bad luck for me and I will just have to suck it up and either get my rocks off in another room, or await the return of the model who is leaving next time she is online.

Returning to my retail analogy, it really gives me the shits ( Australian for : it really annoys me ) when customers come into my workplace 5 minutes before closing time and stroll aimlessly around the store while we are trying to close for the day. (And many of these customers do it EVERY time they visit). So whilst I can understand why a model will extend her streaming time when guys start tipping after she announces that she is leaving, I would never do that. I assume if the model is leaving it is because she *needs* to (for whatever reason.

This is exactly what it felt like. I worked retail for almost six years in various positions and it never failed that some jackhole would come in at 5 til close, mess up everything I blocked/cleaned/returned to shelves and then have to meet corporate's rules on being out of the store before a certain time or ELSE! I usually don't stick around and I have been known to be a little snippy in my signing off and I always feel mildly bad about but at the same time I'm more mad that I was made to feel that way in the first place.

Of course, it's hard to link up all of the time with our favorite people but I also am starting to maybe wonder if people are waiting for a certain point in the show TO sign in and I think that's probably bugging me too, but I don't know if I'm bugged for the right reasons. (Sorry for the conscious stream of thought, just where I'm at right now.)

I get bugged a lot by new guys who want me on past my time. I even had a guy yell at me last week and tell me to "do better", because I'm no longer on his times, and 3 hours "well that's not even half a work day". I welcome him to try ramming his ass with huge dildo's 40 hours a week, and then see how he feels about that genius fucking remark. For the most part I get a lot of new guys who guilt trip me with that kind of stuff, and none of my Regs. They know better, are more considerate, and have better manners. Plus they've been around long enough to see how I treat people like that, and it isn't very nice, or with kid gloves.

But I would say a fair number of newer guys, and the type who treat these sites like dating sites pull that shit on a regular basis. I ignore it, or curtly tell them no., The only time I actually stayed was because the guy in question tipped me $100 to. Guilt trips, and all the rest of the crap just gets a place on my block list. If a guy goes ahead and tips, and it'sa small amount, I thank him for the tip, but I don't come back.

A lot of the time when I get that though, I relate to what you are saying. It feels gamey and egoish. And that never fails to annoy me.

It's so egotistical, you're absolutely right.

There are a couple of regulars who I know will spend a large amount on me who I will make myself available for beyond what I was planning if they ask. But not always - usually only when times are tough like right now. I'd rather come online when they're around or stay on long enough for them to catch me than take my chances with a dead room and random members!

I hear that 100%. But what happens when it becomes a pattern?

Or a better one than guys asking to stay in public chat and tipping 1 tk every 5 minutes when a model says she's leaving is:

I'm busy right now but I want a pvt, don't do a public show or take any pvts, be READY FOR ME, I'll be back in 20 minutes

This is really just a common decency thing. I think a lot of sites could do better at displaying a model's working hours. I know Stripchat and Streamate do it but I'm not convinced the latter does it particularly well so it may not always be clear to users that a model is getting ready to leave. If however, the model says they are leaving then it's a dick move to keep them late unless you're throwing some serious money at them. There are often a lot of non-verbal cues as well that tell you that a model is leaving. Most latina models seem to mop the floor of the room in the studio just prior to leaving (prolifertation of tiled floors there) and I've seen guys pestering them for stuff when they are mopping which is nuts.

Stripchat doesn't track models time online.

No, but IIRC there is a function where the model can outline their hours manually and it converts to the users timezone. It's confusing though when the model's shift extends across midnight in the user's timezone because it shows as the next day. I mean, technically it is but it looks like a split shift if that makes sense.

That's a schedule and if a model doesn't stick to it to a second, you can't know how many hours she's spent online.... lol. I like how you're explaining my main platform to me.

Apologies. I'm not trying to. I was just recollecting what I'd seen in the past. I don't visit Stripchat regularly so I'm not overly familiar.

I think we're both talking about different things though. I think you're talking about the OP's questions about tracking how long someone has been online whereas I'm responding to the subsequent posts about the members expecting things when the model is at the end of her shift. I confused matters by mentioning the work schedule in Streamate which if I understand correctly IS generated automatically by tracking the models time.

Yup, this is so true. Some days I tend to get cranky by the end of my hours online, and if someone's new and sees me like that, he might get the feeling that I'm like that all the time, which is not true. A feature that would show the hours of a model would really be beneficial for models and for members, because that way we could be understood better, and also, the members could start conversations based on that or see how we are on different points of our online time.

True, I can imagine people taking this for granted and taking the piss with it. Touch wood I've never had anyone take the piss with it but to be fair I'm relatively new and it's only been a couple of regs I've done this for ever!

I think you can add a clock/counter if you're using OBS. I'm not sure how, though.

I'm not sure about other platforms but on mfcalerts you can start a "keep it going" timer that counts down on your video feed. It also allows you to select a certain amount of tokens per minute added, though it adds time by the second.
It's very handy for doing goal shows but also great for if it's a bit quiet and you need to either make money or go do something else to stay productive.

I'll often set it for 15min, and if they want me beyond that they simply need to make sure the timer doesn't run out.

I've found a lot of people on Chaturbate in my room are on the mobile version of the site so they don't see what's in the goal panels if they have a full video screen going, I've gained a lot by having a panel on the side of my feed with my socials and menu. A countdown/time online clock would probably be helpful.

On MFC when I was reminding guys that I’m getting ready to log off (unless I get more tokens), I was using the :tenmin GIF that’s the 10-minute timer.

The only problem with that is when someone enters the room it starts over for them lol. If you still wanna do the timer thing these days, charlesbot can run one for you on screen so everyone sees the same time.

Yikes…it really does that? I knew that the five minute timer (from what I could see on my end) automatically starts over again once the five minutes are up. And I hated that. Lol. I tried using Charlesbot once a long time ago, and got frustrated with it when I was trying to change or disable something with it. 😂
