No, you didn't have to...but really, I saw no humiliation in asking about a spacebar, and even when you did he continued to ignore you. I thought you were way beyond polite to someone who has enough brains to turn on a computer and type words...IOW, he's not really an idiot. Personally, I'd rather someone talk to me and put me in my place prior to banning...so at least I have a clue why. lol

I was going to make a post revealing this same thing. I can only think that those who don't know this are people using track pads on their laptops, and to that I say, "spend $20 and get a proper mouse with a retractable cord. It's like trading up from a hay cart to a BMW M6."

Huh. I've been using it so much for so long that I've worn out scroll wheels on old mouses (mice?) before. The middle click is so ingrained in me that whenever I have to use a Mac, with its one-button mouse, it makes me want to dress as a clown and punch babies using boxing gloves made out of puppies.

when I try clicking the mouse wheel, invariably my finger slips and I scroll a little. This can lead to very bad consequences if there's a lot of clickable things all in a row. that's why I use the ctrl+click method.

So many people don't know about clicking on mouse wheel -- or even zooming in and out with ctrl-scroll.

I'm not sure that the jury is yet in on that. "Mouse" in this usage is an acronym, and stands for "Manually Operated User Select Equipment, which is plural already, but since almost no one knows of this etymology, I'm guessing ether "mice" or "mouses" is acceptable--for now.
