Looks like this was just posted on MFC's twitter:

New Model Software 2.2011.06.21. Models can set tip minimums and turn off images in chat rooms. Update Required. http://t.co/PQJtEPb

How do you all feel about the minimum tip? Think people will use it?

In my room, a lot of people get a laugh out of tipping small amounts and making me angry about it. It can be quite frustrating if they are coming in at a rapid rate and I'm trying to keep up for my countdown. But at the same time, I feel bad 'limiting' people that only have 5 or 8 tokens laying around left over. Everything counts, right?

Dilemma.. thoughts?

I think I'll use it for my "three tips until boobies" game as I don't count tips under ten for that anyway and it saves me having to tell them that. I'll leave it otherwise.

I'm wondering how it looks to members and how they know that there's a minimum.

I don't like it. I don't buy tokens that often, and am not in favor or something that says that I have to tip a model a certain amount when I do. I completely understand that this is a main source of income for some of you, but I really figured that many of you would be appreciative of any tip, whether it would be one token or 2k. I'm not trying to come off like you all are ungrateful of tips, I'm just not happy that MFC would do that. Has this been a request by models for a while?

Not that I'm aware of. I've never heard a model talk about that.

Hm. At first I was all  now I'm all :woops: because if I understand this correctly this would more or less rule out certain people tipping. o_O I thought maybe this was a countdown thing of sorts, but apparently it's a way for models to say "You can only tip X amount or higher". Great for MFC, bad for members. Blarg.

i agree with frankie. i was really stoked about it until i thought about it :S now i'm hesitant to be excited about it. on the other hand, i get a lot of douches who will tip 1 token, expect the show and then give me bad ratings or diss me...so....idk. mixed feelings.

Setting a minimum tip seems like a really bad idea... I could see it as being useful for stopping the 1 token rains that interrupt the chat for 10 minutes... but as a whole, I think a lot of members will be bummed to find that their fave lady is stopping them from tipping what 5 tokens they got left... tokens is tokens, take it or leave it... I suppose some ladies may choose the "leave it" but not me...

Take their token in stride. It's another nickel in your pocket, and their ratings don't mean a damn thing.

I too rarely can rate my tips.
However, it's reasonable in some cases for a model to set it at times I think.
There are some models who at times have gone for the 'high roller' thing - when they would discourage small tips.
It worked - at least for times, I can see them being attracted to this.

Another case would be in shows where it'd be difficult for the model to see the screen.

However, for that, I'd wonder if simply turning off the tip noise would work as well for small tips.
You get a message when tipping 'Your tip is below x - there will be no tip sound, but your tip will be notified to the room, do you want to continue' or similar.

On the issue that was raised earlier about model confusion with small tips.
I know in the past I have thrown the occasional 13, 9, 11 or other number into countdowns a couple of times, sometimes watching the model trying to count up and getting a little frustrated is amusing. I don't do it too much.
But if I had more tokens available, I don't doubt that I'd be more likely to throw them in in bigger lumps at that time time too.

When a model is trying to count tips in a tipstorm, she's interacting with the audience in an often entertaining way.
If we solely wanted boobies then there are many hundreds of models with nice boobies who'd be quite happy to show them for a few dozen tokens.

I doubt that very many models will use this feature, and those who try it will quickly abandon it. I've tipped 1 token, followed by 2, 3, 4, etc. I could just tip 100 at once, and sometimes do, but that's not always what I feel like doing. And turning off images globally sounds like a bad idea as well, except maybe for guests.

Ladies, it is entirely your choice to use it. Again, worrying about something you personally won't use and are entirely in control as to whether it is used or not - pointless  If some other model uses it, then great! Imagine how many guys are going to have tokens to spend in other rooms if they can't tip in hers :)

The only time I could think of it being bad is when premiums think models have it set, so don't bother.

Personally I will see it as an extra way to wheedle out those I want to tip, and those I don't. If a lady is saying "I don't want your tip unless it's at least $20", then she won't ever get my tip. Nor the $60 grp shows I partake in, nor the times when I go tipper-mental and start tipping prime numbers only, or tip 1tkn per letter the model uses in saying thanks to a tip... (until she catches on, but none have  ), nor the 20tkns per reply she types out backwards until the room catches on that she is indeed typing backwards...

The feature is utterly irrelevant to me, I'm confident the ladies I chat/tip wouldn't ever use it :)

I was wondering whether it may turn into a "Set the minimum tokens for you to accept a private show" - whereby a member can't click pvt unless they've got a certain amount of tokens - specified by the model - available :)

I could see that being useful, since some users seem to claim "I have 4000 tokens BB, private now plz, I want XXXXXXX and XXXX for 30 minutes" and because they have their token count view set to "hidden" there's no way to know if they mean it. Then you get in there, show your boobs for 30 seconds, they run out of tokens and then vanish without an explanation or a goodbye.

I'm glad to still get those tokens, lol, but it is a little frustrating, so I can see it being a useful option for some ladies who get that kind of thing a lot and are tired of it.

As for the minimum tip thing...Blergh. A lot of my Regs drop small tips at frequent intervals to make me smile/make me laugh or to reward me for small requests, etc, so I'm not gonna rob them of that ability. Every token is still a token I didn't have before! :-D

That seems akin to slapping the gratuity on the bill at a restaurant. The whole point of a tip is to reward someone with extra funds you otherwise would not have given them. It's saying "I think you're awesome, have a nickle/dollar/twenty."

I would never expect to dictate the amount of a tip. It's one thing to say "If you want these pics tip 200 tokens." and another to say "Tip me 200 tokens or you aren't worth my time and can keep your change to yourself."

As a premium I like to tip in smallish amounts for various reasons, one of which is that I don't have a lot of money and like to make it last. If I were unable to tip because the model didn't think my tips were big enough I would leave.

As a model I'm BROKE and very happy to take your nickle ;)

I'm more interested in the images part. Does this mean you don't see images (the model only), or the entire room? Does it include emotes, or just images posted by members?

Agreed Xina! There are places where I have gone in and it has the sign at the front saying "XX% gratuity added" and I ask for a manager, let them know how I feel that is wrong, and I smartly walk out.... I love tips, since I generally cam rarely as of late, 1 token is awesome as is 25...I have never had a 3 digit tip, not yet anyways

You're all saying things that I was thinking when I saw that tweet this afternoon. It just seems like a way for models to screw themselves out of tokens. I mean, if someone's just flooding the room with 1 token tips to be annoying, I could understand using it for a minute. But you know that some model on the site will make that minimum something like 1000 tokens and she'll end up with nothing for it. It's just a terrible idea.

Now, the option to shut off images... that's a good idea. It's an easy way to stop the idiots who fill chat with emotes.

User submitted images show up as a broken image in the model software, but still are visible to members. Regular emotes show up as normal.

I don't intend on ever using either of these features unless there is some specific extenuating reason to do so.

Here's an instance where it might come in handy... Last night I was in a model's room and some douche canoe kept tipping her 6 tokens anonymously just to rag on her in the comments section. She could temporarily set the token minimum high just to shut the fucktard up since she didn't know who it was. I suppose it's better to have the option and not use it, than to not have it at all.

When talking about this new option tonight in my room this was the only thing I could think to use it for since I've had people do this shit in the past.

after camming tonight i think i cemented my feelings on it. i like nickels. i have a ducky bank full of change. i like change, it's shiney and adds up the more you collect. so the only reason i would use this feature is for the reason boce and frankie posted. other than that, i'm ignoring it unless i find a reason to need it.

Cheers Amber - I had visions of it being something Agent_99 dreams of. She gets Emote spam from, well, I guess a spam army from the lounge? Either way, she said it kills her cam frame rate - so I immediately thought she may benefit.

Obviously not :woops:

if it bugged her I guess, but to be honest, I wish I had 30 cents every time someone called me an asshole.

I just tried to tip a model friend 19 tokens because that's all I /had/ and the minimum was 20. It pissed me off. I don't really want to go in her room anymore or tip her because of that. Tips are tips. 1-20 token tips don't lower your camscore, why would you deny these tokens?

:/ It just seems... rude

That model would be hidden forever had it been me. Just out of curiosity... what does the message say when your tip gets rejected?

I hope they were at least creative with their rejection rhetoric. :p
