hmmm, yes, shallow and pedanticI assumed that was what he was saying, but honestly, I have no idea. I rather thought he was being a bit pedantic.

Oh sweet summer child. But seriously I've seen so many "liberals" sending death/rape threats to other liberals because they were not radical enough.I dont like that supposedly liberal and tolerant people start calling for someone to die just because they do something they disagree with.
No, her show was most likely advertised on /pol/ which brought tons of "edgy trolls" who think racist posts make them cool. This is only manufactured drama. She demonstrated that racists, antisemites and other evil people live among us in unimaginable numbers. But really, I already knew that...it's always just beneath the surface.
Sure you are.Yeah. I am done with any further discussion of lame, tacky, viral-fail attempt internet programming.
That's interesting! I don't know for sure what they are taught, I wonder. BUT I do consider myself very familiar with harajuku and it's pretty purely edgy fashion in this case. I guess I was only illustrating that people take nazi imagery/culture and use it in a lot of different ways so I don't find it all that shocking to begin with..
Very likely true...still, real or fake, that kind of nastiness is way over the top, and disgusting. I mean, if someone tells a racist joke, are they innocent of being racist? Only in some academic technical sense.Oh sweet summer child. But seriously I've seen so many "liberals" sending death/rape threats to other liberals because they were not radical enough.

Yay for rationality!!!This whole hubbub is just absurd... We'll all forget about it in a week though, and that'll be nice.
I think this should be very interesting... and I am annoyed that I can't stay up late to watch this.
Hello, First time to post here and must be off-topic but...
Harajuku is kinda special town of pop culture as you know. or i should say its super bizarre place for us common Japanese.I DO NOT believe that those kids in Nazi fashion have some knowledge about the meaning of it.
I still remember the time the popular pop singer Kenji Sawasa in late 70s sang his new song in Nazi uniform.

(cant find the pics of him in that costume or video in any Japanese sites, i guess those are completely and strictly banned)
Now we can say it was just a silly misunderstanding of punk fashion in Lodon at that time, but of course it became a big scandal for him, Later he officially apologized if my memory of childhood was correct. If someone was in Nazi Cosplay on common magazine or TV, he/ she would be bashed terribly in modern Japanese society. in Fact. the former prime minister Aso had made a stupid joke about Nazism and its propaganda two years ago, Newspapers, TV, WEB most of media criticized him.
Japanese government minister's Nazi remarks cause furor

Our Granpa was on the side of the Nazis? really? Yeah they( or we?) were in Axis, but never have been "on the side" of the Nazis. Even that crazy racist, the former Governor of Tokyo, Ishihara would claim that it was just a political strategy to fight against the imperialism which conquered Asia. The old Japanese Army was stupid enough to take the same way with Western imperialism, Thats all.
First of all, we Japanese are "inferior race" for Nazis, How we could be friends?
=P
About history classes, Ours must be almost the same with yours. I mean same with in the school of United States and EU countries, And that made things complicated in current Eastern Asia.
Wow. Talk about biased news. Rather then reporting just what occurred, they characterize her... bigoted, antisemitic, etc. And as far as I know, Olivia does not take privates.NY Daily News reports on the story - http://m.nydailynews.com/news/natio...azi-uniform-site-shuts-show-article-1.2313129
cut and pasted from Vocativ - http://www.vocativ.com/news/217610/a-popular-cam-girl-just-got-shut-down-for-wearing-a-nazi-uniform/
How could you possibly know if she is or is not Jewish? That's absurd.
excuse me.Promise I didn't go looking for this. it just appeared as if by internet bot magic....

My take on the matter is that she has the right to do whatever she wants with her platform, as I have the right to not give her my tokens and leave her room well alone.
If she truly believes it, then I agree. But I can't help but wonder if this is just an extension of the massive troll she pulled off; if that is the case, then I consider it to be pure genius. The thing is...she's not from the US......So her standing on "Free Speech" is a bit of a straw man.
I'm not so sure that she alienated or offended an entire community. There are plenty of other ways to express freedom of speech without offending and alienating an entire community on MFC.
Hard to say for sure. Only way we will ever know is if we find somebody willing to speak for an entire community and ask them.I'm not so sure that she alienated or offended an entire community.
Well... how could I possibly know everything else about her? People talk, usually about themselves. Olivia used to chat in the old days. And viewers like me chat with other viewers, and so on...How could you possibly know if she is or is not Jewish? That's absurd.
