long time ago, I use to play Magic the Gathering, I liked it, I had fun... then I stopped.
to this day, I still have a butt load of cards, they're just gathering dust in the corner of my storage room.

not long ago, I learned of Magic the Gathering Online and that it was almost a exact representation of the game I used to play, only... online, and thus, after about 14 years of not playing, my interest was reignited. I bought in, bought a booster pack, and currently trying to figure out all these new fangled cards they have out, so I can build a deck and play someone. frustrating when all I want is all the cards I have physically to be, digital. I know those cards.

anyway, long post short... anyone play? tell me about it.

thanks
C

Is the UI good now. I haven't tried it yet, because the UI looked funky to me. Also, I wanted to use my collection digitally.

I don't know what the UI use to be like so I can't really answer this, and as I said, I haven't actually played a match yet but the UI for looking through your digital collection seems ok to me.

like you, I'd love to use my physical collection online, but it seems, for now, I'm going to have to make due with what i've got in the game. still trying to get a handle on all the new cards and try to pair with them with other cards (would really love to recreate my old Millstone deck)... something I could do a lot more easily if I had them in my hands lol.

I was into it until they released the expansion with the card flipping mechanics earlier this year. I built a couple of new decks, but I still hated those cards and eventually stopped playing. I might play again one day when those cards fall out of standard if it is still around.

I played for a while with my ex partner and his friends. He moved away and I stopped playing because I would have to teach someone new every time I wanted to play.
I had no idea it's online... I could get into that.
I used to be big into playing catan online, sans the butt hurt interest trolls.
It's been so long I've played magic though... I feel like I've forgotten everything. Plus I have so many cards IRL starting over would suck

There's also Duels of the Planeswalkers on iPad, Android, Steam and Xbox 360. It's much more "casual" with a campaign mode through which boosters are earned and unlocked and pretty limited card pool, but still enjoyable. Plenty of folks in multiplayer, most of whom barely have the basics of deck construction down, which makes for an enjoyable stomping, and a few with really clever/difficult decks to keep you on your toes.

New Magic Duels: Origins comes out next month, which introduces Planeswalker cards and marks the return of Two-Headed Giant. Origins is also going to be completely free with 100% earnable content (and a pay-to-unlock for the impatient).

so, managed to finally build a deck and play a bit today. won one and lost a bunch of other games.
I could totally see this as a new time dump instead of mfc (who knows, might be cheaper too heh)

if you're anything like me, I'm sure you haven't forgotten anything. Trying to learn the play mechanics in a vid game format took some time but not that long (still haven't figured out how to untap things if I boo boo) but yes, this is very much like starting over and it sucks.
I would love to have my collection digitized.

I haven't encountered that particular mechanic yet.

It is called morph, if you are playing in the starter section you may not see it much. I tended to stay in the just for fun section, I did not really have any interest in the super serious levels of play.
