Doesn't really read like a review. More like a promotional. Almost a year old too.

Things have been changing at camsoda, but I feel like I am more likely to run across a familiar studio face than Dakota Skye or Tory Lane.

That is your problem, right there. You need at the very least a 2 Mbps upload speed to cam providing you are the ONLY person using your internet connection, you shut down anything else that uses the internet (email services, spotify, etc) and plug yourself to the wall. Ideally the minimum to function reasonably is 5 Mbps.

For the love of everything that's holy, upgrade your Internet package if at all possible. Those speeds are abysmal. Your package is probably supposed to be the 10 up/1 down, which is honestly pretty bad, though cheap. Go 1-2 packages up, it will pay for itself in the space of a shift or two. Keep in mind that your actual speeds will always be less than advertised, so choose accordingly.

Since I've had a few people ask me what I really meant by this, I figured I would clarify. There are some subjects that members can be very helpful with as far as giving their point of view and some advice. In this particular case, I mention something because the person I quoted has never cammed on any cam site and doesn't have the same experience that fellow models would and cannot therefore give the best advice in this area.

I didn't mean to imply that members never had helpful or useful advice for cam models. But there's a lot of times that I feel like facepalming due to folks speaking without experience on the right side of the cam.

My camera is a Logitech 720p
Ceiling light and lamps .. not studio lights at the moment

Generally, overhead ceiling lights make a person look like hell. I don't know what your setup looks like though. Maybe post a screenshot of you on cam?
Also, are people still using the 720? It's fairly out of date now. Might be worth upgrading to the 920.

So, basic suggestions: upgrade your internet speeds, your lighting, and your cam.

Technically, i think even the 920 should start to be considered out of date now. Not entirely, due to it being inexpensive. But if someone is wanting to invest in a bit more future ready cam, then the recommended one, in my opinion, is becoming the Logitech Brio. It's still around $190, so not everyone will want to buy it yet. But the specs are way better than the 920 or 930.

Honestly if any cam model were needing to buy a new webcam going forward...I'd probably start considering the Brio over the 930 and other older models.

None of this is needed IMO. Most sites don't support 4k and even if they did most members don't have a connection fast enough to get smooth video if you go that far. I personally cam at 800x600 for that reason even when my internet is super fast and I have the equipment to cam at the highest resolution available on my camsite. I would rather have my members watch a smooth video feed than a super high resolution choppy mess.

Second of all, when you have so many bells and whistles, member get distracted and not tip as much. It is better to blend in when it comes to image quality than to stand out. This I discovered when I cammed with my Canon D70. Some members even asked if it was a real person or a video because it looked like a professional video.. and this is never good for business.

The c-920 and c-930 are the best cams right now and I wouldn't advice upgrading.

I have the Logitech Brio and broadcast on MFC in their highest resolution setting. It's not even paid for itself in the handful of 4 hour broadcasts I've done with it. It's not advisable to tell a girl who is struggling to make money on cam to spend $200 on the latest and "greatest" webcam. By the way, it doesn't look much different than the c920. Just saying. Take it from somebody who's been camming six years, has had every webcam, etc... It's not necessarily about your equipment but more how you use it. I made more $ per hour with a shitty built in webcam on a 2009 Macbook Pro. I don't know why but it's the cold hard truth.

I think there is a certain value in "outsider" opinions, as a member we have contact with different models and maybe sometimes notice things just because we are on the other side of the cam....... of course there will be often plain stupid comments but I would not discourage comments from non camgirls..

it's pretty apparent that he knows the advertised specs of the Brio but not how it actually performs on a cam site. I expected a much better product and ended up quite let down. Logitech has enormous room for improvement but I doubt we will see it anytime soon because they've got the market cornered. I'd be fine with the webcam if it weren't for their shitty software. I am completely unable to manually adjust the exposure of the Brio which is immensely annoying to me. Physically it's larger, clunkier, and much more awkward to position as they've done a redesign of the clip/base and personally I dislike it. Anyway, this isn't a webcam review but I had to put my two cents in since it got brought up.

I have the same issue with the drivers for the 922, I don't know why they thought that was a good idea.

Before you invest money in anything, check your lights. A stream that is too dark not only looks shitty, it also uses more bandwidth and your fps go down. Vicious circle. Have the lights preferrably in front of you, not above you, besides you or even behind you. It's (almost) impossible to have too much lights.

I have not seen what you do on cam. Better lights do not guarantee more tokens. In fact there is never a guarantee for anything, but i guess you know that already.

But maybe you should create a thread about it! I would love to read your thoughts on the different webcams you have tried. I have personally used only a couple of models and have been buying C-920s for years now as I go through cams like underwear.

In general the c920 has much more problems with over lightning. The cpu usage can go way up.
