As the title says, I'm feeling like breaking out & painting one of the plastic kits in my stash. Not for contest-entry purposes, just for my own amusement. Would there be any interest in my making a progress thread for the build, so people could follow along & watch as things are done? If so, which kit would be most desired as the subject? You may choose 1 option in the poll.

The potential subjects for the build are:

A: Vampire

B: Mummy

C: Ghost

D: Red Knight

I feel like the ghost will give you the most freedom with color choices and such.

Oh, don't sell me short. I can get pretty creative on any of these. Well, the Knight may be a touch more limiting, but I still haz IDEAS. :D

Man, people are attracted to the ectoplasmic side of things so far! I have a bad feeling that poor knight won't even place! :D

I forgot something. When I pulled the Ghost kit out of the stash to look it over again... I found that I had already done some assembly on it. Most of the major body parts are already glued together. There's still a lot to be done, but that build won't be a 100% start-from-scratch, if it wins the poll.

Nah, I don't do flesh wounds. Much. :D (Besides, I already have a Black Knight kit. Just not THAT Black Knight.)

The Ghost has a commanding lead so far. A bit of trivia: The Ghost kit is actually a sequel, of sorts. It's based on this kit that the late great Aurora Plastics Corp. manufactured in the late 60s.

The Forgotten Prisoner even had his own backstory, published in CREEPY magazine back in 1970. You can read it here: http://booksteveslibrary.blogspot.com/2011/11/forgotten-prisoner-of-castlemare.html

In keeping with tradition, Monarch Models had its own version of the tale printed to advertise the Ghost kit. I can't seem to find a link to the updated story.

I remember the old Aurora models very well. My best friend had a few of them including The Forgotten Prisoner. They were pretty cool. We were just young kids and I think these were first released in the early to mid 1960's if I am remembering correctly. (I'm 49 now)

Early 60s indeed. The Aurora sales guy that came up with the idea to make models of the monsters had to really fight with company management to get them made. Kinda funny, as the line turned into Aurora's signature product.

Looks like the Ghost is gonna win this one, unless something drastic happens between now & the close of the poll tomorrow!

We have an Ectoplasmic WINNAH!!! I'll start a new thread on the build when I get everything together & start up.
