The Internet
I rarely let basics talk anymore. Most of the regular basics that I like went premium after I could mute basics, just because they cared about me and knew things would be easier (as well as more fun,) with most basics muted.

Yet, there are a handful of basics who say they're too poor to ever go premium. These are mainly basics who are cool to talk to, and have been around since my first day of cam, if not my first month.

Why is it then that they couldn't save a penny a day to go premium?

They always, always mention how poor they are... yet, they have a computer, internet, shelter, Wow-subscription, and so on.

I can't help but feel insulted that they don't think I'm "worth it."

Members, models - what do you think? I'm thinking about giving them a slap to be honest and try to give them a bit of reality, because I don't like it when some of them bitch about being muted. Not all of them do of course, but still.

I understand the temporary basic. Be a basic for a month, see if you like the atmosphere then become a premium if you like what you see. Any longer than that? Cheap worthless fuckers.

Agreed. Actually, to do otherwise would just be silly. The only plausible excuse I can think of, for staying a Basic, or even a Guest for this matter, is for the person who doesn't frequent the site more than a couple times a month, just as a diversion. And then they shouldn't be bitching about anything anyway.

A wake-up call may just be in order, and that will get some to join, but others will just find more excuses to avoid becoming a Premium anyway.
And anyway, when did YOU, of all the people I know, care about getting an opinion about letting the morons, idiots, and other trolls, in your room know exactly what you think, hmm :?: I say let 'em have it! It's usually quite entertaining in it's own right.

Sometimes I let my basics talk, and then say something along the lines of "well _______ ruined the fun, so you basics are muted now. If you want to still chat, you can always prem up and stay around."
Or
"OK, no more basic chat, name, name, and other name because you were chatting I will give you the password to _____ hidden set IF you prem up for lil ol me!"

The only downfall I have had is a basic who use to chat nicely in my room, as soon as I started this mute basic thing, when I DO allow it, he has become VERY vulgar about all the dirty things he wants to do to me. He use to be so sweet and turned. I wonder if because I muted he now things I am only out for the money, so I should be treated like a whore? IDK

What do you think?

Screw the basic whiners. Basics (and some cheap premiums, even) don't get the option to whine. Pay up or shut up like others did. $20 isn't that much over the course of a few months. Skip dessert or have water instead of a coke at lunch or dinner from time to time, and KBAM! You're premium. If you're unemployed, living with parents and have NO income... well perhaps you shouldn't be on MFC and should be looking for a way to get an income. If you're a student and don't plan on working until you graduate, then go study. :D

Man I'm feeling unfiltered and harsh today. Stand back.

That would be the first target of the Ban hammer IMHO, no person deserves to be treated that way

Basics who frequent MFC have no excuse whatsoever for not going premium. Some of them even flat out brag about never having to pay a dime! Fuck 'em! If they care at all, they will find a way.

Methinks a lot of them who say they can't upgrade are likely under age anyway, which would explain much of their idiotic behavior.

I am of mixed opinion on this...

When I was researching to be a model, I didn't know the site at all. I thought if i made a basic account, I'd have to use that one as my model name, but I wasn't sure, which made a huge difference as EveMatteo was definitely going to be my non-model name, but I didn't know yet what i wanted my model name to be. So I lurked as a guest. But then I couldn't find out much, because I wanted to TALK to the models, and all the models had guests muted. It was infuriating.

As someone who is usually on the edge of not being able to make payments, I can very much understand how someone could become a basic but not be able to upgrade to premium. If they have a significant other, their significant other may be against them spending money on the site, as my Master doesn't want me putting money in. He's okay with me making money out of it, but doesn't feel I should be spending any money on it since I work there...

On the other hand, basics are generally banworthy. I am willing to go to the trouble of banning a basic to let the basics talk. Some of them want to know from a person how it all works before spending money, and have legitimate questions before being willing to go premium. To be honest, I never heard about the mfc wiki until it was linked to in model admin. So, a basic could very well not know that it exists. And some of them don't want to fool around with it, because lots of wiki's are badly organized and out-of-date.

Unfortunately, it seems more and more that members come in, see a basic talk, and leave right away. I want to let the basics talk, that's the kind of person I am. I was the one who was always laughed out of the room, the one who was taught to be quiet and not bring attention to myself. I was the outcast, and so I hate excluding people, especially as there are legitimate reasons to not go premium.

I think, when I can go back to mfc full time, I'll have basic hour, where basics are allowed to talk, and the rest of the time have them muted. Will probably be the first hour of the day. I might need to do it twice...

This.

Also, for instance, I have a basic who's been around since the beginning. Good guy. Over a long period of time he admitted to being a single dad and a high school English teacher. I would MUCH rather he spend that $20 on his kid than on me. I don't need his money THAT badly.

If they're too cheap/stupid to scrounge up $20 to go premium then fuck 'em. They know their place; in muted land.

$20 is so very cheap for a lifetime ability to talk in any model's room. Plus you get 200 tokens which is 20 minutes of group show time. Long-term basics get no pity from me. I don't exactly rake in the money but I can cut back for a month to make up $20 pretty easily. Hell... I bet I have $20 in change in a jar I used to throw loose change into when I was in High School.

I don't really get the point of basics. They're basically just guests with a name.

I used to let them talk, but as the site environment has changed, I've started getting a lot of nasty little wanks in my room. So now they get muted. It's painfully silent, but oh well.

As was pointed out in another thread, I also don't get the premiums who bitch about basics being able to talk in some rooms. You can silence them yourselves.

if you dont have 20 dollars you shouldnt be on the internet, you should be trying to make 20 dollars.
i have no pity for basicy basics. sometimes i let them talk but really nothing i say is gonna make them go prem and while ive had maybe 5 or so go prem for me it was completely just cause they were going to anyway.
i dont wanna hear the violins about how their poor. cause this is my job. i dont come to their job at mickeyds and beg for some hashbrowns saying.. well im poor i totally deserve free stuff cause im poor. yeah their cardboard box gets damn good internet connection. so dont feel bad at all about muting basics if they cant put out 20 lousy bucks then meh.

But you found a way to go premium already, numbnuts! I'm not talking about you. :D

I only mute basics when they get the fuck out of hand. Which is more often now than ever sadly. I'm considering just keeping them shut out though after this thread.

It could be on principle. Why pay ANY amount of money for porn when there's so much of it available for free online?

I do concede that basics shouldn't have any expectations whatsoever (like the ability to chat), but allowing them to chat can be good business. Many a basic has gone premium just because he's developed a friendship with a model, and it's kind of hard to do that on mute.

So I don't really spend time on mfc anymore and when I did it wasn't that much. My question is, are basics just generally more trollish than premium members? I ask this because the way I understand it and if nothing has changed, it's 20 dollars for premium lifetime. Is it more that you guys mute basic accounts because they are lame, or cheap?

Don't get me wrong, I know you guys gotta get paid and this is your job. Would you rather there be like a monthly renewing subscription of a few bucks, just to some how assure income, or just keep it how it is?

Hard to say in a general sense. While basics try to get anything for free that they can, they generally don't have an air of entitlement, as opposed to the $20 premiums. Those guys can be a royal pain, because they think they're special forever just because they paid $20 once.

No comment on the $0 premiums :text-nocomment: :character-afro:

My only real gripe is when basics and guests start chiming into the chat with "Tip her guys, c'mon!"
Fuck that shit!

This is about the size of it. I've had next to no money, but that didn't last long. I spent the little money I had and borrowed to "improve myself" so that I could acquire skills that allowed me to make more money. And now, years later, I can afford to be a premium, and I rarely spend time in a model's room, let alone open my mouth, without tipping at least a little.

There are plenty of other places on the internet where you can chat for free. There's IRC, there are message boards, F2P online games, AIM, Yahoo, Google, MSN, FB, Skype, Ventrilo, Chatroulette, whatever. The models I visit with depend on MFC to make a living for themselves and, in some cases, their families and they are willing to get naked in order to do so, and they don't always like how people treat them, but it's THEIR JOB to put up with it. They're not there because it's good for their health, or because they live to provide amusement for me or anyone else.

Freeloading basics get more than they're "entitled to" on MFC already. If they don't like getting muted, they can pay or they can find someplace else, and the same goes for premiums who can't treat models like decent human beings.

Easy for a person with a bajillion premium fans to say screw them.

For the girls starting out the net needs to be spread to include the potential premiums, which sadly means having to put up with the brain trust of basics.

For a model with a busy room, it's essential to keep a lid on things. The premiums are bad enough without having to deal with many, many more basics and guests. Models who are less busy can afford to be more lenient, and have more to gain from making converts.

Unless it scares off her few premiums...

But yeah ultimately if you have a very very tiny fan-base, sometimes it's the best idea to chat with the basics. It's going to depend on each models' preferences. But the point of this thread is to tell the basics that they need to cough up the cash to go premium if they want to actually be part of the MFC community. Otherwise they are only spectators who are already getting a hell of a free show and can't ask for anything and have no right to bitch if they get muted.

I only have a problem with the basics who a)beg me for shit b)beg the premiums to tip for shit c)are rude trolly aholes or d) are refusing to become premium because they "can get it for free".

If a basic genuinely is hard up for money, but can still respect that camming is my job and therefore I won't perform for him for free...and can contribute to the conversations going on in my room...then he's cool in my books. Adult entertainment just isn't a financial priority to students or the unemployed and I get that. I've been broke...hell I AM broke, and can barely get by as is. I know how it is to struggle. So as long as the basics can respect me and the guys who ARE spending, then I have no problem with them. Most of my regular basics wind up becoming premium anyways, and all of them tell me its because I showed them respect right off the bat. I don't treat the guys in my rooms like wallets, and I expect that they don't treat me like a free whore either. The ones that do disrespect me get the banhammer. Simple as that.
