So an old friend of mine and I reconnected recently and it turns out that in the year we drifted apart I started camming and she and her partner had been watching cams on and off for at least two years.

They're talking with me and among other plans and plots it seems my friend would love to try camming.

This pains me that it is an issue, but she has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. And she uses an electric wheelchair to move. Her partner helps her eat and she has a care aid to work. She's got a great job. She doesn't need to cam but she's always been really excited by it. She also has a new van to pay for and woweee those things are kerspensive.

Why I think this would OH MY GOD totally work.

She's adorable and she fucking LOVES people. She's very smart. Her mind moves fast and she can talk about a lot of things.

She's a giant nerd.

I think the wheelchair is actually a selling point maybe? Rule 34?

She can use a computer fairly well. I'm not sure how some of her software would work with the MFC interface but I think MFC is the place to do this.

She's pretty hesitant and seems to be wanting me to come on with her. So I'm a little less concerned about the questions I have but.. Questions:

I'm completely ready to turn almost every shift into a long diatribe about how differently abled people are beautiful and sexy all the same and have needs desires and sexuality their own. I think I can be HILARIOUS ABOUT IT. I'm still working on a good way to frame this to explain to people: If they're not turned on, click next model and begone. If they are stay right here and talk.

Models... how many members am I going to ban the faces of? I've generally found the populace of MFC to be pretty respectful but that's because the arseheads don't come to my room in the first place.

I feel like this will be really novel and she might gain a lot of viewers.

I'm plotting out how to do this for my friend and would appreciate any thoughts on the subject at all. Her lending her space to me is enough to change my fecking life in multiple ways and I want to make her happy and help her grow. She wants this and if I can make sure maybe it pays off a bit of her van... well fuck yeah.

I'm pretty sure that she'd have her personal information found out. She's gone to too many conferences for ability advocacy. Even if she scrubbed her profiles (and oh my goodness we will) she might even have someone recognize her.

And I think it would be easy to find me after she got found. So I'm aware that this could actually get us both busted.

I'm not too too concerned for personal reasons of my own. Though I'm thinking about cleaning my C4S before I do this.

She needs to have REALLY thick skin if she plans on Camming. Hopefully trolls will stay away, but that's not guaranteed. I would definitely have a conversation with her on if the trolls will get to her or not.

and yeah i agree with Megan to talk to her about trolls and see if she is prepared for that, there will be a lot of people who will say mean things and you might not be able to ban them fast enough.
I'm not sure if she is interested in clip or video making at all, but that would be a way to make money/explore the camming world without people being able to be dicks like they would live on mfc?

Thank you ladies. Her eyes are really lovely. And when we're doing our theorizing we all say camming is not about looks. She is a wonderful human.

Spinal muscular atrophy just means she can't control the muscles in her body. There's no numbness at all. Indeed she is often rather uncomfortable. But she likes lots of sensations.

I know I'm going to have to prepare her for trolls. She's got a really thick skin though. I've seen people come up to her at random and say some pretty vilely disturbing things about god and punishment and her parents and etcetera etcetera etcetera. I'm fiercely protective of her.

And I think ban the fecking classless morons should be a game. Perhaps I will make it into an artform. I don't know how I'm so lucky to avoid general harassment.

As a MyFreeCams viewer, I highly respect models who, even with any type of disability, have the courage and passion to show themselves on a website such as MyFreeCams. I wish you the best of luck with her, and I have to agree with everyone else, that her eyes are drop dead amazing!

While she does have thick skin, and you will be letting her know about the "trolls" to begin with, I would possibly suggest bringing in a few people you trust just to help moderate the room atmosphere to help her out. MyFreeCams is a whole different beast, and having some help in place can really help, especially in terms of getting the general public to also respect and enjoy viewing her.

Being ready to get rid of any type of drama is huge, and it will be a huge factor in her success.

Just hearing about her wanting to do this, and seeing that picture, I know that she will do well.

I'm not sure if I missed anything while reading, but is her movement limited to the point that she would have someone on can with her for all shows? If so, she needs to be an excellent communicator so that viewers popping in in the middle of a show know that she is totally consenting. I hope that isn't rude to say. I'm just thinking that if I randomly clicked on a room and one of the women on the screen seemed not to have total control over her body, I'd listen to what she was saying in order to assess the situation. If she were quiet, I might worry that she is being taken advantage of. Does that sound ableist? I think it does a little, but I don't mean it to.

I love the discussion here. Thank you all so much. I'm showing her your responses and urging her to set up an account. We'll see how far she goes with this but we have a ridiculous goal and if we even go an eighth that far it will be really amazing.

Jicky. No you don't sound ableist. It is a valid concern. She has a loud and raucous voice. We love to do terrible impressions together. I would be on cam with her all the time and we have to be careful about her partner who will be off screen all the time, likely talking with us. She's got enough movement to operate her chair (which she is badass at) and operate a mouse.

MiniatureKiwi I have at least a couple of wonderful regulars that I'm going to try and time her shifts to their schedule. Sometimes they're busy but even just having the premiums in the room is nice.

The problem for me, and how I could detract from her is that my traffic is *TERRIBLE* I don't have *that* low a camscore. And I've just hidden mine. But we will need hers. And we will need it to get high fast.

I'm having her make a list of everything awesome she does. (And this I also think on its own will be good for her confidence.) And then I will have her tell me how much she'd charge a stranger to get her to do it. And she will say 'I'd do it for free!' and she and I will have a wee talk about tokens.

Then we are going to go through every sexual act she is willing to do. In general. In public chat where she will be capped. In group where she may be capped. In private where she could be capped as well and in Truprivate where she may still be capped. Then every sexual act she is willing to do with me. And see where that falls on my scale.

I am nice. And kind of a new agey therapy bitch. No one ever likes hearing "I hear your anger. Are you ok?" in response to their diatribe. <.< I am not always 'present' enough to do this though. Sometimes I fly off the handle.

There's definitely a market for disabled cam girls. Not sure how big but its there. I did a long search for women attracted to men with with disabilities several years ago hoping to find out it was a fetish or something. I didn't find any women but gay and straight men were everywhere.

I would reply, but Kiwi basically said everything I wanted to say. I have a lot of respect for people who are comfortable enough with their bodies to start camming to begin with, the fact that she wants to do it in spite of her disability is downright inspirational.

Sure, there will be trolls, but I'd wager that there wouldn't be that many more than the usual suspects. Traffic-wise, getting a good start would help, but between your experience and what I assume to be a treasure trove of tips, tricks and other info in the models only section, that should not be much of a problem (and if the launch would fail, it won't be for lack of proper preparation).

And if being on the Internet for over half my life has taught me anything, there's a market for everything. There will be traffic coming to the room based on the novelty value of her disability alone, and if she's as much fun as you made her look like so far, a lot of that traffic will probably stick around too).

There are many wheelchair bound cam'ers on twitch even with more trolls, so I could see it working on MFC.
Of course the viewers are often looking for different things on twitch compared to MFC, which might negatively impact her camscore, but there are also those with fetishes which might help! If she has thick skin, it can't hurt to try!

However, I think the troll factor would be worse than anyone could imagine.

I think when you "prepare her for the trolls", you need to OVERLY exaggerate it. Think of the worst things people have said to her face, then realize that the internet adds an anonymity factor, so you can multiply the worst comment she's ever heard by 100 and then add 50 people all spamming her chat room at the same time saying that horrible thing.

As an experiment, you should take a picture of your friend, with the wheel chair visible, and post it to an awful place like 4chan with the caption "My friend wants to become a camgirl".
Read the comments to your friend. Don't censor a thing. If she handles that well, she may be ok.

Like everyone else said, if this is something she wants to do, there's no reason she can't. And her disability can definitely be a selling point. But yeah, the trolls... People can be mean and meaner still when there's the relative anonymity of the internet to hide behind, and there's a lot of people on the internet. It would definitely be wise to explore worst case scenarios together before making any decisions. That means members in her room saying vile things to her day in day out, members in lounge mocking her, maybe even people outside of MFC on sites like Reddit and 4Chan circulating images and videos of her and making cruel jokes at her expense. It's also worth considering what might happen if her camming gets back to the folk at the conferences she speaks at - not every organisation is adult work friendly.

But if she's okay with all of that, then I say go for it. And it's not like all that stuff will happen, only that it might. Equally, she could be hugely successful, operating in a niche that not many models (if any) are filling right now. The only way to find out which way it goes, is to go do it.

i say go for it. i am also disabled how ever i am not in a wheel chair. if she is getting disability from the government she may want to look in to what will happen to that should she do this. after all if you make so much you do have to file for taxes. i am in the process of getting that together my self. i have to talk to a lawyer and then to the SS office and obtain a ticket to work. after that i am going to goo all out and work as much as i can for 9 months and figure out just how good if a job this will be for me. i am not worried about loosing the money cause if i am making money all is good i am worried about the health insurance. i need meds for spasms. i need to be able to go to the ER if some thing is majorly wrong.

this is what i was told today

when you start working you report your TOTAL earnings to the SS office. at that point your 9 month trial period starts you will continue to receive benefits during that period. after that period cash benefits are put on hold. for a certain amount of time (not sure how long that is yet) your health benefits do not go away you still have health insurance. the only way you loose it is if you make over a certain amount (again i am not sure how much that is)

here is the best part there is no paper work, you just call and report. usually with the government i would expect a good bit of forms and paper work but nope just a phone call to SS the above number is for the ticket to work program not SS office.

once i had this information i could not help but pass it along. i am so freaking happy right now it is crazy. if i could do back flips i would.....
