Oh shit... Fat Tuesday. The Lutherans (was raised as one) used to always do a pancake dinner on Fat Tuesday. MFC is sucking for me right now so maybe that's a good excuse to put some pants back on and get pancakes for dinner from IHOP.
pancakes actually sound pretty good right about now.

I need to gain back some weight.

I feel like I'm losing weight. Or lost again. After my stroke, I lost 50lbs mysteriously, with no real exercise past some weak ass PT things for my left leg. Gained a whole lot back, and now I feel... lighter. Need to get a scale. And it's probably a side effect of all the blood pressure meds.

I need to start back on my efforts to slowly drop a bit more weight myself. Being 15 lbs lighter is nice... but when my preliminary goal was losing 45 lbs, I have to keep pushing at it. It'll get harder to lose as I progress.

I hope I can get on MFC to see Amber tonight for her birthday. The timing on me going out of town for the weekend is particularly bad this time. :(

Forgive and forget. Forgive and forget. Forgive and forget. I must put this as my daily thought so that I will remember.

Bye Amber. We'll miss you after the apocalypse :(

I should note that not only this is disputed accuracy, but it's also highly unlikely.

At 75rem people just might lose some hair and vomit. It takes 400 for possible death. It's the kids and pregnant people that we should worry about.

Is it bad that I only knew about this because of Twitter and that it took a few tweets about it for me to figure it out? I still haven't googled it, either.

Ok. I googled it, it's ranked at 4. There have been rank 5 meltdowns (three mile island,) which caused no deaths or injuries, not in the workers, and not in the people living nearby. People who were exposed to radiation from that one had no more than a chest x-ray.

So rather than me googleing through all the panic blog posts and people who don't know shit, could anyone tell me what the big deal is? I know it sounds harsh, but I really don't think that this is a super big deal. It's just "news."

Japan fucking rocks for having nuclear power plants even though they know they're extremely selectable to earth quakes. Sure, they'll get out of this stronger and will learn from it. Do I think they need help or donations? Fuck no.

I just think they can handle this themselves, and that it isn't nearly as big of a disaster as people are making it out to be.
Thats about the most cold hearted thing I've read, heard, or seen in days. Dunno what else to say but what the hell Alex?

Oh come on. Even if they had 400rems, they only die if they don't get treatment within two months.

I already admitted to not doing complete research seeing as it's showing not to be anywhere near as bad as other nucular "disasters" that hurt or killed no one. Unless someone points out how this has hurt anyone, it's kind of the same news as is always on the TV; stuff to get people stirred up, upset, and talk about it for days while making them watch the news station more.

What about the thousands of people who already died during the earthquakes and aftershocks? Or the giant tsunami that wiped out what the quakes did not?

The Nuclear facility is just icing on a shit cake.

I don't think Alex is being cold or unreasonable here, she is being straight forward and real. I for one am sick of the media hyping everything up to scare the masses into a frenzy. Now I will not claim to know anything about nuclear radiation, but I do know that the media and our government as well as other world leaders spin things in their favor.

I am sure I won't gain any friends with this post but shouldn't we be worrying about the serious economic issues in our own country that are putting hard working regular people on the streets? Who decided anyway that the USA is so fucking superior that we come rushing to the aid of the world every time something happens?

Okay end rant. Bring the nasty comments. ;)

I don't donate to those causes tho, because even when the US collected donations for the Katrina victims, the charities "forgot" or "lost" or otherwise didn't help the people living in trailers for 3-5 years. Just cause you donate for good karma doesnt mean that THOSE affected will ever see a grain of rice from your $.2 cent donation. Its a sad world that we have to research when and where we donate our time or resources, as well as reading all the BS posted on every forum and site to stir people up. Yes it is a great tragedy, and they need help. I just grow tired of all the scammers boosting the "reports" so they can get twitter hits and "donations that will be forwarded". Just saying I can see from Alex's angle as well as the general population....

BTW-Agreed BAC :)

I'm just disgusted with the people making jokes about all the people who are dead, or just saying in some form of another fuck Japan or they deserved it.

I think everyone's "fuck'em let'em deal with it themselves 'merica shouldn't help anyone but themselves herp derp!" would change quickly if it were America that were facing disasters and no one wanted to help us.

I agree with Jebbaz. It's the "pay it forward" philosophy: We help them out because if that happened here, we'd need other countries to help us out and we would ask for it.

Do we have our own problems here? FUCK YEAH we do! (pounding the desk as I say that) But that doesn't mean we have to sit back and say "sorry, guys. You're on your own." That's not what good people do.

Now, do the media overhype things? Hell yeah. You know what I do? I don't watch American media. Because American media is filled with more bullshit that the stupid studios having "new models" with 30k+ scores. I'm going to the BBC before even thinking about checking CNN or Fox "News" on ANY world issue.

Eva- the better example of what you're talking about is 9/11. The crap that so many charities pulled after that was downright criminal (and I do believe some were arrested for fraud from that).

I will admit, I'm holding back a lot of what I want to say here because some of the comments (especially the shouldn't we take care of ourselves first comments) really piss me off. But this ain't my site and I don't want to cause any more drama here. So I'll just leave it at that.

Haha, I'm pretty sure we can debate about something without arguing. I do believe that if a country is in need, other people should join in to help. I'm all for that. They might need our help with some earth quake issues, sure, but at the same time Japan kind of knew it was prone to have earth quakes. They have prepared for things like this, after all, Japan isn't so stupid to say "Oh yeah we're done having earth quakes now, that fad got boring." Sure, if they need more help, America has always done that, but...

But this nuclear thing is nothing. At most they'll have to throw away crops.

"Minor release of radioactive material unlikely to result in implementation of planned countermeasures other than local food controls."
That's what rank four means.

It has to be rank 6 before it's a "catastrophe," which is one hundred times worse than a rank 4.

That's all that bothers me about this. It won't even matter any more than the oil spill in a month though, that's just how the news is. People just don't know what they're talking about and the news took it and ran to get more watchers, because saying, "Oh yeah, there was a nuclear plant problem too, but everything is cool don't worry about it," won't keep people watching for the next few weeks.

No way in hell. Never gonna happen, not when everyone's got different opinions.

I'm not expressing my opinions any further, I actually like coming here and if I have to get into a political debate over whether or not human life is worth saving, I'll end up banned for telling someone to either go sterilize themselves or kill themselves one, so that their fucked up genes dont get passed on too another cruel, selfish, and stupid generation.

I wasn't trying to start any kind of drama, so if I did it was in no way intended. I care for life, and they are worth saving. I was just stating an opinion in the "daily thoughts" thread. I rarely post here in fear that I might piss people off. I will just go back to lurking.

LOL! Not offended Jebbaz! I know those seem contradictory, but I said to bring the nasty comments because I knew they were coming ;) Not because I wanted them.

Differing opinions make the world go round! That's why I love this forum, thanks for not ripping me a new one

I agree the radiation danger is low, so far. However, over 3 million people are without power, food or water and it's frickin' cold there right now. The ill and injured at the hospitals in those areas are pretty much fucked right now. If the hydrogen explosions at the power plants and subsequent results from said explosions aren't considered a catastrophe, I dunno what is. "Catastrophe" - a momentous tragic event.

First real time on SkinVideo and was doin my free show. Not only did I make tokens, I squirted for the first time on my own and on cam! W00T!

I am very jealous of Eva. I want to squirt.....

I am also curious why I've lost all motivation to get on MFC. I will be on tonight tho. Even if i have to put sticky notes everywhere saying cute phrases where people cant see them.
