I ordered my bodysuit for Phoenix! I'm so excited but I'm nervous because I usually make my own cosplays. But for $65 I was able to get a custom made outfit tailored to my very odd measurements. I will totally post pictures the very moment that I get it...of course, I probably won't have the wig by then so instead I'll be a pink haired Phoenix.
If you hair were red, you could pull off Rachel Summers Phoenix. She had short hair for a while. Of course the outfit may not match.

Little girl playing dress up? You could cosplay as the character doing cosplay! You could bring about the singularity! Doooo eet!

Phoenix from the X-men but just for this I might carry around a giant "Objection!" sign for photos.
[xmen-nerd]most commonly known as Jean Grey, she only used the name Phoenix sporadically, mostly in the lead-up to the Dark Phoenix story arc[/xmen-nerd]
:p
(sorry, I have around 20 years of uncanny xmen, x-men, x-factor, x-force, the new mutants, wolverine, and most spinoff annuals and combined story arcs sitting in mylar bags to my right)

I held back with something similar when someone on another site referred to Sabertooth as Wolverine's brother. Though she was referring to the Wolverine movie, which I haven't watched (and don't really plan to), and they may have pissed on history and made them siblings. And the person certainly isn't a comic book fan.

But in this case, nitpicking is warranted, I think. :p

Wow, actual comic nerds! Yay! I refer to it as a Phoenix outfit only because it's the green, gold and black outfit Jean Grey used specifically for the early 90s Dark Phoenix saga. I didn't want it being confused with her yellow, pink and blue outfit she wore as a member of the X-Men. Beyond that, after that horrible movie I've found that referring to her as Jean Grey makes most people think of a red corset and trench coat.

I've sadly lost most of my comics to time and carelessly loaning them to friends. And Magellan don't get me started on the nerd rage that fucking Origins movie induced...

90s Dark Phoenix saga.
[nerd]Dark Phoenix was Xmen 129-138, 1980  [/nerd]
Pedantic, but the green gold and black costume was used from around 1976, (Chris Claremont took over writing, the team got revamped and added new characters like storm, wolvie, collossus, and Jean got a makeover). She then changed to the red and gold Dark Phoenix one during the appropriate storyline - cos you know, you can't be evil without a better-looking costume and shit.

Yeah I agree about sabertooth that was just fucking stupid, it was implied they may have crossed paths earlier in the comics but never suggested they were related - besides which, Logan is well over a hundred years old (his healing factor slows age, and probably makes his sideburns grow almost uncontrollably too).

What I resent most about those movies though is what they did to Rogue - a) Wolvie had been a part of the Xmen many years before they ever encounted Rogue b) Rogue was basically raised by Mystique c) by the time Rogue came into conflict with, and later joined the Xmen she had already absorbed Miss Marvel's powers permanently and could therefore fly and had super strength, second only in team members probably to Collossus.

Instead of staying true they tried to jumble it all together instead of being more respectful and starting from the beginning - or at least starting from the New Xmen (introduction of Storm, Collossus, Wolverine, Sunfire, Banshee and Thunderbird), and introducing newer members in later films.

Seriously!? OMG, I'm so old! :crybaby: I assumed it was the 90s because those are the issues (and cartoon) I grew up with and I wasn't born until '87. I bow before your superior geekery. But now I feel old...no wonder I get blank looks when I mention Jethro Tull.

Youngin' you were born in the eighties! You have no claim on being old.

Oh and uh... do you nerd rage nekked? If so I'm watching that movie and taking notes.

The Wolverine Origins comic series (if you accept it as canonical) clearly shows that they knew each other as children. It's been years since I read it (whenever it came out), though, so I don't recall if they were related in some way or not.

I had to look this up, because I could not remember either.

Chris Claremont had meant for Sabretooth to be Wolverine's father, though this was disproved by subsequent writers. Claremont, when asked what he had intended to be the relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth, stated:

"Father and son. That's why Sabretooth always considered Logan "sloppy seconds" to his "original" / "real deal." The other critical element in my presentation of their relationship was that, in their whole life, Logan has never defeated Sabretooth in a knock-down, drag-out, kill-or-be-killed berserker fight. By the same token, on every one of his birthdays, Sabretooth has always managed to find him, no matter where Logan was or what he was doing, and come within an inch of killing him. For no other reason than to remind him that he could."[5]

In Wolverine vol. 2 #42, genetic tests performed by S.H.I.E.L.D. confirmed that Sabretooth and Wolverine were not father and son.

An interviewer asked Paul Jenkins if Dog Logan, a character from Wolverine's early life, from the limited series Origin was Sabretooth. Paul Jenkins said he had not intended it to be him, but said he would not have a problem with another writer doing it later.[6][7]

Wait...you're not referring to the character Dog Logan are you? They knew each other as children and both vied for Rose's attention but the scar that James leaves on his face kinda proves he can't be Sabretooth. To be fair, the author wanted Dog to remind people of Sabretooth just like Rose looks like Jean Grey and Smitty is similar to Scott but that's as far as it goes. Now, there might be another Origins comic because Marvel does love to retcon the shit out of Wolverine but I haven't seen it yet (which doesn't mean it's not out there because I haven't been able to afford comics in years). The one that I'm familiar with has no such childhood connection between the two characters.

I found out about a cosplay site with a wishlist feature at momocon this weekend. Ezcosplay.com, they have so many great characters and since amazon is sucking on the costume selection I thought some girls would want to check this out. I haven't looked much into it yet so I'm not sure about security, but I'm super excited to get a wishlist made of some hot anime costumes.

ok The fun thing about Logan / James Howlett / Patch / etc. etc. etc. he has been around for a LONG time http://marvel.com/universe/Wolverine_%2 ... Howlett%29 most of the history is there, Sabretooth and Logan adopted each other after Sabretooth's father killed Logan's I could go further into what happened but it's all in the comics. I have been a fan of the X-Men for MANY years, from the early 70's soooo to say the actual origin of Logan, there have been many, the latest and greatest has them teamed up early in their lives tho.

I'll look into this. Im trying to find someone to make a Mizore cosplay from Rosario + Vampire because she's the most adorable stalker ever but haven't had much luck yet.

I've gone to Sakura-con in Seattle and Kumoricon in Portland / Vancouver WA. I haven't done much cosplaying because I haven't had the money, but I have cosplayed Grimmjow from Bleach. He's one of my all time favorite characters and I am just obsessed with him. My best friend of the time cosplayed Ulquiorra. I confused a lot of people with my "man chest".

This is us from Sakura-con 2010. We were at the Bleach photoshoot. We were honestly the best Bleach cosplayers there that year.
