Advice on what to do after proven scam

Hello everyone,

I will be putting 2 versions of my “story” here, a TLDR (“too long, didn’t read” for those who don’t know ) and a little more in depth. My question is at the bottom of the post.

TLDR:

Non-nude model I used to talk to (and tip) almost every day tells me she’s going to try something different and sells me a vid. Turns out the vid is actually from another model.

In depth:

A non-nude model I used to be a regular for was talking to me about videos that she was putting on for sale. She wasn’t making as much tokens as she used to (mostly because her big tipper left I think) so she said she was going to try something different. She said she would be selling sexy pics (she doesn’t do anything but chat btw, not even tease) and a video. I bought the video, expecting a vid of her teasing or whatnot but it was a striptease to full nude.

Something that I noticed immediately was that, even though it sort of looked like her body, the girl dancing was thinner than her. She’s not fat or chubby or whatever but I could not remember her that “thin”, even when I first saw her some time in 2013. Another thing was that certain little moles I know she has, I didn’t see on the girl in the video. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Now a couple of days ago I was browsing the site and I saw a model I never watched before with a very similar body as the video I had my doubts about. So I checked out her profile and surprise, surprise, there were a couple of pictures of that model in the exact same bedroom as the video was made in.

I want your opinions because I’m:
a) angry at her because she lied to me and will be selling this vid to other people soon for 1000 tokens
b) angry at myself because I was the dumbass who believed her and got “scammed” for $85
c) not sure what to do… tell her I know that’s not her… tell the other model what’s happening… tell MFC what’s happening…

I don’t know what MFC’s standpoint is on this so they might as well just ignore it or maybe even boot her from MFC? I don’t really want her to be kicked off because it’s her only source of income but on the other hand it makes me furious that she is doing this…

The first time someone you think of as a friend scams you it hurts. Then when another friend does it it stings. By the third time you will start to feel gullible and wonder if you are too trusting. I would recommend taking her off of your friend list and moving on.

I like your post Ash... you are probably a little to good for this model, would like to see you move on to someone better.

Having said that we like who we like, it can be hard to stop seeing someone we are so enticed by...she knew you wanted the video to be her, you are rightfully angry. Some models are predatory, it is not typical of most models by the way, if you want to keep visiting her keep this in mind. It will help and you can still enjoy her from time to time, sadly I have a favourite just the same, an amazing woman but dangerous and uncaring with men.

Is this a studio model? Does she have cam model friends? That could explain the same room being used.

I'm not sure what kind of video you were expecting from a non-nude model, or why you'd buy a video from a model you no longer visit, nor do I understand how there could be confusion as to whether or not the video depicts this person you know or some other model. Is her face not shown?

That's absolutely unacceptable and both MFC and the other model need to know!
And you should tell the scamming model about it too, maybe she'll see that members aren't stupid and stop that shit. :? Honestly, I've never heard about something like this happening before.

She's not a studio model and the person in the video is 100% the other girl. Her face is obviously not shown in the vid but I took advantage of my 2 monitor set-up (which is for gaming not perving btw :snooty: :-D ) and having the girl's room on 1 monitor and the vid on the 2nd it was so apparent it's the other girl.

As I said I was expecting something along a tease video as she doesn't do that so I was surprised I got a strip to full nude video, which was my first alarm bell that started ringing.
It is true that I no longer really visit her but we got talking again and she was telling me she was going to try something new and the testosterone went flowing...

I'm not sure you should be telling her you know right away. You should tell the real model so she can contact MFC and be able to get proof of her scam.

So you bought a video from model A (who is non-nude and you've either never seen naked or haven't in a long time). Then while watching, you were surprised at how skinny/attractive/whatever she is. So you browsed MFC (one camsite out of hundreds), and just happened to be so extremely lucky that you ran across a model you think is actually starring in the video. Because she is already naked/dancing/whatever and her room looks similar to the video.

First of all, you must be insanely lucky to have found one specific model out of 30,000+ active camgirls on MFC, because those are almost some death-defying odds. Secondly, until you ask either Model A or B, there's no way to tell who is in the video. You can go ahead and ask Model B about it if you're one hundred percent certain it's her, and she might agree ("Wow! How did you get my video?!") or she'll tell you that you're wrong. We, as models, get that SO OFTEN ("Hey, I found a video of you on a porn site") when in reality, it's not us in the slightest. And I'm sorry to say, but since it's been so long since you've seen Model A, you could be mis-remembering her physical attributes. This happens often, to men and women alike.

Example: I dated a man for THREE FUCKING YEARS. We broke up. He sent me a link a few years later saying that he found me on a porn site. Totally expecting it to be a cap from my time camming, I was extremely surprised to open a video for a "Hot young emo chick" giving a bj. This chick had A) a skinny body, B) dark hair with side-swept bangs, and C) pasty white skin JUST LIKE ME! OMG! But, seriously, there was nothing else in common. She had a very distinct lack in tattoos, our faces are not similar, and when she talked, it was obvious that she wasn't me. I responded to the ex, laughing about the video, and pointed out that he's wrong. We had been extremely intimate, so I'm surprised that he was still so adamant that it was me.

Long story short, brains alter our memories after short periods of time (especially if you have similar situations taking another memory's place), so you could very easily be wrong. My suggestion is to message Model A and say something non-invasive, like, "Hey! Thanks for the video! I was blown away! Where did you film that?" She might respond that it was filmed at her studio/friend's house. If she says anything different (claiming it's her bedroom/kitchen/whatever), don't reply! Send Model B a message explaining that you think you might have found a video of her. SHE will know for sure whether it's her or not. But I highly suggest discovering the facts before you start accusing Model A of something. Because if you're wrong, you can guarantee that's the last time she'll ever be friendly towards you.

I don't want to write it all down again so... I am 100% sure it is "model B" and not "model A" in the video. I don't know what's the rule of posting screencaps here but I can PM you a screencap of the video and a screencap of model B so you can judge for yourself. You sound like you think I spent 5 minutes on this, but I assure you I spent a couple hours on this since I got the video in early january, as sad as it sounds

All I want to write down here is that Model B has all the distinctive marks on her body the girl in the video has. And of course her body looks the exact same.

I myself am going to something similar to you though on a much grand scale along with not receiving anything yet. I'm hoping like Ash if I can receive some advice and your opinions for my current situations since I can no longer keep it to myself knowing that other people will get scammed as well. Also it is tough since the model that scammed me is highly popular and respected from what I seen so far.

Some background information on myself is that I love buying custom videos more than privates or way more than Skype shows. I'm used to paying for them with either tokens or Ecards from place such as Amazon/Victoria Secret or my current favorite way to payment Google Wallet. I have used Payoneer, PayPal and Gift Rocket before with moderate success though those are more known in scamming people in my opinion. This incident took place June/July 2013 when I approached this model about the possibility of a custom video. She usually cams on Streamate and rarely gets on MFC but when she does she is usually snapped right up in pvt making it hard to schedule a private show with her. Thought I haven't know her for that long I am constantly being told she does amazing pvt shows and that she has a site where she sells solo and b/g videos. I first mfc mailed a while back asking if she take requests for custom videos where she said she does. After chatting a few times over what I like and what she does in her custom videos. We came to the part of the price of the custom video in which we agreed that I can pay via Amazon Ecard since that is her prefer method and one of my favorite as well. The price she told for the length of the video blew my mind out of the water since I knew I couldn't pay that at the time. After telling me the price and after I told her I couldn't pay I told her when she might be back online so we can schedule a private. Instead she told me that I can pay for the custom video in parts rather than all at once which seem logical and simple to do but that thought never crossed my mind before. Mostly coming from my experiences with models who usually require full payment before working on custom content which I grew accustomed and expected from. The price of the custom video the model gave me was $400 so $100 per ten minutes along with the notion that I can pay whenever I want. When she told me that I was beyond excited and agreed to it since at the time I could have paid it off in a month or two I am known to perv around with me being more naive and trustworthy at the time.

Late July 2013 I sent her the first $100 follow by sending her the second $100 mid September in which both cases she redeemed them right away. Soon after I started getting busy being a full time college student and than the months flew by. Before I knew it Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and my birthday passed. Than came late February 2014 I received amazing news along with extra cash that I been waiting for such a long time. I never forgot about the custom video deal I made with the model with it always being behind my mind and sending her updates about when I can send another payment. With the extra money I was able to pay off a huge amount of my car loan that results in me being it off 9-10 months earlier and I sent had quite a bit left over to perv and to use on MFC. So during the last day of February 2014 I sent her the third $100 in the morning and the last $100 later that afternoon/evening thereby keeping my word and paying her in full for the custom video at last.

This is where things started to get dicey for with her because before I knew her or tipped/paid her she would always respond to my message really fast. After I made the last payment I asked her when she might be able to work on the video in which she said that weekend or following week. Next time I know a few weeks passed by but no custom video or update about it so I message her about it via MFC mail or twitter. I got the respond that something came up but that she would work on it when she could. At first I didn't mind she was very patient with and I told her on many occasions how grateful I was of her allowing me to pay her over time. Soon two months past by and no update about the custom video so I message her again in which she said oh I will have it out to you in next weekend. Again nothing happened the following weekend and this continue for many more months with me sending her a message every two months or so until October rolled around. I sent her a dm on twitter asking about the custom video and if she is too busy to do it than I am going to have to ask for a full refund of $400 via Amazon Ecards. She went on to say that she couldn't do that and to just wait. Next thing you know she went on a vacation and had issues in her personal life that I won't mention. I send her a few more message asking about the refund more and more with little or no response just the usual next week or please be patient I was with you. Come mid November I asked her a few times on twitter via dm and tweets but no respond. A few followers that we had in common started to dm me about it since they were wondering about after seeing a few out the tweets I sent her. I told them that oh its all good until I called her out on it in which she unfollowed and blocked me from twitter. Later that day she sent me an email in which I ask for the refund along with apologizing for my latest tweet. All she could say was to be patient. I even offer as a way to saying that I was sorry was that I will send her an additional $100 or $150 Amazon Ecard once she sends me the custom video but I never got a respond. Soon after that I just started sending her an email a few times over the course of mid November to now asking about the update of the video or a refund but again receiving no answer. It than started to become clear to me that she doesn't intend to keep her end of the deal. I been scammed before in the past for custom videos ranging from $30 to $75 via Amazon or more in tokens but never in the amount of $400 like I have with this model. I discussed it a few times with a couple models that I get along great with to give me their opinion on the matter. With them saying that I am an idiot for doing that and to expose her to everyone with the common thing between the models that taking that long doing a custom video is mostly likely means that she is scamming me. Now I am more focus on getting a refund than the video itself since the very thought of her makes me angry to the point where I avoid going or chatting with models that is she friends with. The more and more I think about the more I get angry at myself for believing her and getting scammed out of $400. A few even recommend that I take her to court which I don't know if I could while others say I expose her identity via twitter along with the proof of the Amazon Ecards that I sent her that she redeemed. Therefore I am asking for any advice or opinion on the matter. Another common thing they told is they if they even a day or two late with custom video they hate that because they also like to keep their word along with staying with their schedule though I do understand and I am a big supporter of when things do occur unexpectedly in which I understand and have no problem as long as I am updated when they can continue. This model on the other for me doesn't keep me informed about it and the irony thing about it is her tag line of I spoil those who spoil me which in my case isn't accurate. I don't expect her to keep me updated everyday but once in a while will be nice since I'm sure no one will enjoy paying $400 for something and still not receiving it close to a year later or at all.

With other times lasting 6 to 9 months before I got the custom videos I paid for but with those instances the models kept me updated about the video which I am truly grateful for unlike this model who I feel is stuck up the more I hear about her. Also there is no way I can go up against her since I am only one perv compared to her fan and followers that ranges over 100,000. So I am hoping I can receive some advice, opinion and assistance for this mostly to avoid this from happening to another member on here maybe even get my refund or the video itself which is something I rather not have compare to the refund. I can in a later post reveal the name of the model which still surprises me to due her popularity in the camming community. I also have the proof in which I can screenshot since Amazon keeps a list of the people who you sent Ecards to on your account page. Mostly since she is very hot and has a down to earth but sassy attitude to her. Thanks in advance to all those to read this and respond. It's really not that hard as you're making it out to be, Iris, to run across a room or a girl that you recognize from somewhere else. The community is much smaller than it seems, even with your stated "30,000+ active camgirls." I find myself recognizing girls that I'd seen years ago on other sites, or girls who have pictures or videos floating around the internet outside of camland pretty often. Often enough, in fact, for me to say that it's a common occurrence. Was it good fortune that he found this other model that had been used as a body double? A bit, but it's been my experience that being "extremely lucky" is not a prerequisite. It's a small world after all.

If I were in your position, I'd giver her another chance to get things sorted in private and if that falls through, see if she's more willing to give you a straight answer in public, where her reputation will be at stake :twocents-02cents:

I'll just have to see when she is online again with the site she normally gets on is SM and from what I heard they can easily ban you on there. She rarely gets on MFC and I can't tweet about her since she blocked me on there. However, I will give her one last chance since at the end of the month will be a whole year of me waiting for the custom video. If she doesn't I will go full blast and expose her as a scammer on here so hopefully it spreads in the community since I'm sure anyone in my shoes will be pissed off in having to wait for a whole year for a custom video that I paid $400 for.

If she's also a member here I would go for the full name and shame routine and if shes not just post the link to this in her room the next time you see her online, it might save someone else from having this same problem.

Apart from taking her to court it seems like there isnt really much else you can do, also depends what country your from and shes from. If shes from another country then it gets even harder and you may just have to accept defeat here

Thank you and I will give her one week from today to give me a response whether she will send the custom video or repay me. I'm not sure if she has a model account or account on here but I know that other models know of her. I am not going down without a fight or at least for other members prevent them from falling for the same trick I have. I was naive and foolish by than and I should have taken her to a pvt instead of paying for a custom video. But I fell for the hype that other models and members that knew of her or had a show with her told me nothing but great things. I know I haven't been the best member out there but no one deserves to be scammed and that counts cam models and members. I do have to say that after all I have become less trusting of models which was never my intention since I am a huge fan of their work. So in a week I will reveal her name so hopefully anyone reading this would stay away from her and not purchase custom videos from her but rather just do a pvt or gold show instead because trust me that is a much better option in the long run.

I'm sorry of the late update but there has been developing news about this thing with me and another model about a custom video deal we had. The model contacted me within the one week time limit and finally agreed that she won't be doing the custom video for me and will refund me. However, this was back in late February and well I still haven't received anything back. I knew when I contacted her that she will probably not start paying me back right away since it was close to the pay period but now its late April almost May. I don't expect her to refund me the full $400 right away that will silly but of course amazing for me if that did happen. So hopefully I'm not crazy or demanding when I recommend the idea of sending me either $50 or $100 a month starting in May but mostly $50 till she pays me back the full $400. I know she is famous, popular and well off enough to pay me at least $50. Honestly I just want my money back so I can move on and close this chapter of my life with this model. I did promise her that I will not expose her identity since we came to an agreement but it seems to me that she doesn't take it seriously enough or might as well be a scammer that will only learn her lesson if someone exposes her. It did take me a couple of months to pay the $400 for the custom video since she rarely gets on MFC and there are other models I visit and have shows with on there. Just the fact that I paid her $400 for a custom last February and now its almost May well over a year and still nothing to show me that she really is the real deal people make her out to be. I'm really close in exposing her and taking it to court along with sending an email to the camsite she works regularly since they can handle it better than me.

Well I finally got confirmation from the model that she will not be refunding me back my $400 even after saying that she would back in February. The model name is Ember Reigns that I paid $400 for a custom video which apparently I'm not only not going to receive but also not going to get my money back. I urge everyone that read this to stop supporting her and make become aware that she is a scammer. Even after I suggested a reasonable and fair plan of sending me $50 a month till the full $400 is paid back which shouldn't be an issue for someone like that. I hope I can receive some feedback and support on what I should do next. I have prove of me sending her the money along with her statements about the video itself along with her clearly stating that she won't refund me back. Normally I don't say this about anyone but Ember Reigns is a cunt.

Well I finally got confirmation from the model that she will not be refunding me back my $400 even after saying that she would back in February. The model name is Ember Reigns that I paid $400 for a custom video which apparently I'm not only not going to receive but also not going to get my money back. I urge everyone that read this to stop supporting her and make become aware that she is a scammer. Even after I suggested a reasonable and fair plan of sending me $50 a month till the full $400 is paid back which shouldn't be an issue for someone like that. I hope I can receive some feedback and support on what I should do next. I have prove of me sending her the money along with her statements about the video itself along with her clearly stating that she won't refund me back. Normally I don't say this about anyone but Ember Reigns is a cunt.

400 bucks for a custom video, eh? There must have a been some wicked stuff that would have happened it there. My first thought was riding a pogo dildo while juggling bowling pins. As far as the rest goes, I ain't diggin' how you came off on this point, but whatever.

I’m sorry about my behavior but after dealing with this for over a year it is taking a huge toll on me. For the longest time I was being a gentleman about it just biting my time waiting for her to do the custom video but after that wasn’t going to happen at least having her have the common courtesy to refund me back. I talked with a few other models and those that know her knows that she should have no problem paying me $25 or $50 a month till the $400 is paid back. For the custom video itself I wouldn’t say it included anything that crazy or wild as you put it. I didn’t even ask for anal or DP or anything like that basically any model that had a custom video with me knows its starts with a striptease followed by her playing with herself and getting off. I just hope at least someone reads this and stays clear from her or becomes aware of her. I heard nothing but great things about her and her shows even that she done YouTube about what not to do as a top notch cam model. So this was a huge surprise to me and to be honest I was acting like a crazed teenage when she agreed to do a custom video for me.

The only thing that you can do is report her to the camsite on which you paid her. Let them know the exact day and tip amount. As long as your tip and all communication has been done on the site, support can see it. Now, whether they'll refund it for you? Who knows. But it's worth a chance. And in the future, only pay such large sums to a model who has already proven her trustworthiness (by purchasing smaller things first; does she follow through? Does she make your purchase a priority? How long does it take to have the tip acknowledged and how long before it was fulfilled?).

Thank you and I came to the conclusion that I will probably not receive my refund mostly against someone that big. The amount of fans, followers and white knights she has is huge or as someone famous once said “the force is strong with this one”. I might lose this battle but as long as I exposed her that is win for me so others can avoid that. From what I heard about her from others being one of the best I should have been more level-headed and done smaller things with her to begin with but I guess I was under the spell that top notch models were really trust worthy which clearly this one wasn’t. So I failed to do my own research which I usually do. I will still post my proof once I figure out how to do that whole technical stuff elsewhere like really I’m a big fan of custom videos and videos but I have no idea how to make them. Some models had asked me about it along with how to edit them or uploaded them and the only thing I tell them is that I’m an expert at paying for them nothing else. However, I do refer them to this place since the community here it pretty good at pointing people at how to make videos, etc. So as someone who is tries to look for the good out of something bad I did end up receiving a free $1 Amazon Promotional Credit for a music download so there’s that to look forward too. This makes me sad. Maybe its because I always route and fight for the underdog? But OMFGBA $400 for a custom video is more than I have EVER made total during my 4 year cam career on custom videos. That custom video better sing your ass to sleep, virtually drain your dragon(or pussy), make you feel like a ROCKstar...I don't know what but at the very least you should have gotten it. I can understand your feelings of frustration about it, $400 is a car payment or a week of groceries for a family and I hate that you feel like you can not talk about it because they are a "top model". Honestly anyone that would charge $400 for a custom and never cum through with it, is not a "top notch model".

Maybe it was a total fluke, bad time in her life or something. If this model is like this to others, eventually she will start to lose followers and regulars. Or maybe not because there do seem to be LOTS of members on camsites that are ok with getting treated like shit by what they consider "top models". I am honestly amazed at the treatment people accept, especially since they are paying for it.

I am glad you are looking on the bright side of things now and I am sure that the $400 you invested on that custom will be a constant reminder of a hard lesson learned.

Thank you that made my morning and I'm really sorry that I haven't been on here that much since I posted earlier this year. Every time I think about her or this situation it makes me furious so I try to keep away from it. From our chats since then I know she had a something in her life but that still doesn't excuse what she did or even try to make amends with me.
