So do we, however, when the UN tries to tell us how to run our country and disregard our constitution, they can go fuck themselves.

Well said. And the rest of the world would like to reciprocate and say the same back to you.

Addendum: a good point to refer members back to my first post in this thread re: US unilateral intervention in other country's sovereignty

Every one of those questions were leading in one way or another.

Of course they were leading. They are attempting to put the respondent on a political spectrum. The respondent has the choice whether to agree or disagree. Leading is NOT the same as loaded. :woops:

With Romney you'll get another war, social security turned into a voucher program, supreme court appointments who will quickly overturn Roe V. Wade, and more than likely a quickly passed personhood amendment that will outlaw most forms of birth control.

Right on :thumbleft: Ignorance, paranoia and fear mongering... Next you'll say incest will be the norm and forced rape by republicans. Let's see... who can we go to war with next?
 No, we already HAVE been forcibly raped by the Republicans.

If Obama had an ounce of real leadership instead of endless excuses and trying to look cool on camera while kissing everyone's ass for a vote, he might get something accomplished other than his basketball spread sheets, games, golf, vacations, TV talk shows, beer brewing and who knows what else he does besides what he was elected for.

The only thing he's done well is manage to grow government debt exponentially and raid funds for the future sick and elderly with no clue how to replace it or improve our current situation. He has plenty of excuses, but leaders don't make excuses, they make things happen and get things done.

Every President in history has had non-presidential activities; and every President in history has had BS from the opposition complaining that that's all he does. Your pal GWB took off ten times as much time than the current Prez.

As far as all your contentions, that's all they are--crap you're repeating that you've heard from right-wingers. The growth of government under Obama has been slower than any President since Eisenhower. He is NOT raiding funds from the elderly. The reductions are the SAME reductions that Ryan's budget proposed...except Obama's only affect waste. Ryan wants to literally fuck your grandma. Do some fact checking, quit listening to Faux.

WTF do you consider obamacare?

When you say shit like
Ryan wants to literally fuck your grandma.
consider yourself lucky you are out of my physical reach. You're disgustingly pathetic to stoop so low and the last time I put up with it.

A damn good idea, but it doesn't go far enough. It'd be a whole lot more efficient if it were single payer.

You know the dude is a president not a dictator? He has to have the help of Congress to get anything done. So blame has to fall on Congress for the current state of affairs.

President Obama even said himself it would take longer than 4 years to accomplish everything that needs to be done and with the state our country is currently in I can see it taking much longer than even another 4 years. But let's not go backwards by electing Romney. I shudder to think of some of the antics he and his clowns would try to pull.

Shaun__ makes a very valid point. The House of Representatives is unfortunately mostly Republican and while the Senate's majority is Democrat, it's only by a few so it's not enough to make a substantial difference. Kind of hard to get much done when you're sending your proposals to a bunch of your opposing party. People tend to forget about checks and balances!

Also I think it's quite the stereotypical American to say we don't care what other countries have to say. It's always good to get an outsider's opinion. Just because they can't vote doesn't mean they can't see what is going on, and they possibly can see even clearer because it doesn't matter as much to them. No bias.

A president can only sign bills set in front of him. The job of presenting him with the bills belongs to the 535 people who in order to get a bill on his desk have to play an mind numbingly complex song and dance and then, all agree enough to make a bill.

435 members are in the House or representatives. 241 of those people from day one of Obama's term have openly said, they have ONE goal. Obstruction. If they can obstruct enough, they make the public assume since no bills are being signed and no progress is being made, it's the president's fault.

If you slept your way though high skool, then it's understandable that you grew up to be a clueless easily lead voter citizen.

John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, the leaders and most every junior tea party member has openly said, their only goal is to deny the president a second term. They said that the day after he was elected.

So... you really don't rely on the president to do everything, a president actually does very little. Everything that gets done, or doesn't get done, is the result of the 535 people in the congress.

A president can introduce bills. Anyone can introduce a bill. By the time it runs though all the bullshit a bill has to, and it finally gets to the president's desk it's always far different than it started out to be.

And Obamacare is not "government run health care". That's a catch phrase republicans use to influence the weak minded and the stupid. The affordable health care act is health care industry regulation. If it were "government run health care" we'd all be better off by removing the profit incentive out of what should be a basic human right; health care.

Every other civilized nation on earth doesn't allow the free market to profiteer off of the illness of it's citizens. It says a lot about us that we allow it.

But back to the core mistake everyone seems to make because they slept in or cut to many high skool classes..... the president just signs bills, and occasionally introduces them. The 535 people in congress determine what bill he gets to sign into law.

A president has the power of Executive order, but if you study for 5 minutes what that actually is, you'll find that power to be fairly limited, and any EO can be overturned but the congress or the supreme court... or a new president. SO EO's are short term heavy handed tools to use when things just need done ASAP. They are much less "permanent" than a properly signed law.

Now, Mitt says he'll "get rid of planned parenthood" and that's a stupid statement, unless while I was asleep a president got the magic power to rid the earth of a private non profit org. He makes lots of claims about what he will do "the first day" that he as president will have no power to actually do.

He's an ass clown. Just like GWB, he's a little boy trying really hard to walk in daddy's shoes.
Mitt Romney made his fortune in two ways: Inheritance, and being a carpetbagger. He is super rich, he has bank accounts in offshore tax shelters. A tax dodging carpetbagger. He's one of these pussies who hid behind their religion to get out of service in Viet Nam, but had no problem protesting FOR the war. Quite a few of these vocal republicans dodged their service obligations. Mitt used the church to do it and spent his time knocking on doors in France... where they have never heard the good news, apparently.

Lets forget Mitt's a douchebag, lets assume for sake of argument he's a great guy. For that matter lets make him a democrat and a great guy running for office.

He's changed his mind so many times, even a democrat wouldnt vote for him. He was a pro life single payer liberal Governor but morphed into a pro life privatized health care teabagger. And he didn;t do it on the sly, he did it in public.... you can watch hours of video of him being everything a liberal democrat loves, then flip one issue at a time to be everything a teabagger beats off over.

Imagine for a few minutes how fast on whom he would turn once he's in office. MAYBE he's go back to being a liberal republican (remember those? we used to have those, back when government worked) or... he could become even more of a right wing teabagger stooge, and then you'll see what hell is.

His running mate is a worshipper of Any Rand, like most all teabaggers are. Ayn Rand was a sociopath. Ayn Rand was an evil little troll. Anyone who is a devote to her philosophy hasn't read it all or is just selfishly inhuman. if you really read all her crap and you dont gasp in horror at her philosophy, there is something seriously wrong with you.

But Ryan went from singing like a love sick fanboy about Rand to saying he just liked her to flatly denouncing her entirely and denying he ever actually said he liked her shit IN ONE WEEK.
I think he just beat off over the cliffs notes and didnt understand she was an atheist who hated religion and the church as much as she hated poor people.

On the other hand you could vote for the constitutional law professor who's been in office for 3.5 yrs already, who had a long list of minor steps forward under his belt despite the obstruction of 241 teabagger pandering parasites in the house. You know, the one who's not going to drag you and your daughters back t the 1950s praising Jesus every step of the way.

I'd tear into his stupid religion too but that would just be mean.

Also we live in a global economy, if you think we can withdraw from it, start cutting off the other major players like China and the EU, Asia and Russia and anyone else who isn't "american enough" or who isn't honest enough, you're deluded. The global economy is here to stay, and while crazy ideas like returning to the gold standard seems like a cool idea, it's not. Cut off China like we did Cuba? Really? And the wild idea we can somehow become "energy self sufficient" is a fantasy. The only way we'd ever do that is to carpet the desert with solar farms and the plains of the northwest with wind farms, and be willing to pay out the ass for anything petroleum based and use our own oil (which we use to make nearly everything from drugs to plastic).

We don't have to submit to the world economy and make a western EU type eco union.... but we sure can't play the Ron Paul teabagger isolationist fantasy. That would be suicidal. Unless, you wanna turn the US into a 3rd world shit hole, then lets go for it.

We even learned about how bills work while watching Saturday morning cartoons as children...

Most people think voting for the presidential election is the big deal, they are all wrong.... the big deal is congressional elections.

Go head put mitt in the white house. That will freak enough people out and like always, the party balance will shift, and the democrats will stand in the way of any freakshow fucktard teabagger bills they try to get on his desk... and he won't get jack shit done either.

Very much like the way the house has been holding up any sort of progress for 3 yrs, just to make sure Obama doesn't get half a chance at actually passing something into law that will maybe do some good.

Every presidential election goes like this, after the election we have congressional elections later on that more often than not, have the president's opposition party winning a majority.... somewhere.

That's a good thing, in the end it keeps one party from dominating and running amok. For 2 yrs the democrats controlled both house and senate, and they did a lot of little stuff nobody talks about. "they did nothing" as the republicans say is not true at all, what they did was lots of normal useful business. After the Republicans won the house majority, most of their business was anti abortion bills, insane budget bills, and lots of stuff they knew full well would NEVER come up for vote in the senate.

So to the teabagger right wing, they look real busy. In reality they were just being clever dickheads wasting time, and that's exactly what they wanted to do. NO jobs bills, no infrastructure bills no policy or budget bills.... just stupid stuff they knew would never go anywhere.

In a very real way, the republican lead house has been practicing a form of seditious subversion that is pretty low.

If you want to make your vote really count for something, vote in congressional elections that most people ignore and don't participate in. That jackass down the road in your district who is running for state Representative, if you disagree with his politics, you better vote on a local level to keep him from getting one step higher up. The state representatives in the house are the ones doing all the damage. State senators elections are just as important.

Presidential elections are the big fancy distraction where the asshats get to blame one guy instead of 534 other guys.

Repulicans:
-tanked our economy
-gave the rich tax cuts and gave the poor more taxes
-tried to reverse progress made in abortions and women's rights
-attempted to make a national religion
-did everything they could to keep the country from getting anywhere while Obama was "in charge"
-came up with half of the ideas within the current health care act which they denounce so heavily

Yes, let's put them in charge. Then the rich can own everything and the rest of us will either have to live with it or overturn the current government.

Four more years of Obama's lack of leadership is NOT what we need. He's proven how desperately low he will stoop for votes with his ads of trying to brag about Bin Laden's demise and Romney being supposedly responsible for a woman's death that is blatantly false.

Is that the kind of leadership you want?

He has nothing positively accomplished to run with so he turns to negative ads.

I am guessing you are very wealthy because that would be the only way you would see a benefit from Mitt Romeny. If you take the time to check the facts, Obama has done a lot including creating jobs with the green initiative. He said his goals were not going to be completed quickly. Quick fix=long term disaster.

We do not need to regress! I do think people have developed amnesia about the Bush period ...do we need another disaster like that?

I could go on and on but in the end each will keep whatever opinion they want bc too many people do not use logic or stats to vote it is all about emotion which is inevitably a dangerous outcome. And they say woman can't be in office bc of emotion haha right

People have very short attention spans and very short memories, that is if they are paying attention.

Most Americans DO NOT PAY ATTENTION to what is going on. So nobody looks back and says "All that mess was the bush administration's fault". When you do many people get all pissy and tell you to stop blaming other people for the problem.

It's like I buy a burnt out building, and when I start trying to rebuild it and say "the previous owner did a very poor job with the electrical system, it's the major reason for the fires" and then everyone jumps on my ass for letting the place burn in the first place.

Our economic problems started long before Obama ever got into politics.

I like Bill Clinton, he was a hell of a president, but I wanna know WTF he was thinking the day he signed the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act in 99. That act repealed the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 and pretty much put a bullet in the brain of our financial systems regulation.

THAT is the day we started to go down the toilet. And I often wonder if Bill got paid off or he had his dick in Monica's mouth and he just signed it by mistake. The GLB act was economic suicide.

But ya know, nobody remembers WHY the great depression happened in the first place, they forgot WHY they set up Glass–Steagall to begin with. 1999 was the year you need to look very closely at, and all the years after to 08. Then look back prior to 1929. Then look at the years from 1933 to 1999.

From 33-99 the economy was stable, steadily growing and debt was never really a problem. After 99, we ran entirely ON debt, and debt of unimaginable proportions. Hello 1929, here we come again.

You're really going to beat that Solyndra drum?

Not all investments in new tech are a success. I suggest you actually read into what caused it to fail before you blame anyone for lending them money.

Solyndra was one failed business out of many many that didn't. Mistakes were made with this company, but the mistakes were made by the energy dept. officials. Not Obama.

Our economic problems started long before Obama ever got into politics.

No doubt, but why give 4 more years to Obama's proven record of failure? What will change? He can't run on that bullshit hopey changey crap and Oprah, along with most of the other celebs that thought he was the messiah are now where??

Uz7cb.jpg

As for beating the Solyndra drum, read the reports I linked to.

You're right he should take responsibility for all the past administration's fuck ups.
Absolutely.

And 9-11. Totally his fault.
