What is the difference between Googlebot and Bytedance? Google less?View attachment 101982
They crawl my site a lot, I'm not sure why
I find the extent of data harvesting that social media apps conduct scary.
The AG's office here in Australia banned the use of TikTok on Commonwealth-issued mobile devices in April 2023, after the federal government was cautioned over the compromised security potential of Chinese input.
Not sure that I'm any more comfortable with all my personal data and usage habits being held by Western entities.
The videos are a byproduct a method to get much information as possible and throwing ads to the user.Same. I considered it an annoyance when their main goal was thought to be advertising. Now that the major social media platforms are all tripping over themselves to worship the orange guy, the data mining is more scary that annoying.
If they’ll change their policies to make one political party happy, we should safely assume they’d share user data for purely political reasons, too.
No TikTok here no Facebook, no instagram once a year a minipost on twitter/x.The only social media or type thing I use is Twitter. I've never used TikTok. I just don't like them all.
I only use Twitter because it was the one that used to be cooler to sex workers, and I only use it because it is for my business persona.

No social media here. I value my privacy...
Regarding social media: I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I hate the ads, the algorithms, and the way it makes people behave. On the other hand, I keep an account because I find some of the groups I’m in to be legit helpful and entertaining. If I could recreate that experience on a better platform with the same group of folks, I’d be out of FB entirely.
I believe that I saw a mention of a 1099 from a tiktok shop once. What did you mean by free money? So Tiktok is monetized, right? Do these people get 1099s or is just free money? That might be part of the problem, too.
No tax reporting.I like them...without them we would all still be putting up with Myspace.

Stripchat doesn't send me a 1099 but there's no escaping uncle sam...well....I suppose if I was braver I guess could try paying out to crypto and hiding it like that.No tax reporting.
if you don't have a 1099, you don't have an EIN for Stripchat, so how does that work?Stripchat doesn't send me a 1099 but there's no escaping uncle sam...well....I suppose if I was braver I guess could try paying out to crypto and hiding it like that.
It's a statement of earnings we use to report our income to the IRS, even though they already know about it. Then we go through the forms and see how much we owe or get refunded. What is a 1099? Asks a non usa user (me)
Would just put it in like self employed business income on schedule cif you don't have a 1099, you don't have an EIN for Stripchat, so how does that work?
I suspect you're the only one doing that.Would just put it in like self employed business income on schedule c
It's a copy of the 1099 they send to the IRS. You don't technically need to receive it to pay taxes it's mostly just the us companies obligation to show the IRS and then you get a copy of it.It's a statement of earnings we use to report our income to the IRS
I suspect you're the only one doing that.
I don't have foreign income. I'm not stupid. It's a copy of the 1099 they send to the IRS. You don't technically need to receive it to pay taxes it's mostly just the us companies obligation to show the IRS and then you get a copy of it.
...wait you haven't been including foreign income when you pay taxes? Hopefully you won't get audited.
It was 9-0. Unprecedented, really. Now here comes the fun part -- how to dismantle it?Someone's due for a very substantial financial contribution.
Doubt it, but the UK will use this to shut down Meta and Elmo on their turfs. Brazil has already sounded an alarm.I bet a smart lawyer could use this new ruling to go after other social media platforms with owners that pose a threat to national security, like Twix and Meta.
A little bit of both.Media here in Aus is discussing how many US-based TT users seem to be moving to another Chinese-owned platform known as RedNote.
Not a user of that (or anything similar) myself, but would be interested to see where that goes. Protest gesture or viable alternative?

Now that makes me want to create an account (WhiteWesternSlut ?) and go bother those folk - who are probably alter-ego accounts for We Know Who.Not everyone is thrilled.... (plus I've "heard" if you bring up Tiananmen Square or the like, it's insta-ban. Not sure if true or not)
