Hey y’all! I have a friend who is a sex positive writer and she’s writing an article that I thought some of you may want to contribute to - here’s her message to me

“hey babe, so I have a question, well more of an opinion. SO I have done some bits of sex work in the past but now I am writing an article about how free porn is just exploitation of sex workers and that you should pay for your porn just like you should pay for sex workers content. With particular attention on how pornhub for example is hella racist and has some very dodgy content that simply should not be exposed, or at least not for free. I was wondering if you would mind giving me your opinion as well as I am tryin to get as much points of the argument as possible.”

Pornhub is the least of our problems considering they are one of the tubes that actually offers models the possibility of paying them for their content and they have a functional DMCA department
However, if she is bent on demonizing Pornhub perhaps she should check Rose Kalemba's case, it's unrelated to SWers but does paint Pornhub in a terrible light.

I’ll pass this on to her and I think she means pornhub less about cam models and more about the free porn side of it but honestly I know a bunch of people that work behind the camera and in the offices at mindgeek/pornhub and I’ve only heard good things Maybe being in the UK doesn’t give her as much access?

Yeah and they seem to be slightly better under their new owners - I mean it’s not perfect but I hadn’t really thought of pornhub as the big bad wolf like... ever. That said I’m a cis white girl in a thin body who lives in Canada and experiences a lot of privilege so I think on this topic it may be better for me to ask others to educate me. Plus I’m new to sex work so I would hate to speak for people that have way more experience than me

Mindgeek, the owners of Pornhub, also owns several of the largest studios, they are probably the biggest producer left standing. They bought them for cheap after destroying their business with the tubesites they own.
Mindgeek are the bad guys, period.

So I wanted to say thank you for everyone’s input - my friend is so happy to have access to your opinions and ideas (I’ve been screenshotting them and sending them to her) and she promises to maintain complete anonymity unless asked otherwise. She’s putting this up on her blog for now and reaching out to magazines in the hopes of writing something more in depth so more input is ALWAYS welcome and so appreciated I find it interesting how opinions on pornhub are split so that will be a fun thing for her to explore!
