I started camming about three months ago, on MFC. I was pretty busy with work and school, and I wasn't on much, but it seemed easy and fun, but I didn't realize the significance of new model status and how much it influenced room traffic. I was doing ok, but the money has all but dried up. Now the only money I'm making is from skype shows, which I recently read, are frowned upon? Anyway, I've been thinking of moving to a different site, or stopping altogether and finding a more stable job. Has anyone else hit a significant slump? Or, viewers, can you tell if a model just isn't cut out for this kind of work?

I don't think skype shows are frowned upon so long as you still get paid with tokens. MFC can be a tough site when you're not doing so well. I personally find that summer months have always been slower, though I have still managed to make good money. You just need to work out what hours will work best for you. I sometimes change my hours so I can catch more aussies who are having their winter months. I am not the only girl who has this problem over summer, some girls even choose not to work during those months, but that doesn't mean you can't make the same amount with a bit of resilience.

There is a lot of information in the models only section of this forum which may help you boost your room. It might be worth looking at other sites and trying them out, MFC is very chat based, so if you are just getting skype requests there are sites which are more set up towards private shows. If you are enjoying MFC though and aren't in desperate need for the income it might be worth trying to bring your camscore up and getting some regulars. But if you're just doing it for income, it's your call whether to try another site. Some girls have awful experiences on one site and make bank on another.

Good luck! :)

I personally don't do skype shows thus far not because i frown on it but because if they don't pay you with tokens, it DOESN'T help you move up on MFC. You need token to raise your camscore, and a higher camscore to be seen by more people. I've had guys tell me they want skype because it's cheaper for them, but in the end, you suffer as a model without tokens. I'm new, and I don't make amazing money, but I'm working on putting in the time and getting regulars. The more and longer you're on, the more people see you, the more chance you have of them coming back. I may be new but I already have regulars coming back and giving me love every night :) patience! As everyone else says, apparently summer is quite a slow time of year.

Just try to remain resilient and consistent. If you can build up some regulars things should turn around.

But. If you do decide to join another site it doesn't mean that you have to leave MFC all together.

I'm trying to comeback to MFC after a three year hiatus, last night was my first show back and I didn't have a ton of people popping in but I did have some good chats and felt I made some new possible regulars. So one day at a time. And try not to get discouraged.

When you want to, really. It's a very hard time for new models now, the market is oversaturated, the summer is kicking off. And without work, effort and experience as well as some investements you will not get very far.
Myself I'm a bit stuck with camming for a moment, at the same time it's not something I want to quit, at least not for another year or two as it provides a good outlet to me. The problem is the money. I want to treat it as something enjoyable and that I do out of my own violiton not something I feel forced to do to survive.
I'd recommend getting a part-time or temp.

Private/ group activity at any moment on MFC has remained at a respectable 3%, but models showing 'away' has seriously blown out recently. As a member this indicates some serious negative sentiment or that the split-cammers/ multi-cammers are doing a bit better on other sites right now.
I suspect that easy tips are in a slump recently, making it far less fun to be a model right now. Models who know their room will do better than those who don't.

viewers, can you tell if a model just isn't cut out for this kind of work?
If the creative/ sexual energy cannot be maintained and refreshed when needed, as a member I won't be viewing this model much beyond some small talk. Keeping it interesting for us is always key; when that energy fails a model and they burn out, they will struggle.

Whatever you decide what you want to do, ensure that you do what is required to stay active in the chat room; engaged in it, otherwise you are wasting your time.
Staying engaged in a quiet room I imagine is one of the most challenging things in being a model. As a spending member, always looking for a new model/ experience I can tell you that engagement is always one of the first things noticed.
Be distracted by your phone, miss hellos, not pay attention to what is being tipped for, just sit there looking bored, or ignore other chatting members and no model will last too long.

Not cut out for this kind of work? Possibly. But, then again who’s to say who is cut out for anything. A lot of times we doubt ourselves when we are not succeeding in something in our life. But, honestly, does making a ton of tokens mean you're successful with camming?

But, let me ask you a question. Do you enjoy what you do when your camming? Are you learning from more experienced webcam models? Do you have a passion for what you're doing?

If any of those answers are no then possibly webcamming isn’t for you. Only you can make that decision. Hell, it might be something you only want to do for 6 months. That is completely fine. Everyone is different, though.

As far as the kind of shows you do that is really a personal choice. Are skype shows frowned upon? I know people that love doing public shows and people that absolutely hate doing private shows. It’s really up to you and what you enjoy doing. Don’t just do what makes you the most money, though or you will be miserable.
