What is a ninja on MFC?

what does it mean when models go "thanks ninja" ?

is it an anonymous tip?

it's a tip only the model can see. So only the model can see who it's from, with or without accompanying tipnote.

(it is not, as I for a short while thought, one uber member who tips all over the board)

It means someone has tipped them and chosen *not* to show the room. So the room will not see the tip but they do. The tipper can choose to make their name visible to the model, or anonymous.

On the model side, 'ninja' tips show up in grey with a note that says that the tip is not visable to the room.

In general, yes. But it depends on the relationship between that member and the model. In some cases, the Ninja may not care if the model calls out his name but just doesn't want the size of the tip known to the audience.
