Talk, don't type.

I definitely agree with this.

Also I think alot of new girls expect that they can just log on and the money will roll in. Which is true for some, but don't get discouraged if things are a bit slow to start off with.

We have a model's only board full of advice.

If a new model wants it, she just has to join the forum and send a MFC mail to Amber.

This.

I actually posted a section about it on my profile.

Including a link to Tubby's website.

ok....you models might disagree, but for me it's check out my cam.

If my cam is on give it a peek.....that's why i have it on. I don't ask models to check my cam unless I'm paying, but when they give it a look on their own it's great.

At least fake interest in me

I have interest in everybody and I actually really do enjoy watching cams... I just would have at least thirty cams open a day while I am in public chat if I watched the cam of every guy that asked.

Furthermore, I've had experiences with guys getting all upset if I'm not completely devoted to them and watching their cam... they get all offended if I miss something. I'm never purposely ignoring anyone, I just have hundreds of people to entertain in my room and usually at least ten people in PM. Us girls are always very busy!

It's nice that you said you don't expect them to watch unless you pay though... I usually will and I think most models would. It's not that it's all about the money and it's not that I'm not interested otherwise, it's just that I always have a lot going on! It's really not possible or practical for the models to watch every single cam of every guy that wants us to... :p

Hey....I understand Naomi...That's why I don't ask. I don't know how models keep up with their pms.

luvsyou,

I've seen you in my room before.

Here's a head's up- unless the model has her friend's list up, there's no way for her to know your cam is on without clicking your name or seeing your pm.

Also, my policy is politeness. I believe it rude to peep a cam without permission. Yes, you guys do for the models- which by signing up to the site, we gave universal permission for viewing our cams when we're in our own room. Therefore, it's not rude to drop in unexpected on a model while she's "working". However, I would be very upset if I turned my cam on for someone while I wasn't working, and someone ELSE saw it too. Especially as I hope to c2c with other models when I can finally get my own premium account. Then again, I plan to make it friend's only...

I just wish there were a way to make it friend's only when I'm not logged in through the model software, but am logged into the site under my model name.

All well.

Anyway, if you want me to watch (which, I do enjoy watching, as long as the guy doesn't get upset when I'm not watching the whole time), please let me know that it's on. :h:

OH! I also have a viewability rule. If I feel that I can't give at least a glance every ten seconds to the camera of a guy, I will not accept the invite to view the cam. No matter how alert my mind is and how slow the day, no more than three cams up at once- more tends to tax my internet too much. Most days, I only allow one or two at a time. Sometimes, i don't allow any- usually means I'm either really tired or incredibly distracted.

THIS! So many guys don't realise that there isn't a little icon or anything telling us they have a cam open. Sometimes regs open their cams and then get the shits with me when I don't click on it immediately. We DON'T KNOW UNLESS YOU TELL US!!! Some models are way better at multitasking than I am, but what with all the open chatters, 10 - 25 PMs and trying to look sexy at the same time, there's no way I can click on every single premium's name just to see whether they have a cam open.

My advice would be to buy your own domain and get a cheap webhost. Mentoring is also important. Find someone who is respected and model her way, even if that person works in a different field. There are good reasons why that person is successful and respected. Those qualities can transfer into any profession.

So damn true, and very relevant.

I'd definitely ask the models to come here right away. I think it would clear up a lot of confusion for them and they could meet some of the less trollish MFC customers.

But tryng to be someone you're not can be pure fail.

Look through the top 20 models in miss myfreecams - spending at least an hour in each room.
Find out what might work for you.

This is where you want to end up. (or at least above the very bottom).

Now, go to the model explorer on the right.
Select models newer than 1 month, and sort by camscore. - click on 'view full profile' to see the number.

You will see that some models scores have risen significantly from their initial 1000, and some have fallen - in some cases to under 100!

Again - spend a bit of time in the more and less successful rooms of this group.

It's also luck.
There are some things you can't change. If you're 18, you're unlikely to attract people looking for MILFs.
You might get lucky, and someone with lots of cash who you remind of their first girlfriend pops in on the first night.

Or it may be a long boring slog to get to reasonable income levels.

Do the research. Or if that's not you - leap straight in.

But first read the 'Good cam, crappy cam' thread, and watch 'Tuesday on MFC' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3FQpR_aWNI

1. Do some soul searching prior to going into this field, because once you're on cam ANYONE can see it (parents, siblings, classmates, future employers, etc). I really loved the idea of becoming a camgirl, but wanted to be sure that I'd like the idea in 6 months. So, I took my time researching the field, and 6 months later I was still super bouncy to start camming. It turns out that this was the best decision of my life. It could be yours, but don't rush into it!

2. RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH! Yes, I'm screaming this, because I feel it's VERY important. Watch top models, read their blogs, take notes (lots of them), study successful shows, shows that fail, etc. QUESTION EVERYTHING!

3. Invest in a good webcam / microphone. I promise, it's well worth it!

4. Make a daily financial goal and make sure you make it! Starting out - I made a low & high financial goal. I could settle on the low one (it'd pay the bills), but the high financial goal REALLY motivated me! I barely made the low financial goal starting out, and it was pretty frustrating. This month is the first month where I make my high financial goal (++ some days) with ease! Be patient, love.

5. Like someone said above, "TALK! Don't type!"

6. Don't make it ALL about the teeeeps (tips). That's so boring! Begging for tips is just as bad as basics begging for tits. Remember, people don't HAVE to give you their money (especially on myfreecams). People HAVE to pay taxes and who the hell likes doing their taxes?! Make people feel welcome in your room. Think of it this way... You wouldn't invite friends over to a house warming party and start yelling at them, "DID YOU BRING ME A GIFT?! GIVE ME A GIFT!" the moment they stepped in, would you? I sure as hell wouldn't. Don't get your panties in a bunch when people aren't giving you their money when you show your tits. So what, you showed your tits on the Internet - so did a lot of other girls. Get creative and have some fun! Remember, there are low traffic days on these sites, but if you're not getting tips regularly... consider that you should try something different, examine it (back to #2) and attempt to fix the problem. Don't be afraid to ask other camgirls for advice about how you can improve your shows.

7. Enjoy what you do, and if you don't enjoy it - GET OUT OF THIS BUSINESS! People can tell if you hate being on cam and will most likely hit "next model" if you're looking depressed.

8. Be respectful! Treat everyone how you'd like to be treated.

9. Take advantage of social networking (twitter, myspace, facebook, etc.) to keep in touch with your fan base. Talk about upcoming shows, schedule, your interests, music, etc. Allow your fans to get to know you.

10. Don't be afraid to use the Ban Hammer. Make room rules (post them in your profile) and refer people to them if they're breaking your rules. Ban the person if they're not following your rules, and not listening to your warnings. However, don't be a bitch and use it when people are just chilling in your room (not saying anything). I really hate when models randomly ban guys for not tipping. Some people are voyeurs and really enjoy just "watching" people. This does not mean that they have to participate. So what - they're not tipping you. Don't do shows in free/public chat if you're bothered by this.

Alright... that's part of the book I am working on. I am sure there are more....
