1. Do some soul searching prior to going into this field, because once you're on cam ANYONE can see it (parents, siblings, classmates, future employers, etc). I really loved the idea of becoming a camgirl, but wanted to be sure that I'd like the idea in 6 months. So, I took my time researching the field, and 6 months later I was still super bouncy to start camming. It turns out that this was the best decision of my life. It could be yours, but don't rush into it!
2. RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH! Yes, I'm screaming this, because I feel it's VERY important. Watch top models, read their blogs, take notes (lots of them), study successful shows, shows that fail, etc. QUESTION EVERYTHING!
3. Invest in a good webcam / microphone. I promise, it's well worth it!
4. Make a daily financial goal and make sure you make it! Starting out - I made a low & high financial goal. I could settle on the low one (it'd pay the bills), but the high financial goal REALLY motivated me! I barely made the low financial goal starting out, and it was pretty frustrating. This month is the first month where I make my high financial goal (++ some days) with ease! Be patient, love.
5. Like someone said above, "TALK! Don't type!"
6. Don't make it ALL about the teeeeps (tips). That's so boring! Begging for tips is just as bad as basics begging for tits. Remember, people don't HAVE to give you their money (especially on myfreecams). People HAVE to pay taxes and who the hell likes doing their taxes?! Make people feel welcome in your room. Think of it this way... You wouldn't invite friends over to a house warming party and start yelling at them, "DID YOU BRING ME A GIFT?! GIVE ME A GIFT!" the moment they stepped in, would you? I sure as hell wouldn't. Don't get your panties in a bunch when people aren't giving you their money when you show your tits. So what, you showed your tits on the Internet - so did a lot of other girls. Get creative and have some fun! Remember, there are low traffic days on these sites, but if you're not getting tips regularly... consider that you should try something different, examine it (back to #2) and attempt to fix the problem. Don't be afraid to ask other camgirls for advice about how you can improve your shows.
7. Enjoy what you do, and if you don't enjoy it - GET OUT OF THIS BUSINESS! People can tell if you hate being on cam and will most likely hit "next model" if you're looking depressed.
8. Be respectful! Treat everyone how you'd like to be treated.
9. Take advantage of social networking (twitter, myspace, facebook, etc.) to keep in touch with your fan base. Talk about upcoming shows, schedule, your interests, music, etc. Allow your fans to get to know you.
10. Don't be afraid to use the Ban Hammer. Make room rules (post them in your profile) and refer people to them if they're breaking your rules. Ban the person if they're not following your rules, and not listening to your warnings. However, don't be a bitch and use it when people are just chilling in your room (not saying anything). I really hate when models randomly ban guys for not tipping. Some people are voyeurs and really enjoy just "watching" people. This does not mean that they have to participate. So what - they're not tipping you. Don't do shows in free/public chat if you're bothered by this.
Alright... that's part of the book I am working on. I am sure there are more....
