Why can't they just leave models alone and go watch a porn tube sites? Soo annoying and disrespectful.

I think you may be confused about something. In regards to this thread specifically the recordings are not being distributed by the copyright holder (the website) but are being recorded from a live broadcast and redistributed against the model and websites will.UncleLewis said:I think these massive archives of shows will be a real problem somewhere down the line. Not a weirdo at all...but maybe premature. While privacy is still possible, even if limited, I shall continue to defend it.AwesomeKate said:It took me a while to figure out why I was siding with the cappers in my head. I read through this thread and others and found myself defending them in my thoughts a lot of the time. It seemed so weird to me that I would feel this way, considering how many women find what they do abhorrent and damaging. I feel that after a lot of time spent on it, I have finally determined why I am not against what they do. I will try my hardest to explain, but it's pretty heavy stuff.
Data storage is immensely important. How and where we (humans) store data directly determines how quickly technological advances can be made. After SSD's, there is talk that we may store our information on holograms, quantum computers, and eventually our own DNA. If you understand this, then you understand what this entails. Infinite storage that cannot be lost or destroyed. Infinite storage that can be accessed as quickly as your brain can access memories. Our species' ability to store and access information at an exponentially faster rate is what is driving our evolution. To ask that it is slowed down, as people are here, is counter-intuitive and pointless. It is happening regardless.
I know I must sound like a COMPLETE fucking weirdo right now, but I ask that everyone step back and see this for what it is. This one guy's set-up is only the beginning of a complete and fully automated world-wide data storage system. Everything that humans do will someday be recorded and stored. Everything that humans think will someday be recorded and stored. It is important to embrace this fact. It is not a breach of your privacy. There is no such thing as privacy in the future of mankind. Even this guy's porn storage, however weird that may seem, is a movement in the direction of a singular, unified, global consciousness.
That's just how I see it anyway...

Remember, MFC owns the rights to any stream that passes through their servers. I wonder how long it will be before MFC starts monetizing its archive of recorded cam shows. I don't think they record EVERY show all the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if MFC had some mechanism in place to automatically start saving any cam show that got more than 1000 viewers or something, to use in a "best of" DVD release or the like. What are all you complainers going to do in 20 years when some new owner of MFC decides to start releasing all the old footage?

If your brain can only comprehend a capitalistic, profit-driven society, then I imagine this would seem like a problem to you. However, I don't see this as a problem at all. I'd love to live in a society where everything is freely available to all people, and I don't see why anyone would want otherwise. There is enough on this Earth for everyone to have what they need to survive, and humankind's advancing technology will make it possible. Certain social structures will have to die in order to make this possible though, profit being one of them. And without humanity's need for profit, what use is the DMCA?
You could argue that things will not be made if there is no incentive (money) to create content, but I think plenty of content will still be created. I think content will have higher quality too, because those making it are not driven by money, but passion. And for those things that no one wants to create, there will be computers to do that.

Really, if this is your justification for how you feel about cappers, you should probably rethink it. Sans some world-wide cataclysmic event, neither you or your grandchildren, or your grandchildren's grandchildren, will see the society you're talking about.

You're not dumb. We have encountered different experiences throughout our lives and thus developed different opinions. It's what makes things interesting. Personally, I think it's beneficial to view the capper problem, and any other problem you might meet, in the light of evolution. It helps to understand intention, potential outcomes, and not get emotionally tied up in how a situation affects you singularly. I prefer to see things in the long-term, as I am interested in existence as a whole and not solely on my own existence. Regarding whether or not my grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren get to see the society I'm talking about, I don't care about that. It makes no difference to me when an event occurs. In an infinite universe, when makes no matter. It will happen, and even if it takes 3000 years that is okay. Nature's secret is patience.

I'm sorry but... this is an insane way to live lol. You can't form your opinion on modern day problems with the basis of what humanity will look like in 1000 years. One, because no one knows how it will look, and two, because it doesn't matter. We live in today's reality, on today's reality's terms, not in a world with the rules of humanity a millennia from now. You can say 'well in 1000 years everything will be recorded and freely available anyway so cappers aren't a problem' and you might be right about how the future will end up(and you might not), but that doesn't mean cappers aren't a problem affecting real people's lives in the reality we live in today.

Although either way is a valid way to see it- I feel Kate is providing an alternative view not meant to feel as though it were an attack on the effect cappers have in girl's personal lives. Is it threatening to envision a world you want to live in and take action to live that way now? If someone were to cap my videos and post them I'm sure I'll be upset. However I still agree with Kate as well. Both points made can coincide. I needed to say this because often I want to live in a world without the monetary system and talking about it always brings out a defensive response of today's "unlikely to ever change" conditions.

I do get what you're saying, but that is an obvious life long risk that you HAVE to understand and take when you get into this industry. If you want to be a school nurse, don't pay your way through school making porn. In the case of "Mary" she wasn't a naive poor girl just desperate to support her family any way she could, she OWNED a studio and then got involved in a publicized non-porn competition. That was just... dumb.
