To autoplay or not to autoplay? That is the question.

ok so I see that there is an MFC member that post youtube videos on model profiles which are set to autoplay, and many other members are being discouraged from going to model profiles because of this...
well here's the thing, my profile has a poker theme and I have a youtube video of the song "The Gambler" that autoplays as soon as you go to it. I've actually gotten a lot of positive feedback while in public chat from guys saying that they like that I have the song on there. but now after reading some of the threads here I'm not so sure if this is a good idea. so I'm taking a pole...
Should I have the song autoplay or not? what do you guys think?

I'd say the vast majority of members HATE autoplay. I know I do.

I went to your page the other day and I had my volume up all the way - scared the shit out of me. Then I had to scroll down (you've got a lot on your page ) and find the music player. I think if you're going to autoplay music, put the player as close to the top of the page as possible.

You can do whatever you want on your profile. The guy we're bitching about spams almost all the new models' profiles with his auto-play crap so he can get more you-tube hits in order to make money from it.

Personally, I think your auto-play fits well with your overall theme. Just keep the volume low and near the top if peeps wanna mute it.

Well the reason autoplay is disliked is because it's often loud, sometimes jarring, and always requires one to hunt for the player to turn it down or stop it.

Like Boce said it's your profile, I didn't find your use of it annoying, but it's an exception to the rule.

I may not be the only one - i don't hunt for players - i close the profile immediately. If i opened the profile to find out if the model is interesting i will not skip that model completely but this chance of advertising is lost.
I may come back to such profiles if I am already behind the "first curious" moment and turn all sound off.

I pretty much hate them too. Often my overriding curious nature forces me to hunt down the offending video or playlist and shut it down so that I can perv on the lady in peace, but I always find it irksome.

Using the filter post section you can get rid of posts with the auto play script in it. Hell, my profile won't even let you post an image.

Yep. No matter how cool the song is, no matter how much the site owner (i.e. model) thinks the music fits the atmosphere of the page, no matter... anything:

Perv surfs to page at 1 AM and gets blasted by autoplay music blaring out of his/her speakers. Perv looks around in fright and frantically tries to stop the music before roommate/spouse/child/fem-bot notices. Perv closes window. Model loses potential customer.

It's been said before, but it apparently bears repeating.

When I start hearing music or sound from a website, I immediately start closing tabs to get rid of it. If I'm watching a movie, I can't hear it. If I'm in a models room, I can't hear her. If I'm already listening to it, I can't hear there. Basically, if everything is quiet, I probably don't want music playing (otherwise I would have it playing already). If I don't just want it quiet, the new noise will interfere with what ever is already making noise.

I asked MFC back in May to include autoplay in the filtered word list *by default*, because not many new models or members are likely to find those settings when they start.

It was this post in the previous music/autoplay thread which prompted me: Subject: Music on a Profile

You can make it so people can't post images or youtube videos by logging into profiles.myfreecams.com, going to the Profile Settings tab, and adding these to the word filter: img iframe

Tada, no more auto play ...

If 'autoplay' is among the filtered words, by default or added by member/model, it strips it out of either Youtube's old 'object' or 'iframe' codes so autoplay=1 becomes ****=1. The Youtube video almost always remains and functions properly. [There are exceptions where an incompatible parameter like HD playback is used and filtering autoplay leaves an empty box.]

However, that would only cover messages, not autoplay within videos/playlists added by member/model within their profile. So I suggested *a filtered word list for profiles visited*.

That would allow the person visiting a profile to control their preference, without imposing their preference on those who might want to use autoplay in their profile or in messages, regardless of others (their peace, their neighbours, their computer's resources, bandwidth etc).

I think a filtered word list for profiles visited is the only solution to allow everyone to control their own preferences without imposing those on others the way Szia does.

They can post it, but visitors don't necessarily want to hear it. Autoplay within the profiles is just as much of an annoyance as it is in messages.

If you do have autoplay, please do not hide the player, so that others may turn off the music should they decide to linger.

It might be easier than that, How about an option to Mute audio when viewing model profiles?
I will suggest it.
