you can be allergic to tattoo ink, it happened to me!

... except my allergy didnt look that nasty. it just looked like an irritated scab and then it was over.

I dont understand how people can let that happen to themselves. Sure, you let your friend give you a tattoo in their dirty basement and got an infection. BUT WHY DIDNT YOU KEEP IT CLEAN/GO TO A DOCTOR/ GET SOME FUCKING ANTIBIOTICS.

Im thinking it might be an absess from something else. MRSA? HOW DO YOU FUCK UP THIS BAD.

My best guess is a combo of Staphylococcus and Strep. Those can take off FAST. You can have a quarter sized bump in an area on Friday afternoon and by the time the weekend is over...that. (well, maybe Monday. That was BAD!)

Whatever it was. There was no sterilization of equipment, skin, artists hands... i'm betting everything was filthy.

Well, to be fair, I was an ER nurse for five years and I've seen this sort of thing before. Lily is right, the smell is just overwhelming, you spend the whole time questioning how anyone could let this happen but with a combination of cystic acne--or a type of cyst we call "farmer's lump" that's super common in that part of the back due to sweat and bacteria accumulation--along with an allergy to the tattoo ink or just simple bad hygiene, nerves go numb and the pain isn't really an issue it's just a feeling of pressure between muscle tissue.

I once saw someone come in with a cyst about this size and they didn't know it, they only came in because they thought they'd pulled a muscle in their back. A wet cyst like this one doesn't put as much pressure on nerves because it just stretches out the skin and puddles in muscle tissue. However, after dealing with something like this, the first thing you do is tell all the other nurses on shift about it so you're not the only one grossed out.

Dina, are obese people more likely to get those type of cysts or do you think it was that bad because of the tattoo? The person in that a vid was large...

It is more common in those that are overweight both because there's more room for cyst tissue to hide and because it's harder to keep the area clean unless you have help. From the looks of it I'd guess that the tattoo triggered the infection, impact to a previously clogged pore or an allergy to the ink could easily cause a cyst to form...but progression of this magnitude would require both neglect and improper care. Meaning, either no one was there to see it or no one cared as well as improper cleaning methods.

A lot of people, no matter their weight neglect cleaning their back, thinking that soap and hot water running over it from washing their hair is enough but it's not. I mentioned Farmer's Lump earlier, it's a type of cyst that is very common in people that spend a lot of time in the heat and sweat and bacteria accumulates under their clothes before finding a place to fester. My grandfather was an avid fisherman and after years sweating in Louisiana sun he developed one despite being about as skinny as they come. It's not so much the size of the person because it can happen to anyone, it's more about knowing how to properly clean yourself. Factors like smoking, acne, hormonal imbalance, autoimmune deficiency and genetics also play a big part in allowing something like this to happen.

And I will never figure out why people think it is a good idea to get a tattoo from anyplace other than a clean professional tattoo shop! Does the word "free" override a persons common sense about their taking a risk with their heath?!. I have a friend that got hepatitis b from a free tattoo several years ago. And deals with liver problems today.

There was a person on Reddit recently that was looking for a tattoo artist, TO COME DO THE TATTOO IN THEIR HOME???
and I asked why, that seems really sketchy?
and the person responded that my posts about my camgirl services negate my ability to say what's sketchy and what's not.


... I'm thinking I struck a nerve and they have like, a house arrest ankle thing.
