I used to work as a cam girl in undergrad and immediately thought of all the rude basics and guests when I saw this lol. But I think we already knew what's said in the article.

Side note: the new (to me) mobile site totally threw me off lol. I forgot that the pink forum was a feature you had to select lol. I think my last post here was about a year ago. Forgot all of my camming logins and I don't plan to stick around but just figured I'd pop on and share this. It's geared more towards online gaming but I think it still has a few pieces of relevancy to camming.

And what happened to the thank button?? I am so confused lol. And I'm dealing with so much autocorrect right now... I've gotten a new phone since I left cam world so have to keep correcting "camming" from "cramming". Although I guess sometimes they're one and the same amiright? :lol

This is exactly what my ex has been telling me for years. She plays Warcraft and is awesomesauce at it. The minute that she outperforms a male player, and he finds out that she is female, the avalanche of abuse starts.

Honestly, I would say that it is possibly applicable to life in general outside of online gaming - online gaming just makes it easier to control the variables (such as perceived gender of the opponent) required to do a good research, but you can see it in other areas. For example, if you look at the cases of convicted twitter trolls (such as in this BBC article), those trolls are people who either are in a worse situation than their targets (unemployed or with lower income; stuck with a 'non-glamorous' job) or could be adversely affected by actions of their targets (and hence would be considered 'losers' now or in the future).
