When my brother owned a pet store, he refused to carry sugar gliders, because most people killed them within a month or two. He had sugar gliders once, because someone he trusted to care for them properly special ordered them.

Then again, this was a bunch of people, the kind of whom will get a dog and never train it, who don't really pay attention to their pets more than once or twice a week. *shudders*
They were able to rescue both the glider and hedgehog. I'm not sure where from, if it was a special shelter or what, because they live in a different state.

People who do what you describe make me sad. :( It doesn't matter what type of animal is, that's just cruel.

Guys, today I learned that sloths sleep for 20 hours a day! I wanna be a sloth when I grow up :-D

Also! A guy I work with has a sister who works at a zoo and she had to take a sloth home with her for some reason and she visited him on the way home and he briefly had a sloth in his house. Apparently it crawled very slowly on his couch for a few minutes and then just kinda sat/lied there until being carried away. I became very jealous when I found out.

Sadly, I think this is probably true for 90%+ of pet owners in general. :(

My first boyfriend's family had a bunch of sugar gliders. They are so amazing! They are super hard to take care of, the entire family pretty much revolved around taking care of them. You also have to have two of them because they will die of loneliness on their own. :( The brother kept them in a little man purse, it was adorable. :love5:

My brother only has the one sugar glider, but it plays with the hedgehog and both animals seem happy and well adjusted. :dontknow: But they both also get carried around on shoulders, in pockets and in his hands constantly and are never without attention except for when my brother goes to work. Basically when he's home, both animals are on or near him 24/7. He treats them better than a lot of parents treat their children.
