I just hit my 2 week mark on MFC. I have pretty good camera and mic quilaity, and I'm going pretty decent tip and pvt show wise, BUT, my room is very gloomy (no windows), my bedroom walks are a dark muddy grey, with disgusting red border. I've been stuck sitting infront of my bed to hide my gross room.

My question is, 1. What color should I paint my room? I was thinking a very light grey with white borders, and a black and white chevron duvet. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on where I can find cheap, cute decorations? Either online or at an actual store. Thanks!

I like Humpty Dumpty and Donkey Ride but Lucy's Scarf is nice too . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . or maybe Muddy Boots.

If you go with that bed duvet, I think you pretty much gave to go with red walls

Little red man show? That would be awesome.

I second Target btw, and Tj Maxx--- lots of good stuff on markdown there (even some stuff from Target). *ahh shoot, do they have Tj Maxx in Canada? I just saw your location*

I would like to highly discourage that color. My bedroom before I remodeled it was that color and it eats light like nobodies business!
You will be painting yourself into lighting hell.

I have grey walls/white trim and I like it, but I also spend 90% of my time in front of a red curtain or green screen. It works for me personally because I have so many different looks and costumes and what-not that it's pretty neutral and works with anything, but it does eat light a lot. It's also kind of gloomy.

No regrets here but I would say for most girls it's probably not a good choice.

edit: Also, any grey is going to look way darker once it's on the walls. The "light grey" I picked out is definitely pretty dark wall color. So if you do go with it, pick out a few shades lighter than you want!

Yeah I was going to say be mindful of what color you choose to paint for more reasons than you just like it and it goes well. Youre putting together a set that others will see through a distorted lens. Some colors will absorb more/less light than others, some will reflect their color onto you more than others (think of when you see a poorly done video using a green screen - you can see the green reflecting off of their faces/hair), and any color will look different on cam than it does in real life, and it will vary from camera to camera and with different lighting set ups/bulb hues. Your wall color will mess with the color balance on your camera, so youll have to play around with your color settings and balance no matter what so you can adjust it properly.

Also be mindful of your skin tone. If youre already very "pink", then red/pink walls will probably make you look even more pink and possibly even flushed/feverishly ill. A darker color will make you look paler, a lighter color will make you look darker (not necessarily tanned darker). If you have a certain tone that you want to downplay, pick the color opposite from it on the color wheel. For example if you think your skin tone is too "yellow", go with a shade of blue.

Theres a lot more science to it than just pretty interior design, and if youre going to spend the money and go through the hassle to do it all - you may as well do it in a way thats aesthetically pleasing but also flattering to you.

And I'll add to this and say that any girl who has a very vibrant wall color has to be VERY on-point with their lighting. These 2 girls have bright walls (left is more of an aqua blue, I believe, and JJ's is lime) but it's pretty clear that the lighting and cam settings on the left are causing the cam girl to always have a green hue to her. That's bad, mmkay?

JJ has immaculate lighting and cam settings. Every screenshot and pic of hers are fabulous.

The cam girl on the left looks green in every screen cap I've seen.

maybe her skin is actually green....and its not the lighting at all...

Thanks guys! From all the info you guys gave me, I'm leaning towards more of a blue tone now! I think I'll buy some $5 paint samples and see how they look on camera and such :)

I came.

target will be your best bet for cheap yet classy looking room decor. I guess you should have a room that can easily be changed around just in case you get someone who has a specific preference. The chevron looks great! Looks very inviting. Do you think the color and decor of the room is a big factor to the guys though?

The quality and appearance of your cam feed? ... YES! huge! It's not about the decor specifically as much as the mood and atmosphere it creates.

I agree, and you also really need to minimize distrations. My apt is tiny and I have a lot of stuff, so I dont have many options. But after I did a bit of rearranging and moved a particularly busy and cluttered piece of shelving furniture out of my frame area I absolutely saw an increase in general traffic and in the amount of guys who stuck around longer. Coincidence? Maybe. But I dont really think so.

Green too. A gorgeous model has walls that are a kinda lime colour. Totally messes with her skin colour. :?

Go super neutral, and if you're worried about gloominess keep it light. When I see camgirls with really dark paint it looks so dark or tacky or HotTopic. I dont know how to explain :s
Personally I really like the light grey walls in my place! But a light blue wouldbe beautiful too. Don't go for a teal, royal or cyan color, it will look gorgeous in a swatch but can be really overwhelming up on the wall. If you're going for a bold color be prepared to decorate around it and have annoying lighting issues.
Something like this could be really pretty and feminine

Also don't paint a disney character or ancient egypt mural on your wall.

I think you can do any of these colors as long as you're on point with your cam and lighting, as evidenced by Jolene's lime green walls in the screenshot above.

Indoor string lights can look really nice on cam and make you look a lot softer, amazon has a great selection.

http://www.amazon.com/MuchBuy-Copper-In ... ing+lights

If you use string lights though be careful, after I first put them up I got string light fever and decided I needed string lights in every room and on every mirror. It stops being a nice "added touch" when you have ten different strands throughout your house :p

On another note...
I love the color of my camspace but I totally have to plan around it, and it does get a bit overwhelming when I wear green socks... haha that light-ish blue color is nice!

Another thing I encounter is when the model looks just fine in public with the camera framing just her head and shoulders, then a private, group show or gold show occurs and she pans the camera back...and suddenly, everything is neon yellow. Sometimes backing off on saturation helps, but if this is overdone, everything becomes gray. I'm thinking that investing in good lighting is just as important as a good camera and computer.
