I haven't told my mom or aunt yet. They are the only ones who don't know (and I could care less about the rest) but I know that they will find out someday lol I'm just putting it off as long as possible

Pretty much everyone knows I do sex work except for my parents. My mom is out of my life, so it doesn't matter. Dad would probably take it in stride while being disappointed like he did with me presenting feminine. Probably try to convince me to move back with him and do electrical work again.

This is the truth about cam work. But isn't this common sense? We are taught about the repercussions of posting on the interenet in elementary school lol. Also I just have to say this and I may be standing alone in this opinion but why did you feel the need to use the term cam"whore" and so repeatedly? Is cam"model" not sufficient of a term to get your point across without being so ... potentially offensive.

Well goodness I sure feel old...

Ditto. There was no internet when I was in elementary school. But we did have a rousing one week special class in 3rd grade to teach us how to use that new invention; a calculator. The M+ button was especially fascinating.

Refreshing to see that a lot of models understand the reality they inhabit. Sadly, many still think we can unring all these bells, but camming and denial are a dangerous mix. To accept that privacy is essentially dead for everyone is a bitter pill, but cam models and streamers acknowledging they're particularly vulnerable may actually lead to positive outcomes, i.e., you can't blackmail me with something I've accepted isn't really a secret. Watermark everything and consider unauthorized uploads valuable promotional material rather than stolen end product, and your audience will grow; stop playing DMCA whack-a-mole with Pornhub and flip that relationship into a residual revenue stream. You don't need to be in AA or a church to get something out of the Serenity Prayer.

Consider the words of Gabe Newell, the founder of Valve and primary owner of Steam, a man who would know something about it: "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem." Say I just bought some wishlist items for a camgirl I'm crushing on, and she unboxed everything when I wasn't around to catch the stream. My fault for not explicitly stating the look on her face was part of what I was buying, but still a disappointment I'd throw a few bucks at to correct. She's not set up to record her shows (though I'm pointing her to this thread to maybe fix that) but oh hey there's a low-quality recording of it on FloopStore. Guess who I actually want to pay for a recording of that show, and guess who is actually getting my money? You can't really "fight" piracy, but you can start to make it irrelevant.

Finally, to the camgirls who grok all of this but still have to deal with pervs who don't / want to feel they're doing you some big favor pointing out the fact that piracy is a thing, I offer you this humble meme:

and as interweb services evolve expect better free image processing tools like TinEye

they WILL be able to correlate to your social media profiles in your personal life easily

Although I'm not ashamed of what I'm doing, I would never tell anyone irl since I know that all of them would judge me more or less, waiting a moment to use it against me. Besides, there's no reason to share it at this point when I'm not even a successful model. I'm an introvert and secret exhibitionist so I kinda enjoy even more while keeping it secret. Yes, sometimes I'm paranoid that it will somehow be revealed but the risk is small - I blocked my location and I'm from small and poor country with real cheap hookers everywhere so these sites are not that popular here. And I can't think of anyone I know who would watch camshows while traveling abroad :haha:

Somewone could use an anonymizer to get around your geoblocking.

I have younger nieces and nephews that will I'm sure find out later, but my family knows what I do. To a degree, anyway. I was up front about it because my family is a bunch of drama-llamas, and this way its not traumatic or a big deal. I refuse to be ashamed, be I'm not doing anything to be ashamed of. Everyone (pretty much) fucks. Everyone masturbates. My Mom was concerned at first, but I pointed out that if people didn't like to fuck no one would be here. Also I've done far kinkier stuff in relationships than I ever did on cam lol.

This is why I love camming. I produce all of my stuff and I have final say on what goes out there. I do everything myself, so I have final say in everything. Maybe that makes me a control freak, but it puts a sense of pride in my content, IDK if its that way for everyone. I know if its out there, I made it. I don't have to worry about someone in the room pressuring me to do something I'm uncomfortable with, or that I don't want to do. So if someone runs across my stuff and ever calls me on it, my first question for them would be, you're perusing porn sites and trying to judge me? Hahaha, pervo. :p

This forum is a little scary but incredibly important for girls staring out to read! I waited two years from when I first wanted to cam to actually start, to make sure it was really what I wanted, and that the risks were worth it.

Like a lot of the other girls here I told my Mother a censored version of what I do. I also am gradually telling the majority of the people in my life. This really takes the heaviness of the secret away. If (and when) I am eventually found by someone I know, I already have a huge support network around me of people who know (therefore my world wont be turned upside down).

I highly recommend that if you have people in your life who wont judge you, wont gossip and you feel comfortable sharing with, that you tell them in your own time. Of course this is dependent on everyone's unique situation however it has helped me so much knowing that the shock of people finding out will be diluted.

Its also my opinion that living at home isn't a great idea if your camming is a secret from whoever you are living with. This is for multiple reasons with the two biggest being that you will a) Have more freedom on cam to do what you want (i.e. move around the house freely, perform shows in the garden, be louder, not have to hide your toys) and b) If you are living at home when your family find out it could be incredibly awkward and I have heard stories of girls being thrown out (I really feel for these girls).

Of course all of the above is just my opinion learnt from my own personal situation, but I hope it helps someone. I hope everyone works out a way to be able to embrace their cam selves and not think negatively of it x

I remember reading this before I started camming and I believe it's important for everyone to read it and hammer it into their head. I didn't come to camming until I had to. When my mental health made it so that I couldn't hold down and do a job with enough hours to live. I tried and tried and in the end I couldn't so camming became a last option that I have to find a way to make work. I don't think I'll ever tell my parents because having a muslim upbringing complicates things but if/when they find out I'm ready.

Hey, my mom didn't throw a "Welcome to the Adult Industry" party. Totally wish she would have lol. She didn't know I do nude tho, and I regret a bit ever telling her sometimes. Every time it came up she kept saying that she hopes I never do nude, or even topless. The last time she kept repeating how it's degrading, I got a bit pissy. Camming is not degrading. You know what's degrading? Being with someone for 4 years, and finding out they cheated the entire time on facebook. That's degrading. At least now I have fun and no one steals from me and tries to ruin my life. She didn't have anything to say to that.

On another note, I was thinking of this thread today. There's a big blow up on Twitter (of course) about this "family man" vlogger on youtube and his confrontation with a camgirl. The way I understand it, Dude was sexting back and forth with her, and they were chatty friends. She mentioned something rando about his family, and he apparently flipped out. He, I guess, got really ugly with her, so she posted his messages about his fetish and his sexts on Twitter.

Its still got legs on FB and twitter.... IMHO, it was pretty classless of them both. Despite the "the camgirl community always supports their own" mentality, I'd love to know why she felt it necessary to broadcast the details instead of realize it was a 'cheating situation' and let it die. Oh wait, I bet her MFC room count went way up....... Nevermind. :p

I agree with you there. IMHO camming isn't cheating, because in my mind you have to have 2 people to cheat. A cammer is a construct. A character, much like cheating with a TV character. Yes cammers are people, but the custies see what we show them, and nothing else. Its a business relationship. It sucks she set herself up like that.

No matter who you are, your words can come back to bite you. Nothing put out electronically ever dies.

I told my dad while he was driving. He closed his eyes and mumbled but he shrugged it off in the end.

"You're not mad?"

"Honey, was I mad when I caught you watching porn years ago? I raised you so I know that you have opportunities to be whatever you want to be. It also help that I had practice with your older sister when she said she wanted to be a porn star."

Then I told my family about being nude model. I didn't have much choice because I accidentally shared my nude picture from a photoshoot in the family chat on Facebook when I meant to share it with my older sisters. They laughed but was cool about it.

Then I told my older sisters that I was actually doing cam. They were cool with it. My older sister joined Chatubate whereabout I'm on MyFreeCam. We made sure to block each other and all the regions but still give each other advices, support and such.

My husband was the one who pointed out MyFreeCam. His family is the only one I'm concern about but he's super supportive and encouraging that he say to not let it stop me from doing what I want to do.

I'm pretty lucky that my family and friends are really open minded when it come to that kind of stuff. Few may not like it but they don't bash at me over it. It also help that I don't think being sex worker is something to be ashamed of. It's our body. It's our mind. We control it. I love to fap and it's awesome to be paid for doing it. Kinda like being paid to play games.

Sometimes I get really scared over the idea of someone finding out. Then I realize that my cringey emo poetry is somewhere online as well, and I am way more embarrassed over that than my ass in nice underwear and me getting paid to do what other women give up for free.

Only my bf and best friend know I cam. Im sure it will get out eventually but I really don't give a fuck really. How many millions of pictures and videos are out there?! Its literally almost infinite. As other girls said id be more embarrassed if my old emo blogs got out lol. It is what it is. If people find out so be it.

My sister knows and she's ok with it. I'm pretty sure one day my mom will find out about it but she doesn't have room to talk (she became a stripper when she had me and my twin sister to support us). I enjoy camming and though I haven't posted any pictures or videos yet I will be soon. Camming makes me feel good about myself and I'm no longer ashamed of my slight mom bod. The only person I care about seeing anything is my grandma :nailbiting: I really hope she never finds out lmao

I'd like to hear about people who actually got found out. I know of videos getting leaked by exes and etc all the time, but they already knew each other irl. And despite everything, it seems to happen once in a million years -everyone i know is sending nudes, but almost no one's actually leaking them. At the end of the day, people don't care unless you're famous. How often does an average cam model get dramatically found out? I imagine it should be way more common, since nudes go to 1-2 people while cam is available to thousands, but actual cases?

Haven't a bunch of us told our stories in this thread already....?
