I'm super picky about the bread that it goes on. So I selected white bread only, even though I'd be ok with a soft wheat/potato/egg bread, too. Just not hamburger buns or other carbalicious vehicles. And no sourdough or rye. Ew. Reserve those for toast and meaty or cheesy sandwiches only.

Smooth or chunky depends on my mood. Strawberry vs. grape is up in the air. I'll take an orange marmalade on occasion if available. I'll take straight up jelly, but I may prefer preserves with chunks of sugary fruit in it. Especially if it's strawberry. Gimme chunks.

The ratio of jelly to peanut butter needs to be like 60/40. Too much peanut butter makes it hard to swallow.

Fuck you I want a PB J now.

If there was a "raspberry only" option I would have selected that! And I usually only like whole grain/12-grain/multigrain. I completely agree with the jam to PB ratio of 60/40.

I'm actually sitting here with a PB and raspberry jam sandwich on multigrain as I'm typing this.

Also, PB&J with banana slices in the middle can be quite delicious! :thumbleft:

Holy shit. You are my PB AND J soulmate.
Seconded to everything you just said.

Raspberry or blackberry jam. Yissss.

I love the flavor of raspberry but the seeds are annoying. :(

I guess I should jump in here too

I prefer smooth but sometimes I'm in the mood for chunky.

I actually like major brand peanut butter for sandwiches (Peter Pan, Skippy, Jiff).

This is one time I like white bread but I've used everything including hotdog or hamburger buns, biscuits, english muffins, etc. I agree, rye might be a little odd.

Grape or strawberry but I'll use other varieties as long as it's seedless depending on what I'm in the mood for.

Weirdest, hmmm...

PB and Mallow Creme? I've also had PB on a hamburger (it's insanely delicious).

If you are inclined to make your own jelly... This thing, with the correct attachment, will strain seeds out of raspberries, blackberries, grapes, tomato's... you name it. Pulp and seeds go out the end. Nothing but juice goes in the bowl. Even strains out the peels on tomato's.

Yes, I have one.

The one I like the best is homemade bread, still warm. Peanut butter made fresh from the local Mennonite country store where they have the machine they just load up with peanuts and it mashes it into peanut butter while you wait. They have one variety where they add honey to it that is the best ever. (They also do Chocolate peanut butter) And then for jelly it's a toss up between homemade rosehip jelly, mint jelly, or ground cherry/pineapple jam. The mint jelly has to be made from spearmint leaves, not the peppermint plant though.

We use to make a lot of stuff from scratch growing up, even to the point of going out into the woods to gather wild rosehips, blueberries and chokecherries. So it reminds me of that.

I only use wheat bread for sandwiches of any type. Any smooth peanut butter exists in my world. I preferably use grape jelly, but I have enjoyed strawberry jelly before. Now that you know the details, I want ten PB&J sammiches right now, Zen. Get on it, brah. Chop, chop!

This is making me so hungry!

I like white or wheat bread, not too picky. For a PB&J I prefer smooth peanut butter with blackberry or Saskatoon berry jam! Mmmm.

Seedless is a thing!

(Although I love the seeds. Guess that is just the masochist in me. :shifty: )

I prefer white bread, smooth peanut butter (although chunky will do if necessary) and black raspberry jam. For a twist, I will butter the bread and grill the sandwich like a grilled cheese. :twocents-02cents:

TIL there is such a thing as Saskatoon Berries...

I always buy seedless jams. My teeth are so tight together a berry seed can make me most miserable.

I just got back from the store with peanut butter and both grape jelly and seedless strawberry jam.

There is a food cart in Portland that makes various grilled peanut butter sandwiches, and they are delicious.

There are other options in the PB&J universe that aren't included! :snooty:

I'm not really picky about what it goes on, as long as it's whole-grain (toast and flatbread mostly), but I only use the natural (oil on top, no sugar, etc) kind, and my preferences are either orange marmalade or apricot jam.

I like Smooth peanut butter and a lot of different kinds of Jelly. I have a batch of homemade muscadine jelly that is really good. But, I will only eat it on toasted bread. I don't like the taste or texture of soft bread (I know, I'm weird, I heard it all my life). But, if it's toasted it's very good.

I like red plum jelly or jam-- yum. But I'll do mostly anything except like mint jelly or jalapeno jelly on a PBJ.

I'll usually pick creamy PB if I have my druthers but I'll eat chunky too if it's around.

The bread doesn't matter as long as it's not super-thickly sliced. White, wheat, potato. I suppose probably no sourdough, although sourdough is incredible with apricot jam on it.

I prefer apple jelly but will go with grape on occasion. But the bombdiggity is to mix peanut butter with syrup and spread that on white bread...it'll make ya slap your grandmama and tip your cam girl!

Chunky, all natural PB butter with no sugar added straight out of the jar (spoonful please). I used to make my own nut butters and jellies a few years back, I think I ate so much from both back then, that nowadays I barely have any. Flavor wise, strawberry or raspberry for jellies and hazelnut butter are my favorites.

I am all about pb&js but I don't eat them enough to keep jelly on hand very often. I only buy chunky peanut butter (it's nice to put in things like pad thai, too!), and I generally buy strawberry or blackberry jelly/jam...um whichever. It's gotta have fruit chunks! I will use any jelly-type thing I can get my hands on. I also like extra jelly because peanut butter makes my mouth too dry! I will use whatever kind of bread I have, yes, even hamburger buns, but my favorite is super soft white bread! It's hard to eat pb&j on grainy breads, imo.

Never, ever chunky peanut butter for anything. That stuff is evil and not meant for human consumption. It has to be smooth.

Jam/jelly any and all. I'm not particular. Jam, jelly, preserves, marmalades. All is good.

White soft bread only.

Chunky peanut butter can die in a fire, there is no good use for it ever in the universe for anything other than torture. :naughty: Get out of my face, chunky pb.

I love blackberry jam/jelly though. That is a real treat for me, I grew up with blackberries in my back yard and it takes me back to my childhood. :h:

I alternate between white bread and sandwich wheat bread.
Smooth PB
I mostly use Grape but when I can get to the local flea market
produce shop I pick up seedless blackberry.
