I was browsing some cams today, and I came upon Chalri_Snow. I also saw her holding up a sign saying this Friday, all the money earned that day will be donated to the Red Cross to help Hurricane Sandy relief. She also promised to post the receipt from the Red Cross on her profile when she donates after getting paid for next pay period.

This isn't the first time I've seen models offering to donate money to disaster relief. I remember after one of the tsunamis, an Ausiie model donated to that relief effort.

So, does anyone else know of any models who are or have donated earnings to disaster relief?

It's good to see this sort of thing. It might also be good publicity for the cam model community if it became more known that cam models do help in these sorts of situations.

I would need more then both hands to name the times I have seen models who have actually donated. Often times (not always of course) they will post screen caps of there donations.

Also a good cause. Definitely worth noting. I come from a military family, and my brother did 3 tours in Iraq.

Not directed related to the topic but still somwhat related in terms of charity.

The model SuperEmmy (been under a few names, EmmyLove when i saw her first doing this) for the past 2 years has raised money for the toys for tots foundation/charity. All tokens made goes towards buying toys which she then donates. On her profile, she has pictures of the receipts and toys.

Charli_Snow said that she will be donating all tips to the Red Cross today (Friday 16 Nov.)

Hi Everyone!

Yeah! I spent all day Friday online and working to help people who really need it! Happy to report that we raised $1,634.50!!! Pretty excited about it! I can't wait to get paid and send the money! I had a lot of really amazing people in my room on Friday! :)

That is sooooo awesome! We all definitely need it here in NY and everyone else that got hit really bad by Sandy!! I REALLY don't trust Red Cross at ALL. . or FEMR. . I have witnessed and seen some horror stories. It's like they just profit off of other people's misfortune. :/ There is just not enough help to go around, and it is sad. Our mayor doesn't give a shit. I lost my apartment and my belongings, and I consider myself LUCKY after I've seen elderly couples lose their homes completely. Elderly couples who have no nearby family trying to get away from the winds and trees and all of us others frantically trying to find a shelter (there was NONE because the city didn't prepare, and no firemen or help or anything would come to our side during the storm bc it was too dangerous) ...the wonderful city was SO prepared for this. . they told us we were not a Zone A and didn't have to evacuate. There are families who have NOWHERE to go. My next door neighbor's brand new, million dollar home got DESTROYED. What do insurance companies do? Oh. . pay you 10%. . HA. I honestly think the best thing to do is to call a church, or something, in an area you know was directly effected. . find a list of families, elderly people, etc that REALLY need the help. . and give $$ to them directly. Then, you know that none of your donated cash is going to useless overhead costs (like paying phone representatives 20/hour psssh).

Not exactly 'disaster' relief ..

I've done Habitat For Humanity

Watermelon Ranch No Kill Rescue

ASPCA

The screencaps are always posted on my profile and I'll usually donate live on cam.

Next month I'll be rolling out a new plan to do a special charity day once a month... going with something like "Rooting for the Underdogs" I want to focus on charities that are truly struggling... smaller organizations. Having been at the helm of a small town animal shelter, I understand what a $1000 check can do. I'll post in here when I have more details about these events.

Thanks! Every little bit helps, right? :)

Lolli, that's awesome! I was actually toying the idea of doing something similar. I honestly felt amazing the whole day, knowing that I was doing something really good for people. I may do Toys 4 Tots next month. We'll see how it goes.

Ginger, I've heard similar stories about Red Cross. A guy in my room on Friday sent me this link to donate directly. I've been super busy with school all week but I think I'm going to do some research and when I donate make sure it's to an organization that will give it 100% to the people who need it.

This is not unique. Though highly commendable.

I have often stumbled across rooms where the model was donating all tips to some charity or another. For those, I always tip. Even I don't stick around.

I'm a believer in the human spirit and don't check back to see if the donation was actually made. I tipped in good faith. If the model was scamming, it's on her.

I also think this is a highly under acknowledged part of the cam world. Not only are the models basically donating their time, members are throwing out tokens, for a good cause.

Thanking is not enough. I love your attitude about the 'human spirit' and l love the last line. TY :)

I was thinking of doing something like this for the end of each month, but I wondered if there's a way I can prove to them I'm actually giving to charity. I tend to be a fairly "honest" model, and generally they seem to trust me. I simply don't want to do the fund, and have everyone constantly wondering if it's real, or I'm keeping the proceeds.

You can upload your tax receipt. All money you donate to a charity will be a tax write off, so they'll give you a tax receipt- make a copy of your receipt and black out your personal info, leave the rest. As long as members are able to see the Logo/letterhead of the charity and the dollar amount they'll know you aren't a scammer overall, I think. (Granted this could be forged, but come on, lol, that's a lot of effort). This is the end of the pay period so my tax receipt for the Hurricane Sandy donation will be up next week if you wanna take a look as an example :)

Thank you so much! I hope to be doing this starting Next year! Normally with my tokens I'm breaking even, and I'm trying a "getting a laptop" goal this December to test it out. I told them that if I get a laptop I'm going to start the charity shows. :-D

I do mine live on cam, or will at the very least include a screenshot. If my name is showing in the reciept I simply black it out in paint or photoshop.

That's actually a great idea having witnesses. I hope I can do it next year, but thinking about it, I may have to wait until after tax time. Unfortunately, I'm still a poor cam girl.
