This is actually a common scam. The other one is to purchase the items - get the Skype show that night - and then cancel the order.

I guess it is best to make sure it has shipped first or even received in that matter.
Honestly the 'best' is to just accept gift cards. That way you can redeem the code before you do a show. Once it's redeemed they can't cancel it. So that's the only way to be sure right away without having to wait for a few days to get a package.

There was actually also an incident recently where a model redeemed the gift card and then the person cancelled it after the fact and I don't think Amazon could do anything for her. It seemed like some sort of strange mistake because another model went to Amazon and asked them if that was possible and they said that it wasn't. It also says in their FAQ that once they've been redeemed they can't be cancelled however that doesn't seem to be the case reliably. It seems it happened to another model who posted on StripperWeb though so it might be something we need to expect from now on. Amazon's response was that if you actually place an order for an item right away, that they can't cancel it, so it seems if you're accepting Amazon Gift Cards, that's the only way to be sure.

I would say the BEST choice is to accept tokens or perhaps Giftrocket.

Here is the link to the thread about it, but it's in Models Only.

I don't often even bother with wishlists. And, if I do, I only buy things I know she'll use. To date, I have bought 3 things off of 3 different wishlists, the most expensive being $30.

I'm considering buying a few things for one model I know, who just moved into her first new home. But they're things like bedsheets and such. Practical things, that aren't overly expensive.

It's funny, because I was talking to her after I bought her some bath products from her list, and was mentioning how some people, not even just models, have the most inane and super expensive shit on their wishlists. Like new $2k+ laptops... and her response was 'like anyone is going to by me a laptop.' And, to be fair, if I'm spending $2k+ on a new computer, you can be goddamn sure it is for ME and not someone else... I don't even spend that much on myself in a single purchase more than once every few years (normally to upgrade my computer to a newer model).

It's not even just cam models who have these outrageous things on their lists. One girl, who does a lot on Twitch (so not even what we would consider cam modeling in the sense as seen here), has some really expensive shit on her wishlist, and I just laugh. Laptops, super expensive designer dresses, the PS4 and Xbox One (that someone supposedly bought her, though it wasn't a day one edition, so that could still be cancelled before it ships in December)... and she actually expects people to buy these things for her. I find it funny as hell.

It's even gotten to the point of 'girls' on Twitter sending out wishlists to their followers or even random people with expensive products on there and expecting people to buy them for the 'girls'. I put that in quotes, because it's not always a sure thing they're even who they say they are.

The things people put on their wishlists can get pretty stupid. Hence why I don't even bother to have one for myself. If I want it, I'll save up and buy it.

I have a laptop on my wishlist. Why? Because I need a new laptop. Do I expect to be bought the laptop - no - in fact I dont expect to be bought anything off my wishlist. I like to keep it up to date with things I want and like, because I think it is a good place for guys to go browse to get a feeling of who I am and what I like. So I have things that I am hoping to purchase myself. Such as a new Harley Quinn statue or a Dr Who shirt or a lap top. After all it is called a "wishlist" not a "bitch you better buy me a $2000 present list" - And if guys want to throw me a $25 GC to go toward the computer - well, that is nice too.

I've purchased what you might refer to as "outrageous" gifts for MFC girls on multiple occasions. Giving an amazing prezzy can be a very rewarding experience in itself actually.

As the saying goes "You're worth as much as you can get".

Personally I don't see any harm in it, *wishlists* are for wishing....

I put things on my wishlist I am saving up for.. Because, it's pretty nice to have it just show up someday. Like, I found a laptop I loved and decided to save for it. I really didnt think anyone would buy it for me, but it was on my wishlist with "Convert me from the mac side?" It was a PC. After I met one of my regulars in Vegas, he bought it for me when he got home with a note saying "it was great to meet you."

I don't think I've ever put anything on my wishlist, hoping or knowing I will get it. I put them on thinking it would be really nice if this showed up one day. Or, I won't buy this for myself but it would be nice to have. Sometimes people surprise you with something you NEVER thought you would ever own, because it makes them feel better themselves to make someone else happy. You totally are forgetting that some men have "fuck you" money. Fuck you money that can buy whoever whatever they want, because they feel like it.

This. And like Korrie I am typing on a laptop bought for me off my wishlist. My phone..wishlist. My webcam..wishlist. My Xbox..wishlist. Along with several other small things I love. I think it's sweet to do. It's never expected, or thought of as much to me. It's a wish, a dream, a maybe. Or I put things there as motivation to myself to work my butt off to get it later.
Right now I have a camera I really want to get. It's on a personal list of mine. $300 is pretty steep but it's one that would make my life unbelievably so much easier. I can hook it up to my laptop and see myself recording like a webcam but it's 1080p HD capable. It's one Amber has actually. Am I expecting someone to buy it for me? No. But I can wish someone would send me the giftcards to do as much. I even have gone on and bought gifts for girls off their lists anonymously. It feels good to give, and receive.

OMG you're terrible.

I seem to recall an evening spent driving around to various stores looking for that cam to say thank you for being so awesomely awesome at moral support.
And the Xbox was part of your severance package for being the worst personal assistant in history!

Or maybe it was a consolation prize for losing to me in two separate dance-offs.

Or maybe for being a secret agent.

Or maybe for making sure we keep the bacon fridge fully stocked.

See what you've done? I was so outraged I had to actually make a post!!!

You did drive around for it. It was the best sale on the planet I recall.
I am an awesome personal assistant. You never gave me anything to do so I went home. I was totally there for hours on end :) I refuse to recognize dance offs that never happened haha. And it's Cattens job to make sure the bacon is stocked. Along with the energy drinks. If she needed help she can ask. She has the stocker apron and everything already. I'm still waiting for her to pick up the Barista outfit I hand made for her especially. She's slacking on my coffee as we speak.

So I feel a little bad because the guy did buy me three things off my wishlist but some how I set my settings on surprise me. When I clicked on the idem he bought it asked me if I wanted to know if someone got it for me. I hit yes and it told me he had. It has been several days since he did it. I am not sure what to do from here. He is a good tipper so maybe I should take a chance and do it. He bought the webcam I wanted. I hope it makes it because that would be sweet! I am still unsure about it though.

I put some really out there stuff on my wishlist but I really don't think it will ever happen. I like to be a little of a smart ass and that is my way of doing it. I make sure to list some really low price stuff too like Roses and Chocolate. I will put things on my wishlist but I really don't think it will happen but you know a little more about me when you see it. Right?? :)

Whenever I see mega huge expensive items on a model's wishlist, I can't help but wonder whether they'd feel a bit uneasy if a member actually bought them said super expensive item. Especially if it was a member they didn't know very well, or worse yet, a member they didn't particularly like.

My first thought upon being bought something like a new TV or a $2000 laptop by someone I'd only ever spoken to on the internet (once the initial euphoria had passed anyway) would be "why has this person bought me this incredibly expensive item?". I'd worry about how I'm going to repay them, and whether they're hoping for something in return that I can't offer them, or whether they're obsessed with me, or whether they've mistaken my being friendly with them for something it's not.

That said, if anyone does want to send me a new TV or $2000 laptop, these concerns are something I'm sure I'd get over in time

I would wait :) Just think about how crappy it would feel to have him lie about it and do a show for free! :crybaby: Plus there are ways of making items appear as if they were bought of your wish list when they definitely weren't. If you explain it super sweetly and say something like, "Oh I SO appreciate you being patient until your gifts arrive, you're the best!" you are making it sound like you KNOW he's that great of a guy and giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's a standup guy but maybe he's trying to get something for nothing, never can be too careful online.

My policy with my wishlist is buy lingerie, get a photoset of me wearing it. Buy toys, get a video of me using it. Anything else is a "just because" gift with nothing guaranteed in return. That way I ensure I'm not giving anything away for free. There are several steps along the way where someone can cancel a wishlist purchase, so it's best not to offer anything in exchange.

That's the biggest reason why I took my wishlist down after a couple days on MFC. I hate obligations, and the thought of feeling indebted to somebody for a surprise gift made me feel oogly. I know there's plenty of guys who send "just because" gifts, but they're pretty hard to distinguish at first from the "now you owe me" guys.

Well yeah, we do get scammed, but if I had a token for every time members try to pull shit on models, in just one day, I'd be one rich perv. The other way around, I'd be living on food stamps.

Sevrin's suggestion was made based on the fact that we're talking about scams members pull on models. If you wish to make a thread about scams models pull on members, go ahead. But please also include the best way to protect yourself (spend small tips for flashes before going all-out, slowly increasing the amount you're spending on the model for prepay stuff.) The other night I had a guy say that he's had many models taken his tokens in return for nothing, when all I wanted was 50 to flash my ass.

Yeah it would basically be a thread that would be for models, telling them about popular scams that occur on MFC and stuff related to MFC like - Wishlists, skype, paypal etc

it could also be used to make models aware of other stuff like -

Making sure not to use personal emails/usernames for anything you use to interact with mfc members with (skype, twitter etc)

Turning off geo-tagging on your phone if you decide to use instagram or a similar service (i think models often forget about this)

Not to use images from your personal social accounts on your profile or Cam social accounts (can be searched/traced back often)

Protecting your tweets if you decide to tweet and want to decide who follows you and sees your tweets.

Adding watermarks to images & videos and to your cam

Amazon wishlists show city and state, it really sucks that this cannot be hidden

Those are just things i can think off the top of my head right now, I'm sure there is other things that models and other members also know of.

We actually have threads for almost all of that in the models only section. Girls that fall victim to these scams and are already in MO probably just didn't read them. :thumbleft:

Kinda related to this, its gotta be pretty weird for the boyfriends/husbands when it comes to wishlists. I imagine the dude coming home and realizing something new around the house like "whoa where'd the new tv come from?" "Oh stroking4you420 bought it for me." Would be awkward af.
