Is Instagram cracking down harder on cam models these days? I’ve seen a few different models voice concerns recently. One says she got banned at least twice. One was having her stories removed by IG with a warning about nudity, but in the photos she posted, she was wearing a normal skirt and showing very little skin.

They also just announced new terms of service that begin in late December. Among the terms are pretty explicit anti-sex work verbiage, a rule that anyone who has previously been banned is forbidden from having an IG account, and a virtual-zero tolerance on nudity (which is not a new policy, although you could get away with it in DM for some reason... wonder if that will go away now, too).

I know Instagram has always been pretty restrictive, but a large number of cam models have still been able to use it to share non-nude photos/video, connect with fans and announce their broadcasts in stories. And given the number of people that use IG, that platform would be a hard thing to lose for those models, I would imagine.

To the models here that use IG, does it seem like they’re gearing up to make your lives more difficult? Or is it the same old hassle?

And to members - has the merging of Instagram and Facebook messaging caused any issues for you (thinking privacy here, or unwanted discovery of non-burner accounts via search or “suggestions” from the algorithm)?

I pretty much treat any app on my phone, computer, etc. as being one where they're always trying to gather more data than I want them to. Especially FB, IG, WhatsApp since they're owned by FB. Refuse to use their VPN service.

Doesn't matter if it's my contact list, websites I've visited, banks, etc. I do my best to segregate as much as possible. I do have IG and WhatsApp on my phone. But, I only follow one former cam model who's now on OF. But, she still shows more skin than I recall IG ever allowing (topless, arm wrapped around breasts to cover everything for example). But, I will probably drop her since I don't follow her anywhere else and not that important to keep following. I also tend to keep IG as G rated as I possibly can as I have close friends, business associates and the like on there. I think I've followed all of three models on IG: the one I mentioned, and two who are related to sports.

I only use instagram to follow a few cam models. It's useless to me for advertising because of the TOS. You see girls in bikinis all the time but I've heard of guys getting banned for being shirtless or in their underwear. Not sure if it's true but I'll stick to twitter.

Instagram has always been strict about sexworkers on its platform. even if they dont link their accounts and only post tasteful erotic images. im not surprised they released a TOS that gives them the right to purge the whores.

my advice is not to use platforms that have made it clear they do not want you. don't waste your time building up an audience on those platforms, because you may lose it.

I have foot fetish page in Instagram, they have blocked few of my pages already, and the biggest loss was page with 75 k followers. I tried to be extremely careful but they continue blocking me, it is so frustrating. Now I have almost no motivation for creativity on Instagram.

I have yet to read Instagram's new ToS that's coming out in Dec. Anyone have a summary of the changes?
Yeah, Intsgram is cracking down on us hoes. You say "don;t use platfrom where you're unwelcome", but where are we welcome?

Yep. Of all the social media accounts, Twitter is the one that I'd actually be lost without. Adjust settings so your media is listed as "sensitive", don't threaten peoples' lives or directly harass anyone, should be just fine on Twitter.

Reddit is safe, too, depending on what subs you post in. If you use private image posts on imgur.com to post to Reddit you're good.

I post on Instagram knowing it could disappear at any moment, even though I finally got close to 12k followers and it's finally starting to bring some traffic to OF for me. I've gotten 3 warnings on there (the last one telling me it was my final chance) for what I assume were 1. linking onlyfans on a post, even though they allow it/leave it active in my bio 2. using "stickers" to cover up my nips/vagine area on photos. I see some established cam models get away with SO MUCH on there and thrive, but some of us get reported super easily I guess.

I already got banned once on Tiktok and snuck back on with a new account and know it will probably be yoinked any moment. They already have deleted my bio a couple times just because it mentioned onlyfans.

@AmberCutie This is a lot but I’ll bold the parts that seem relevant ... cut and pasted from the new IG terms and the other documentation it refers to:

Who Can Use Instagram. We want our Service to be as open and inclusive as possible, but we also want it to be safe, secure, and in accordance with the law. So, we need you to commit to a few restrictions in order to be part of the Instagram community.
  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You must not be prohibited from receiving any aspect of our Service under applicable laws or engaging in payments related Services if you are on an applicable denied party listing.
  • We must not have previously disabled your account for violation of law or any of our policies.
  • You must not be a convicted sex offender.

You can't violate (or help or encourage others to violate) these Terms or our policies, including in particular the Instagram Community Guidelines, Facebook Platform Terms and Developer Policies, and Music Guidelines.

(And this is from the Instagram Community Guidelines link...)

Post photos and videos that are appropriate for a diverse audience.

We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.

    Follow the law.

Instagram is not a place to support or praise terrorism, organized crime, or hate groups. Offering sexual services, buying or selling firearms, alcohol, and tobacco products between private individuals, and buying or selling illegal or prescription drugs (even if legal in your region) are also not allowed.

(and the “sexual services”link takes you to a Facebook Community Standards page containing this:)

    Do not post:
Attempting to coordinate adult commercial sexual services or prostitution activities, such as requesting or offering or asking for rates for escort services and paid sexual fetish or domination services.
Attempted coordination of or recruitment for adult sexual activities, including but not limited to:

    • Filmed sexual activities

Pornographic activities, strip club shows, live sex performances, erotic dances

      Sexual, erotic, or tantric massages

Explicit sexual solicitation by, including but not limited to the following, offering or asking for:

    • Sex or sexual partners

      Sex chat or conversations

      Nude photos/videos/imagery

They have already deleted my account several times, even if I didn't mention my job / sexwork. It just needs 1 rejected asshole who reports you and your account is gone.I had no advantages from instagram anyway, i just had annoying guys who sent me their dick pics or freeloaders. Honestly, fuck instagram. If IG thinks that it is okay to discriminate certain jobs , but guys can send you any dick pic or insult they want without facing any consequences, i don’t give a shit about this platform.

I think we really don’t need Social Media platforms who threat us like shit. We deal with that enough every day.

That’s a great point. Even if you’re careful what you post, your followers will obviously know you from camming... and if one of them decides to be a dick, IG’s policy makes it easy for them to report you.

What I think is sketchy is the models whose posts get deleted without any nudity (like the skirt example I mentioned in the first post). That’s not against their terms at all. It’s as if they figured out she’s a model and are now forbidding her from looking attractive on IG at all, even with normal clothes on.

if they want to play the morality card, I’d think a 20-something professional model in a skirt is less problematic than some of the photos teenagers post on IG.

Thank you so much for taking the time to lay it all out, I super appreciate it.

So I guess to be safe I'll change my bio link from OF to my linktr.ee which points to my onlyfans (which is what I do on tiktok now). But all in all, if I lose the account I'll just make a new one and not lose much sleep over it.

OMG I got 2 image posts (I edited without the "sexy" in it after the first try) removed within 10 minutes and another warning my account might be deleted for posting today:

Ok reposted a 3rd time with this one and it seems to be staying... they were interpreting the photos above as nudity even though I'm fully covered.

I don't understand how they ban known sex workers, but are okay with what these IG models show online which is often more graphic in my opinion. The pic below is of a IG model that I follow, but I often wonder how she's able to stay on IG without getting her account banned? 🤔

They are threatening to ban you over that... OMG I have seen IG "models" stuff that is waaaaaaaayyyyyy more graphic than that. I posted an example my previous comment @AmberCutie . I was thinking about promoting on IG, but not if that's how they treat us.

I follow a few girls that show wayyyy more than I ever have, but seem to have zero problems. Wearing a skimpy sports bra and thong doing full spread legged pole dances... but they're thriving.

Ultimately I think what I might have gotten flagged so often for is the word onlyfans or seeming to be advertising for something adult.

But when it comes down to it, THAT IS THE ABSOLUTE ONLY REASON I AM ON INSTAGRAM so if I am not able to mention it at all, just delete me now, bitches. You're useless.

I used to follow one model who was/is a fashion model. But, due to covid she has no work and turned to OnlyFans. She's commented about OnlyFans a few times on her IG feed. But, no idea if she's been hit with any warnings yet.

Her OF feed shows no nudity. At most a topless pic with her arm covering her breasts. She does do PPV, which supposedly has some topless but I've never purchased them.

Makes me wonder if they're just doing a blanket "OnlyFans" ban? Whether it's due to adult material, or just a competing service and they're doing it as adult, who knows...

Yeah. Makes no sense.
It’s the same with celebreties, they can post almost anything they want , without getting deleted.

What IG does is discrimination at its finest. Be a pervert and send girls pics of youre dick and your‘e fine BUT DONT BE A SEXWORKER! or you get deleted. It’s just stupid 🤣

Let me tell you how I got yelled at by another person on Instagram for saying twitter!

This person went full doomsday on me about how Twitter is also anti-boss, and is trying to figure out a way to make Mastodon work. Don't get me wrong, Mastodon is awesome! But if you're going to complain about how Twitter has a lack of reach in comparison to instagram, why would you try to push mastodon?

This person claims that they've seen trans sex workers get banned. in my experience, I've seen people get banned for posting uncensored sexual videos and pictures. I've seen people get away with a lot on twitter! But Twitter is huge being much older than Instagram, and most of it is a matter of reporting people.

Mastodon is technically huge, and you can get away with a a lot on mastodon, but it's only technically huge and not actually huge. You still wouldn't get much reach. But you would definitely be in one of the internet safe spaces.

but my question is what are we going to do about fosta and sesta? Is anybody working on that? it would really benefit us more to get to the root of this problem, rather than trying to figure out which platforms we can bounce around on until we're completely wiped off the internet. surely, there's enough data by now to prove that those laws have hurt sex workers more than they've protected children. Especially after this most recent presidential election where we had a smorgasbord of child trafficking child abduction, and people getting busted and killing themselves over the shit. it would also help us to point out that the loopholes for people to get mail order brides will never be closed because those are the same loopholes that come companies use for illegal immigrants for cheap labor. throw in how the Trump administration, or Trump himself, said that the children that went missing don't matter because the parents don't even want them, anyway - to be extra spicy!

Let's get to the root of this damn problem!

the only way this happens is not properly listing yourself as explicit content.

I don’t even think it’s the onlyfans word.
I saw girls posting pics of other girls in outfits that hardly cover nipples and butt and they were okay. When others post picture just with cleavage and posts being deleted. I mention onlyfans on my insta but only on super covered posts or photos and I delete them myself within 24 hours just in case

What the heckers is mastadon lol. (and therein is the problem.)

I received their new TOS, and I gotta share some insight about IG (that eventually belongs to Facebook).
As someone who makes a living from paid and organic campaigns on Facebook, there's a pivotal point that I remind almost all of my clients from time to time. It doesn't matter if you have a private profile, a brand's business page etc, you do not own that media, Facebook does. I've seen vanilla pages get locked down and shut, and without the ability to reach support for months, and I'm talking about accounts that spent hundreds of thousands of Dollars on monthly campaigns.
Their policy is biased and immersed in a double standard, however, we should ask ourselves how much of our business is dependent on a marketing funnel that involves Instagram, and then I would ask myself how to distribute the eggs into more than one basket.
What would be approved on an organic post, like a Kardashian butt, would never be approved as a promoted post. At the end of the day, Instagram does not make their prime income from celebrities, they make it from paid ads, and our community is blocked from paid ads to begin with, so we literally get no say, or leverage.

To contrast, I have gotten away with this pic for weeks now. There is zero consistency. Granted I have like 5 followers, but I don't even think follower count has anything to do with it. I don't promote myself as a cam girl or anyone having an OF though. I think that might be a big factor. I post as if I am just an IG model.
