I bought my juicer. I know know why the blender was silly =p I think I am going to save the blender stuff for berries and bannanas together.

You know how the juicer separates the juice and the other stuff? I took all the stuff that the juicer didn't juice and re-juiced it. Does anyone else do this? It gave me alot more juice! I am still getting used to everything...its been interesting to say the least! XD Not eating when I am stressed or bored has been the hardest.

How many cups of juice a day do you drink? I heard 16 cups is best...is this true?

This one was pretty bad-ass too...

2 apples
Half a lemon
A half inch chunk of ginger
A shit load of ice

:-D
:) And it resembles a well-made Long Island Iced tea. lol win win.

I'm really interested in this. Especially since I am SO bad about eating veggies in general. I've lost 15 lbs already in the last 2 months but I want to basically optimize what I can do for my body.

Keep up the great work though, everyone! This is a great read and it's definitely not lacking in motivation.

For all you new juice folks..
Citrus: I find the orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit oils in the skin are usually responsible for a lot of the bitter taste. If I peel [or at least zest] the outer skin first, then drop the whole thing in, its a lot more palatable.

As far as using a blender for juicing.. I looked at and fell in love with the big "Ninja Blender" last week. So much different than the usual or even "bar blenders" we're used to. Its about $65 off retail if you have a Sams Club or Costco type store available. With the tall stack of blades, it does liquefy almost everything.

My plan is to use both appliances. While I'm not fasting or going 'hardcore' like the rest of you, I am going to increase "the intake of fresh". I'm adding bulk to the juice [for fullness] by consuming the natural fibers the veggies give us instead of slinging them into the bucket of the juicer. Many things I will simply peel, like citrus, pineapple, banana etc., blend up with apples, kale or spinach, and then add more juice to that from other juiced things via the juicer that may have less palatable fibers. IDK, we shall see which ends up being used more. While newly fresh is less oxidized, I use the juicer once a day and refrigerate a quart or more for throughout the day use.

Initially, the Ninja is faster than shit to make smoothies from almost anything I have tossed at it so far. I also sometimes add protein powder to the first morning brew. Mmmm BB's, ... cant wait for the first cheap crop of melons to come in. Anyone care to join me for an icy watermelon/banana/mango smoothie under the magnolia tree on a sultry summer afternoon ? :-D

I have an admission to make, in the idea of being faithful to the thread will help me do the hard stuff. Last night my room mate returned after shopping at Costco with a large box of crap for me to carry in. right off the bat she started telling me how she had got something for me that I better appreciate. Box inside, right on top were three new dog toys. Letting the dogs work out which went to who, and tossing them from room to room for a while, she mentioned a few more times how I better appreciate what she got for me. Told it was at the bottom of the box, I started to pull things out. A 4 pack of garden gloves - no, a mega pack of sponge scrubbers - no, A two pack of hand lotion? Was this it, I asked? We can share it, I was told, but no not it. There it was a mega pack of 2xA's batteries. Oh, way cool, I exclaimed! (I was out and had to get some from her just the day before for my camera.) No under that I was told. There it was, a large Flan pie. I am a big fan of good flan. There must have been some telling tone that didn't ring true in my thank you. What you don't appreciate it, she asked? No its not that, it's just that I am on this diet, I replied. She questioned, you started that already, well what are you suppose to eat? Until my juicer shows up, I'm only suppose to have liquids and fresh fruit and vegetables,,, and Flan, I said with a grin.

I had one slice last night, cutting a larger one for my Room mate. Again just after noon I cut her a slice to have on her way out to work, and I eat a small slice. That left about half a pie, that I cut a small slice from, wrapped and put in the fridge. What was left i carried next door and gave to the neighbor, explaining the reason, for obvious reasons. It was accepted with gratitude, as both her and her BF like Flan.

I am just off the phone with the buddy who was to have the scale here yesterday and he says in just an hour or two he will drop it by, having forgotten yesterday. I will report my weight ASAP, and that will make it official. Aside from the flan, I have stayed to it, and think I will soon need to blend some of the frozen Strawberries from T,Joe's that were fresh but more than I could use before they went to mold. I will blend in a little banana, and some fresh pineapple. I have also had a handful of raisins, guess that isn't fresh produce?

Also, it crossed my mind, that corn was never mentioned as an ingredient in juicing? Would it have to be cooked to juice and therefore not be fresh, lacking so much goodness? Is it possible that uncooked corn is less digestible than cooked??? Wow frightening thought.

@Camstory, thanks for sharing. It actually makes me feel a little better because Master brought home sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles and well...I caved. I ended up eating two of them. :?

Is anyone else finding themselves with a psychological need for hot food? I guess it's a bit of a comfort thing but I've just been really wanting hot food. So, early today I juiced three tomatoes, 2 gloves of garlic, a small bunch of basil and some fresh oregano. I popped it into the microwave for about a minute and had some hot fresh made tomato soup. I know it's not as good for you when it's been cooked but damn it was good to have a warm tummy.

Outside of the one small meal I'm allowing myself each day, I cheated a little :? Yesterday and today, I had a handful of crisps as a late night snack, and today I had a chocolate biscuit for dessert.
But I don't feel too guilty about it - I'm still ingesting like 98% less crap than I was 4 days ago, and almost 100% more fruit and veg.

Well my buddy just brought the scale, and it would appear that the one here was accurate except that it would not settle on a #, bouncing from 240-245. The one delivered says 245, so 245 it is.

Had a mega fruit blended drink and almost had to work to finish it. Here's a pic I took after drinking some. Not as much as it might look I added a tray on ice to bulk it up a little.

Last night wasn't much fun. Didn't get to sleep 'til about 6am and had weird headaches/mild delirium most of the night. Don't know if that was juice related or not :?
But seeing as I didn't have anything to do today I had an extended lie-in (2:45pm bb!) and now don't feel so bad. I'm out of apples and cucumbers and running low on pineapple so I need to drag my ass to the shop before I can make breakfast though :(

Thats so strange. For me...all I wanted to do was sleep! However, I think it was because of how I felt in my head...nothing was physically wrong with me.

I think this has been a bit of my problem as well. I'm on day four now and for the past several nights I could not sleep at all. Even with all the pain killers in my system that should have had me out and just my general exhaustion I was awake staring at the ceiling most of the night. I'm also noticing as part of the detox I seem to be going through night sweats where I wake up soaked in sweat and burning up.

But! Light at the end of the tunnel, today I have lots of energy. :-D Even after taking a couple oxycodone for my back I still managed to clean the entire downstairs. I also think the extra nutrients are helping my back heal a lot faster. I'm still in pain but I'm able to move around a lot more after just three days then I would have if I'd hurt my back and just been eating junk food.

:-D ok... corn juicing ? Whos gonna be first here to try out making fruity corn liquor moon shine?

 That's what I was thinking. Corn does have some vitamins and minerals but considering the likely flavor of it's raw juice, I think I'd look elsewhere for juicing candidates. lol Biggest output of corn: calories. :)

Ditto! I was dripping sweat everywhere and getting crazy hot flashes too. That's normal for detox, you sweat out a lot of the toxins.

I never realised how expensive fruit was before now. I'm going through apples like they're water (and ingesting them like they were water too :?). I might look into buying in bulk at he beginning of each month or something. Gotta be cheaper than going to the shops every other day to re-stock. And I've not even started to truly fast yet :)

I am looking for a solution to cost as well! My 4 children like to share with me and it makes me so happy to be able to get them to ingest all of those wonderful things (unknowingly). Of course I want them too but sometimes I am like NOOOOOO too expensive. How horrible is that?

My favorite right now is a recipe I got from my NutriBullet (best juicer ever...well the only one I have ever had LOL). It took me a while to get the goji-berries because I procrastinated but I listed the link where I found them and other awesome ingredients online.
http://www.sunfood.com/food/goji-berries.html

1handful of kale
1pitted peach
1banana
1handful of strawberries
1/8 cup flax seed
1/8 cup goji berries
water

I am not very original due to lack of time so I love to see others ideas!

If you find a solution, let me know what it is :-D Another trip to the shops just now cost me another £12/$20 :?
I did pick up some low fat snacks to keep me going in hours of need though. Got some cashew nuts, rice crackers and... seafood shells? seaweed shells? something like that anyway.

Has anyone done this? yesterday morning while buttering two English muffins for my room mate I cut off the edge of one that had got over toasted. It was not until after I poped it into my mouth that I thought about what I was doing. (the pup got a buttery treat) Then this morning I was asked to retrieve a fudge bar from the outside freezer. grabbing two, and handing one off, I started to rip the second one open. Then told my room mate there would be one in the kitchen freezer. I have went to the fridge at least 4or5 times. My mind is still set on auto eat i guess. :)

Nothing like that yet but I'm still on one (solid) meal a day. When I eventually fast, I probably will... :?

:-o :icon-eek: :scared-eek: WoW !!! Thats waaay beyond my budget for daily drinking or a fresh berry snack.... For the price of a single Lb., I can literally buy a case of other things.
I think for this recipe, I'll maybe up the strawberry or even add a few cherries. :-D
Damnit ! Now I want a smoothie

I've noticed that my sticky fingers have been extra delish since I started juicing! It must be my morning Yummy fruits!
