Yes, due to the nature of being "untrackable" it will attract the unsavory types. This does not mean it is "paedophile currency" - and certainly using it does NOT make you either a criminal or someone supporting paedophiles or anything else.

Yeah this is getting ridiculous. I can definitely see that Bitcoins have their issues but everyone who uses them isn't supporting pedophiles. That's like saying that I support human trafficking if I work on a cam site where trafficked studio girls also cam. None of us cam girls are planning to use Bitcoins anytime soon so this has become sort of a pointless argument for this forum, anyway. Hi girls, just got wind of this from Bitcoin's forum.

I frankly don't know what do you have to lose by offering the option. Lots of people (like me) simply won't use their credit cards to pay a cam girl, for several reasons generally related to trust and privacy. Especially those of us not living in the US.

I understand it can be a bit daunting, but I recommend you use Armory (local client) and/or Intersango (currency exchange and banking service) and you shall be perfectly safe. If you're feeling paranoid, simply don't keep a big balance in bitcoin. It simply cannot be risky as merely a receiving means, as long as you take a minute to cash out regularly.

If you have any questions I'm willing to help.

PS: I'm a normal, non-criminal bitcoin user.

At this point I'm willing to try bitcoins becasue on cam4coins I can set my own rules. No one requires anything of me, there's no audio requirement so I can do cam4coins when my landlady is home and not have to worry about her knocking on my door wondering whats going on. I post to the bitcoins subreddits becasue its fun and people see my tata's in free chat as it is, so why not.

I'm definitely not saying its for every camgirl at this stage but for me it's advantageous to hop on the band wagon and ride it out. If it fizzles oh well, I cash out my bitcoins regularly, if it takes off I'll be known in that comunity and have a steady fan base. For me its a win win.

The Bitcoin protocol is unhackable (Tech answer: well very very very hard to hack, if you can manage to hack the Bitcoin system you are able to reverse a very hard hashing function and can make much much more money than there is in the Bitcoin economy altogether. You probably have to invent a quantum computer to do it).

The article you linked to is about a website (Bitcoinica) that was hacked ()for the second time already, last time they lost 4 times as much) because of their poor security. Websites can be hacked and if you store your Bitcoins on that server they can be stolen, sure. The system itself? Extremely, extremely difficult. There aren't many things in the world with worse odds of happening.

That is a website not bitcoin. This is the misconception for every site that deals with bitcoin people think its bitcoin that is getting hacked it isn't.
Bitcoin itself is theoretically unhackable if you can hack bitcoins you can hack into any system in the world so you wouldn't even bother with bitcoin to begin with.

Mmm no worries ^_^ I do understand where your coming from, I guess I'm just brave enough to help try and get bitcoins away from the shadowiness. Every person who uses bitcoins for legitimate things (not drugs or guns) brings it that much closer to being a legitimate income source... wow I sound all young and naive don't I.
