For example, I just bought Infamous: Second Son and while it was GREAT, I beat it over the weekend with just two half days of playing and it feels a bit shitty that it's already over.
Yeah, Second Son was really short for an Infamous game.
And it doesn't even have the user-generated content that Infamous II had. It really could have used that to fill it out some. Still a great game, though. And certainly the prettiest graphics I've seen yet on PS4. I'm really looking forward to First Light, which will be out in a few weeks.
Destiny is kind of like an MMO, or at least has many elements of one, and so I feel like they's going to be potential for lots of continued playability.
From what I've read on some of the gaming news sites, it's expected that Destiny will probably not be particularly huge (12-18 hour completion time), but they're probably going to have a lot of DLC to get new areas, higher level cap, etc. (level cap is 20 in the base game)
It's a common problem at the start of a console generation. So much money has to be spent on the basic architecture (developing game engines, bringing everyone up to speed learning a new system, etc.) that the games tend to be shorter at first. But at least with Destiny there will be a ton of DLC, as they're really heavily invested in this game.
I played the alpha and found it more fun than I expected. I didn't get a chance to play the beta, though, due to the way the timing worked out. I don't plan to buy it on release, but maybe I'll pick it up in a year when they have a "game of the year" edition with a bunch of DLC packed in.
