Been playing the Destiny beta over the weekend.

Kinda fun. Having Tyrion Lannister's voice guiding you through the game is a big plus.

It's not a game I would probably buy, but my roommate loves it so I imagine I'll have a character when it comes out.

I played the Alpha and have been playing the Beta as well and have absolutely adored it! There's a quality about it that is somewhat hard to put into words, but it is just so fucking FUN. I've been talking about this game a lot lately and I can't wait for the full version to finally come out in September!

It is like playing a combination of Halo 4 and Mass Effect 3. Combat is very similar to H.4, just with weapons & vehicles changed a little. The RPG system & mission navigation is just like M.E.. You get a space view of planets & choose missions on them then see spaceship animations while you wait for them to load. Not very original but I did like playing it. Won't buy it until it has been out a while and drops in price.

I've been so excited for this game, so playing Beta just recharged my desire. I love when a game has nice graphics, and destiny has nice graphics. Everything is so sharp and crisp and detailed. Im too excited for this game to be released solely because I want to see how the rest of the universe looks.

So far though I don't like navigation of the game, and I agree that it is very much like M.E. which I also didn't enjoy. I feel like its such a waste to go to the overview of planets or "orbit", pick a planet, then select launch, then wait while watching ship animations. LIke ffs, just take me to earth already!. But just like M.E. I will still play Destiny & love it.

I enjoyed the beta... On the first day... til me and a friend hit the level cap of 8, and had finished all the beta content. But, I mean, yeah, beta, etc, etc. But ALL those Level 20 weapons to buy taunting us.

Pre-ordered this for a friend of mine and we played through the beta some. He is ridiculously good at picking out voice actors so he taunted me with Peter Dinklage for like the first half hour until it clicked in my head. (I kicked my own ass so bad for it taking that long to click) I'm so bad with voices sometimes lol. I think I just get caught up in the storyline and gameplay that I don't focus on WHO is saying these things.

Game wise though is good, not something I would've bothered to drop cash on for myself this soon. Will probably pick it up for myself after launch later this year.

Yeah the disguised loading screens are annoying.

I would honestly rather just have a little bar telling me the game is loading.

Finally had time to sit down and play the Beta with Mr. Nerd just in time for the server to close... :crybaby:

That sucks! I've been playin' it since Thursday night, and I love this game! I leveled all three classes to 8, did some PvP on each, and replayed the last two Earth missions and instance on "hard". I got so many engrams that decoded to lvl 9 gear. Each time, I was like "Damnit! It's a blue gun. Give it to me!". I've resorted to polling on Facebook for friends that will get the game for Xbox One. I'm already sad and annoyed I have to wait a month. I want to crush the Darkness now!

I did a little bit of the PvP. It was fun, but I am really terrible compared to most players.

The best round I played out of 5 I had 2 kills lol.

Aiming with the thumbsticks is just not my thing :(

I had the Xbox One beta on the 17th, but wasn't allowed to stream or post anything about it until the 23rd, so I played a bunch on the PS3 until they opened up the beta for Xbox One users (since I could stream the PS3 version before that).

I ended up doing a LOT of farming. Looking for gear to be just that little bit better than what I had. I ended up buying 4 ships, a bike, found a bike in a chest, blue armor and blue weapons I couldn't use (level 9 and 10) and playing a bunch of PvP.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I was surprised the PS3 version didn't look horrible. I mean, it had PS3 textures, sure, but it still looked good for a PS3 game. I should go to Twitch and transfer my footage over to YouTube, I guess.

I watched both E3 presentations for Destiny and didn't figure out it was Peter Dinklage until the Alpha! Once you know though, you can't get him out of your head!

We realized Nathan Fillion is in it too! First day of the Beta the Hunter "trainer" said something and MrPond and I both like jumped and looked at each other then rushed to IMDB. I've recognized a few other voices, but they haven't released the full list on IMDB yet, I'm excited to see who else they got because it's already a shitton of badass celebrities!

OH! Another thing I've found that I've really enjoyed about the game is the AI on the bad guys. Like just watching them is kind of fun and they're really enjoyable to fight against. They move and react surprisingly realistically and cleverly to me which makes fighting them just a whole lot of fun.

These are just a few of the many things I adore already. I fucking love when a game I'm excited about lives up to my expectations. I know we're not at the full game yet, but I feel like what I've seen already has been enough to tell me that it's what I had hoped for and I can't wait for launch! :)

The beta for Destiny is over? it was only a few days? o_O I missed it! I went back to COD. Is it worth a buy for Destiny? seems to be the biggest Xbox one game besides Assassins Creed.

The Beta was 10 days long, I believe, July 17-27! But it was much shorter for Xbox because the PS4 is getting lots of extra perks for this game. I actually think they started the Xbox part of the Beta a little early, so there was some extra time (could be wrong about that).

It might be hard to say because we've only played the Alpha and Beta thus far but this game definitely seemed worth a buy to me. I feel like it's going to be expanded on quite a lot so it feels extra worth the purchase. For example, I just bought Infamous: Second Son and while it was GREAT, I beat it over the weekend with just two half days of playing and it feels a bit shitty that it's already over. Destiny is kind of like an MMO, or at least has many elements of one, and so I feel like they's going to be potential for lots of continued playability.

Yeah, Second Son was really short for an Infamous game. :( And it doesn't even have the user-generated content that Infamous II had. It really could have used that to fill it out some. Still a great game, though. And certainly the prettiest graphics I've seen yet on PS4. I'm really looking forward to First Light, which will be out in a few weeks.

From what I've read on some of the gaming news sites, it's expected that Destiny will probably not be particularly huge (12-18 hour completion time), but they're probably going to have a lot of DLC to get new areas, higher level cap, etc. (level cap is 20 in the base game)

It's a common problem at the start of a console generation. So much money has to be spent on the basic architecture (developing game engines, bringing everyone up to speed learning a new system, etc.) that the games tend to be shorter at first. But at least with Destiny there will be a ton of DLC, as they're really heavily invested in this game.

I played the alpha and found it more fun than I expected. I didn't get a chance to play the beta, though, due to the way the timing worked out. I don't plan to buy it on release, but maybe I'll pick it up in a year when they have a "game of the year" edition with a bunch of DLC packed in.

I had sooooooo much fun playing missions over again in the Beta. I feel like this will happen in the full game too along with the amount of end-game content to play though. I'm so excited for launch. I know this game will get played no matter what, even with the three other console games I'm getting and WildStar currently.

Sony paid for exclusive content and exclusive Alpha and Beta time. Just like Microsoft pays for exclusive time for CoD maps. It's never one console getting stuff 'just because'; there's always a monetary compensation for it.

They did. They started it about halfway through the day on the 22nd for those people not in the Friends and Family Beta I was in.

I will be losing my boyfriend and tv to it as well. I was at the midnight release for it even though I had to be up at 5:30 for my last day of work. That's true love. I've already accepted that I'll be making him nachos and leaving him alone for awhile.

Luckily we have a second console and tv so I can pick murdered back up.

Darn myself for banning a tv in the bedroom! It looks really interesting though, I'm watching him playing it and it reminds of a mix of halo and WoW.

Just a protip: Don't ever do a pre-order through BestBuy. What a nightmare that was. I've done pre-order pickups at Gamestop before and you walk in and walk out with the game 5 minutes later.

Last night it took us nearly an hour to get our copy of the game and there were only about 30 people in line.

I don't completely blame BestBuy as one guy decided to trade in every video game he has, and some other customers were really unprepared as well. But still, even the normal transactions were taking 5 minutes each.

Welp, got Destiny home, only to find out my PS4 controller does not work in games, anymore, other than the PS button. Which makes no god damned sense. But this explains why it also did not work in Metro Redux a few weeks ago. It works fine on the dashboard/store, so I figured it was just Metro being weird. So sad. :(

I spent 14 hours playing yesterday. Thankfully my bf plays video games as well otherwise our relationship would be over.

Yet another we thing we agree on. If a girl I'm with doesn't like games, she's gonna have a bit of a hard time. I didn't spend 14 hours playing though. Only a few hours.

I played that long because yesterday was the only day I have to myself/social life. Gotta get it in where it fits.

New controller fixed everything. Other than my wallet. Oh well, yay, Destiny! And, yeah, it's semi-Borderlands sans humor, I guess. But that's ok, Borderlands didn't always hit with the humor.
