Issued court papers in the UK against Electronic Arts. Should be a slam dunk win, as I collected evidence of them breaching two different UK laws.

One win is guaranteed (Data Protection), the other is for interpretation by a judge but the evidence that their product could be determined "Not fit for purpose" is very strong.

Wonder what the big international company is going to throw at me.

There's this one chick at work who is convinced that I need to pressure my partner into marrying me just because we've been together for six years and have been living together most of that. Yesterday, she was asking everyone what they thought, and when she thought they might not agree with her, was asking a different sort of question to twist them into agreement. It was kinda funny, seeing how the one guy got out of it (an older gentleman).

"Are you married?"
"I was married once. Never doing that again!"

I can't offer any encouraging words. Dentists have always scared the bejeebies out of me.

(yes. bejeebies is a highly technical medical term. Look it up)

Relieved I didn't just make a fool out of myself. Just done an interview on BBC Radio in the UK, on a show that went out nationally.

I unabashedly pronounce "gif" as "jif" because pronouncing it with the "guh" sound is TOTALLY STUPID!! Not much more to it than that. They just looooove giving me a hard time. If you have gif pronunciation preferences, feel free to stop by my room tomorrow evening to mock me!

You should mock them for being wrong then, because you are the one saying it right.

Steve Wilhite created the Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF, while working for Compuserve in 1987. On Tuesday, he received a Webby Award for it and delivered his five-word acceptance speech (that's all the Webbys allow) by flashing a GIF on the big screens at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

And, in a flash, it all became clear:

"It's pronounced JIF, not GIF."

Haha I know, we talk about this every time it comes up. They say the statute of limitations ran out on clarifying the pronunciation... 20 years after making it.

On religion.

Two basic thoughts about the conflicts that exist between different religions occurred to me in the shower this morning. One very simple, just little irritating jabs now days. In praise of ones own religion, most often it seems the lack of inclusion, or just acknowledgement of others religions, by default is as much about putting down other religions as it is about praising ours. One simple example would be the wide spread use of many christians to call the bible, the good book, or the use of the term, "the good news" (If i have the good news and yours is not the same, it must be bad news.)

The second thought is a bit more complex, but boiled down can be seen as a very simple and hot steam.

When I think back to my childhood, and the handful of times i lashed out at a friend with physical aggression, they were times when an argument became too frustrating to continue with words. They were times when the argument moved to thoughts i could no longer support with anything like fact. I suddenly was about to lose the fight of words because i had no more reasonable words to use. (But I was a big kid, so my frustration sometimes defaulted to the use of force.)

Religion, or the supporting reasonable arguments for it's existences, or ones belief in one or the other, starts at a place of having very few words for which there is anything like fact to support. Maybe why sometimes it seems like the more intelligent members are also the most radical or pron to violence to win their fight. They are not dumb enough to argue their side of the fight with the, "this is just the right thing, because i say it is" argument, and frustrated, and unable to make any reasonable supported fight with words, default to force.

No new insights there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ just my continued, and ever more increasing internal dislike for organized religions. (And in sharing maybe a little bit of a want to show some very intelligent ppl that it is time for them to pull their head out.)
