A little thread drift...

Their fans are fucking insanely excited to see them on a cam site and get attention from them. Example - SunnyLeone. She accepts tips to get on her friends list.

Along those lines...I've been a fan of Aria Giovanni since she came onto the adult scene years ago. While in her room one day, someone asked what it took to be on her friend's list. I almost choked when she said 500 tokens. Although I don't believe in paying to be on a friend's list, I can't really blame models that require it. PMs should be an earned privilege in my humble opinion since far too many people abuse the PM feature. I'd surmise that 95-98% of PMs can be addressed in open chat anyhow.

My PM list costs time and effort and requires the right personality instead of tokens.

I did think of that Amber, but I will use an example Jaceymarie when some guys got together to try and win her the monthly contest she got around 60k tokens in one night and only went up 2k score for that whole month, there is simply no way these Pornstars, which MFC is actively trying to recruit onto MFC (can you imagine them having to start at the normal camscore, a great selling point for their time invested) are getting enough tokens in 4 weeks to gain 17,000 camscore.

I'm in the process of - when I'm bored - idlyt hacking on a MFC chat client for my phone (Nokia n900).
To do this, I've been logging all interaction with MFC, and have some basic scripts to parse the data, to better understand the protocol.

A byproduct has been that it's easy to produce graphs:

camscore.gif

Candy has been _really_ pushing hard this month - and her camscore has shot up.

But to go back to the example of Jacey, on the last day of last month, her score went up by around 1k.

If - as others have said in this thread - camscore is merely tokens/time - then this would imply that - if the above 60k tokens is accurate - her total 'lifetime' token earnings would be about 720K tokens, to double her camscore she'd need to do another 720K in one day.

But if a newer model that's been on a month, for 30 hours total pops up and does the same 60k tokens in one day - their camscore will shoot _way_ up by lots more than 1k.

Camscore can't be quite this simple of course - as if it was - then a large tip in the first few mins of an account would shoot that model way to the top of the table.

Jacey has been on MFC for at least 10 months, give or take. Just like I had been when I went for Miss MFC in May. What you described is pretty accurate but doesn't disprove my theory about NEW model accounts being able to jump in cam score faster.

And no, the tokens/hour isn't the only factor in camscore, but it's gotta be a big part of it. Ratings on profiles and tips/privates are factored in somewhere. Ultimately we'll never know the algorithm but this whole conspiracy theory about the PornMFCmodels was just born out of rage and jealousy.

OK, first post, and probably should make it a positive one so I don't look like a pessimistic person... but BOO
I had a great idea, energy high, got a guest to make an account and spend money... and did that instead of packing to move...

and I got a lower cam score just because I was on for 4 hours (ish) and only made 110 :(

bummer. Because I had a pretty fun time painting on myself.

um, Hi, I'm Meadow, and I'm not as much of a griper as my first post is... I just wanted to verbally say it, as I am frustrated that my having a fun time lowered my score.

Not quite true is it though.

Is anyone aware of how camscores vary by several points depending in how you view them? For example, in the little pop up box where you preview a models name, tagline, sign up date, connection, etc, their camscore can be like 1252...but then on their full profile it can say something like 863.9. Odd to me, but then I'm new and perhaps there's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

It's probably to do with how often the profile page is updated. I think the pop up box camscore, and also the top 20 camscore, is updated once every 15 minutes.

Profiles are probably done once a day or something.

I actually had a guy last night spend over an hour trying to convince me how he knows the magic method of cam scores and for my personal phone # he would reveal it all to me. Didn't ignore him because it was fun calling his bluffs but still. If you ever see Horny4Lisa.. He tries convincing you how much you need his "info"..

Oh gawd... you gotta love the MFC members who act like they're best friends with the admins and know how everything works. How much more full of yourself can you be? /facepalm

HAHA! yes i do know him. He hangs out in a mutual model friend's room. The first time he PMed me I confused him by saying something simple-forget what, but then when I was logging off I told hm to have a good one and then had to explain what it meant 0.0 But sure, he may know the secret of the camscore lmao!

Do you think it's better for your cam score if you go on every day and some days don't make anything at all/hardly anything, or if you just go on a few times a week and make something each of those days?
Mines below 900 again and the last two times I've gone on I've made nothing. :( So it's making me not want to go on tomorrow!
My camscore is 895.9 ahhhhhhhhhhhh. :(

I'm confused coz I thought surely going on and making like 10 tokens would be better than having that day off and making nothing? Lol.
But I don't want to not go on for a week and find it's below 100!

If you're on and you make nothing your camscore will go down. So the latter option is "better" (For your camscore, at least)

I'm ignoring my camscore. It was in the 500's the last time I checked >.< Not much I can do about it, except keep logging in, have as much fun as possible and roll with it. Can't worry about the things I can't change.

I'll have to try doing that!
I think mine goes down everytime I look at my profile to see what it is, coz everytime I look it's gone down lol.

That's a great approach. I wish I could adopt it. Kinda hard to keep gyrating for an hour and have have NO ONE show a little appreciation though. :|

My camscore went up since I didn't log on yesterday.

Dunno how it works, not really caring either though.. I've done 10+ hour sessions and made nothing, and done 2-3 hour sessions and made a couple hundred.. mine seems to stay in the 13-1400ish range..

Hello!!! My first post :)

Today is my 5th day on MFC and I have a camscore of 1784.3
It was more earlier but I haven't been on as much today, I've been going on for about.... 6 hours a day, and I've made just over 9000 tokens. I've had 101 ratings and 79 admirers.

Does that correspond to the camscore superstitions? I don't know what a normal earning day is really for those who've been on there a while. I expect mine to be higher to begin with because I'm new? Maybe.

(Thankyou AngelicTease for pointing me to this site!)

Your cam score always starts at 1000, unless you're a porn star who's getting special treatment. From there, if you suck, your camscore will go down, and if you don't suck, it will go up. Since your camscore is going up, that means you're on the right track. Eventually it will plateau based on your level of camwhore skill, but that's completely up to you where it happens.

It's been discussed in this thread thoroughly already, but the biggest contributor to camscore is rate of token income. That means tokens per hour. The takeaway is, don't do stupid shit like sleep on cam, or sit there and just stare at the cam, unless you think people are really going to tip you for that. Come online, bust your ass, make some cash, and when you're burnt out, sign off.

Other things like tip ratings also affect your camscore, but that's definitely the most important.

I decided to do a quick study to see what the distribution of camscores is like. Tonight on a busy Thursday evening, there were 771 models online, not including models from the Asian homepage. Here's the percentage of models with certain camscores:

2.5% above 5000
4.4% above 4000
5.7% above 3000
12.1% above 2000
25.8% above 1000

Each range is cumulative, meaning each range includes the models in the range above it.

1000 is the camscore that brand new models get, and models with camscore of 1000 really don't make that much money. 75% of all non-asian models fall into this range.

Models, feel free to chime in, but I'd say you really need a camscore of about 2000 before you start making enough money to sustain yourself as a full-time camwhore. Only an 1/8 of all models make it that far. From there, you don't start making the big bucks until you work your way up the chain even further. Above 5000 is a pretty exclusive club. I didn't take statistics above that because the sample set gets too small and so the sampling error gets too high.

Even if you have camscore 2000, which is pretty respectable, you still have 100 models online with camscores better than yours, meaning they show up before you in the model listing with default settings.

It's a tough game being a cam whore. Don't think the money will come easy.

 ...do ratings and such update once daily the same as camscore? Because if not, I'm going to be a little crestfallen. Rating doesn't cost squat and I know I probably asked about a bajillion times for people to rate me if nothing else (and only one person rated their private/tip over 90 as well even though I asked them all). It was even the room topic for a bit.

Blah.

Rating tips DEFINITELY helps, but I think it's currently unknown whether or not profile ratings mean anything at all.

Gah. I had a superstar in my room for like 4 hours and he didn't rate a single one of his tips or his private. Boo. :(

Ah well. Better luck tomorrow.

Is it honestly a starting point of 1000?

Because my first day I could have sworn mine was about 850, and then it went DOWN after a shit day, and got up to about 700 or so after two days of busting ass.

I swear, cam-score is the devil. I don't suck. I put on a creative show, care about my boys and try to keep conversation fun and going. After a good day (for a newb like me) my cam-score stayed the same, and today I made less then my prior day... and I am on pins and needles afraid my score is gonna suck.
I feel like saying anyone with below a 1000 sucks is kinda unfair for us newbies that didn't shoot up the first week, as although I may not be the best at selling myself out, I don't SUCK.

I agree, think it's harsh saying anyone with a camscore below 1000 sucks. There's alot that factors into it eg. starting up when it's more quiet than usual.

I have a new model account, my first time I went on it my camscore went down to about 850, the next day it went up by about 600. I don't suck, I just happened to start on a shitty day which I'm sure is the case for a lot of other models.

So yeah some girls under 1000 DO suck, but you shouldn't generalize.

QueenMeadow, I know it's hard but try not too worry about it too much. I've never seen you on MFC but it sounds like you're doing a good job and keeping your room fun, keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure your score will pick up soon :)

I've always noticed when I stop obsessing over it it will go up. ;)

Ok maybe that's a bit harsh considering 75% of models have a cam score under 1000. It's just that once you start slipping below that, I think you're going to find it very hard to climb back up again. Call me out if I'm wrong, but this is sort of how I see the MFC world working.

You start out with a camscore of 1000, and you're tagged as a *NEW* model. There are lots of members who specifically seek out *NEW* models, because they get their jollies from breaking in new girls. Some guys love giving *NEW* models their first private shows within minutes of signing on.

The first impression is critical. Lots of *NEW* girls start every day, and most of them won't make it as models. You have to have something that separates you from the pack. You all know the basics: have a good cam, a good personality, and be somewhat attractive, and you're already better than most models out there.

If you have a good start, and the tokens roll in quickly, you'll notice your camscore shoot up quite fast. That's because camscore is heavily based on rate of token income, and since you haven't been online long, the rate is pretty high. If you get catapulted to 2000 or higher, you'll be in great shape for when the *NEW* wears off, and you'll have to rely on people stumbling upon you just by flipping the channels, which are of course ordered by camscore.

If you don't have a good start, your camscore goes down. Down past the camscores of brand new models. Fewer and fewer people are going to find your room. You might be busting your ass with some hot moves, but if only 13 people are there to see it, 11 of them basic and 2 of them broke premiums, what good is it going to do you?

Since camscore hugely influences your popularity, it's sort of this chicken and egg problem where having a high score will enable you to have a high score, and having a low score will keep you at a low score. That's why it's really important to have a good start, or else you have a long, very difficult road ahead of you.

That's why most models under camscore 1000 are in the noise... there are just *so* many models down there, that you're going to have a difficult time getting noticed and rising back out.

I hope this isn't too depressing. I watch plenty of models who have camscore under 1000. But just because I like them, doesn't mean I think they have a great chance of making it big.

P.S. smearing ranch dressing over your vagina and dipping lettuce in it before you eat it is a great way to attract attention

I'm really beginning to think that there is a lot of randomness involved in who gets a good camscore and who doesn't. There's what bawksy's been saying, and probably 80-90% of those who are below 1000 deserve to be there and the rest just don't belong there at all.

Then there's the cases of these two new models, both non-pornstars:

The first started on Tuesday and by Wednesday, was already around 2400. However, she hasn't moved since.

The second is on as I type this, I've never seen her on MFC before tonight, and her score is listed as 6040.4. I have no clue how that happened.

Please note that I can only report what I see. And if you want the model's names, send me a PM here and I will tell there. On principle, I refuse to name models for anything potentially negative publicly.
