:? What grown man doesn't have at least a debit card? You can't pay at the gas pump with paypal...
Sorry but I'm calling B.S.
If you don't want to tip for your entertainment, maybe you should find entertainment that isn't working for tips?
It's highly likely that it's BS, and most of us here are very familiar with the *paypal* excuse, and maybe he is a troll/freeloader/etc. but...
I don't want to make a big thing, but let me tell you from a member's viewpoint (or at least mine). I am extremely paranoid about using my CC/Debit card online. Theft/double charges/sketchy web transactions are rare, but they
do happen. They do happen even at a "brick & mortar" operation. Look at the Target and Neiman Marcus (et al) fiasco that happened over the 2013 holiday season. The difference for
me is if there is a problem, I can go to Target in person and yell/beat my fists on their counter. We all know how responsive MFC isn't when it comes to member support (I have no experience in emailing them about CC questions, maybe it's different for that).
My point is, on my 1st few visits to MFC, I sat on my wallet due to this paranoia. I did get over it, but I did it in a roundabout way. I have 2 bank accounts at 2 different banks, I keep a minimal account balance ($10 or less) in one of them. Before I make any online purchase, I'll do an online bank transfer from the main account to the secondary account. If I'm going to buy the $75 token package, I'll do a $80 transfer beforehand. I use the secondary account for all my online purchases: ebay, amazon, MFC, etc. Yeah, I'm probably being a little extreme, but don't knock me too hard. You girls want to protect you're name/location, I want to protect my money.
But this isn't the only reason members might be reluctant to use their debit card: married dudes, dudes afraid their bank will snicker at them (this is real for some dudes), and more. Yes, these can be just "another excuse" to freeload.
I have found that instead of arguing, I have more success by eliminating excuses and closing loopholes. Look at my and Jerry's responses and then look at yours. If he is a freeloader/troll, he will not have an answer for our response. However he may be tempted to insist he is not broke, a freeloader, or a troll. You certainly have the right to feel that way, and you have certainly "seen it all". In this particular case, Jerry and I may not have seen it all, but we have seen a lot!
Please give me 5 minutes to get my asbestos suit on before the flaming begins
