This is so great! Thank you! I did really well as a new model but hadn't been back on in years. It does take so much work to be on cam, to be on! I hear it is particularly difficult if you are partial nude model. In still figuring out what I'm comfortable with and what I want to do. I'm excited to get varified to get some ideas in small groups as well as other things besides taking your clothes off to get tips.

Today was my first day back on cam and my score is 1122, up a little after today. It felt slow but there were a couple of members who stayed around the entire time, and tipped. I can see how important the comScore is but also not to stress of it dips.

I found that being "out" about camming has really helped me choose my friends well. Sex work is important to me and you can tell right away whether or not someone has bigoted or archaic ideas about women.

^^ SO TRUE. I'm open about it, except with family because I figure there's no point in mucking through that conversation unless I absolutely have to. When I first started, I had a couple friends tell me I'm "better/smarter than that" to which I asked how the hell my intelligence and good nature have anything to do with my enjoyment and expression of my sexuality, but since I've become more confident and cut off a lot of those "concerns" straight from the gate, I've been much more positively received for my current chosen line of work.

So much great info, thank you all for your contributions. I've been camming for the better part of the year, and I definitely needed to hear a few things again, especially about consistency.

The advice I can offer newbies is this:
When your "new model" status runs out, your pay is going to take a hit for a hot minute. That's reality. DON'T GIVE UP! Push through that period with a little grace and it won't last long, you'll have good nights again. My first week or two were incredible on SM, and then I had a week of pocket change that discouraged me so deeply that I didn't work much for a long time after that. Now, I've had to try to build up all over again and missed out on a lot of great connections I had begun to foster when I first started. Expect the not-new drop and find ways to motivate yourself to keep going.

Thank you so much for this thread! It's seriously just so helpful to get perspective on things. I've only been camming for a few months, and of course I've had a lot of guys pressure me to get on skype, and I'm just so relieved to see that NOT doing skype shows ever is completely normal and standard. Like, even with a friend who's been camming longer to ask for help, this forum makes me feel so much less stupid.

Only a newcomer to the world of Webcamming, but one thing this holiday season has wondering how and when does a cam girl decide when to take a holiday most of the cam girls i have seen are extremely hard working and seem to work long hours but surely this must be tiring both physically and emotionally?

It is tiring physically and emotionally. But for many of us who depend on a consistent schedule to visit with our regulars on cam, it's a really scary thing to take a break or vacation. It is a fickle, fickle business, and being out of your routine can be devastating. Losing regulars and missing out on the potential to make new ones sometimes is too much of a risk to go on holiday.

Hello :)
I am thinking of doing my first ever raffle on MFC soon. I was wondering what a reasonable price for a ticket would be? For say a Skype show or custom video. in the past I've not kept a schedule and cammed quite irregularly so i am wondering if it will be more beneficial to price lower for a ticket or not.
Thanks

Totally understand the desire to keep working and maintaining your regulars but it must reach the point where you must need a break to refresh and absence does make the heart grow fonder in theory! I follow a couple of the camgirls who a little more cerebral which i personally enjoy nothing more attractive than an intelligent and articulate woman. They give good pre warnings when they are going on holiday and i find it quite refreshing and very enjoyable when they return and are usually revitalised. If only it was this was for most of the cam girls! I am in awe of some of the cam girls who work relentless hours but are still in total control of their rooms.

Raffles another way of engaging regulars who would tip you anyway. If you aren't on regularly, people will be less likely to buy tickets, since they don't know if they'll see you again.

I wish I had found this when I still had new cam status on MFC! I probably could have come out of it with a better camscore, but websites like Chaturbate intimidated me, and for some reason MFC didn't. So now I'm sticking it out now that I know a whole lot more. I'll get back over 1000 one day! Just gotta work for it.

This was wonderful. Thanks so much!

This whole thread has been crazy helpful. I've been lurking and researching for about a week while i set everything up for myself. I want it done right if im doing it at all and I'm so afraid to ask questions because i don't want to be perceived as asking for too many handouts. That search bar has become my best friend as of late. Thank you so much for putting this thread together. Its a lifesaver!

Can anyone point me in the direction (maybe a thread or if anyone has pointers) of what to do when the chat room is slow ^3^; I guess that is currently my struggle. I get enough viewers coming and going, and people saying hi and staying. But even when I'm chatting I feel like everyone else is too quiet. ^^; I want to be able to balance a chill atmosphere and still make some tokens while doing it and silence can be quite frightening sometimes >.<

So, I took a huge dive camscore wise on mfc because of my school and work schedules giving me hell, constant call ins for work, and living with my family. Everyone wants cum shows at night but that's when I have to be quiet and my cam score is down in the 700's. Part of me wants to just go to chaturbate for a little and work on there and come back to MFC but I don't want to lose the connections I have now.

VERY useful information. I am enjoying the forum very much so far! I guess my confusion is to how long do I stay on cam. I have read that a newbie should only stay a few hours, especially if the tokens aren't flowing, so as to no mess with your scores. I have also read that a newbie should be on as much as possible to get to know people and build up regulars. I have been doing split shift camming I run from 10am-1pm est and 9 pm-12am est. I thought maybe I wasn't building my room because I wasn't giving enough time to reach my daily goal so I did a day of 10am-3pm for 135 tokens, which obviously hurt my camscore. I made my goal small at 500 tkns for my show and gave them 5 hours to reach that goal. I didn;t meet goal. My camscore and ranks have suffered and I am not quite sure what to do to pick them up. I have just really found the useful tools of social media and I have lowered my tip menu. Now I am not sure should I only stay a few hours or should I stay a whole day.

So useful! I took advantage of the info on this forum before I started camming a little over a week ago on MFC, and I'm happy to say having this information has brought me a lot of success. Currently at a camscore of 1850 and Miss MFC #711 (I hope I don't sound boastful, just grateful and proud here), I'm very grateful for all the lovely people who have made such valuable keys to success available to to-be cam folk. I still have much to learn, and I'm excited to!

Today I took the advice here, and grabbed my broadcast by the balls! I let them know I wasn't here to chat, that I was there to make my goal for us all. I stepped a little out of my norm, and today was successful. It wasn't perfect, but it was a good day!! Thanks everyone!!

Thank you so much for that advice. The first time I went live, I received over 1000 tokens within an our and lately it's been dropping. That could also be because I can only go online on the weekends since I have college. That was a big motivator for me. I'm really looking forward to diving into my entrepreneur abilities and skills.

I hope this is the right forum to ask about the Lovense toys or any toys similar to that. I want to give one of my premium members a Skype show and a porno of myself playing with a Lovense toy, when that member buys one for me. How could this transaction happen? Would I have to give my address to them? I know other models have already received a toy like that from a premium member. I'd like to know if there is any safe way this could happen.

redundant, but for good reason! you covered SO MUCH that newbies need to know! i got the fake tip scam when i was brand new on mfc in 2012...super embarrassing LOLOL! felt so stoopid. but even i went and took a couple notes of amazing advice from the original post!

yasssss! good luck. it's ALWAYS a good idea to do excessive research beforehand when it comes to the adult industry and sex work. stripper forever but i still dint begin camming forever bc i wanted to make sure i had done enough research. good luck hun!

Hi there! I am new to all this. Though I was a stripper for about 10 years, so I am not new to the industry necessarily. A few nights ago my guy and I started a couples cam in CB just to give it a testing out. I think we did ok. We got about 1k subscribers, and at one point we had 1900 in our room. I want to get some good advice so we don't flop, and only do better. I am glad I found this site so I could gain some more insight and knowledge. This is just the thread I need! Once I am comfortable knowing what to do, I will be branching off and having my own private show. :)

I know most models on here are on token based sites but for those of us on private based i.e. streamate, jasmine(are there others?), do you guys have advice for us. I started on chaturbate which is a completely different vibe and people like to be entertained it seemed but streamate is totally different. I make more money but my earnings have dropped since my new model status left but I still make more than I did on cb. How do you keep people in your room and get more privates?

Oh and thank you for making this thread. It's super helpful!

What's this about new model status dropping? I didn't know that happened. I'm worried now lol xx
