TLR - Check your Visitors # instead of Member Tkn/RP Count
...steps out from the shadows.
Greetingz!
First time poster, so please forgive any trespasses the etiquette of this board.
I've been known to unintentionally come across as a bit crass, so I'll apologize in advance for that as well.
Allow me to preface this post with the following; MFC is a site where models "work" and members "play".
I'm using quotes not in a derogatory fashion, but to illustrate the different perceptions involved in this realm.
Otherwise, this is a great topic. Allow me to strip-out the emotion & paraphrase a bit.

members...why...[do]...you...[visit]...a...room...without tipping...?
Jo_Bunny also noted the frustrating intersection of circumstance when member(s) posses a significant amount of tokens, and it's been a considerably slow night. Then of course there's the interesting notion of members "hiding" certain details of their current and previous financial exploits.
To avoid rambling with vague over-sweeping generalizations about the massive multinational user-base that frequents MFC versus the fraction of said user-base that happens to set up camp here at ACF and finally attempting to compare the two clearly distinct groups, I'll just say this;
1) They have not decided those tokens are for you, or
2) They have already decided they are for someone else
That's it. Plain and simple.
Now this brings up two questions - How do you affect the former or the latter?
Former
Swaying fortune in your favor when a decision has not yet been made is far easier than challenging a decision that's been already cast before entering your realm of influence.
For the former - I can only speak to myself and my own habits. If I have a large number (several hundred plus), and have no prior self-imposed commitments, I'm more apt to "cruse the rooms". If I meet someone that piques my curiosity, I'll stop and listen.
If I like what I hear. What I read. If I bump into another member I know. I may tip.
If there's a posted goal, I may contribute to the cause.
One thing I can say, and I'm sure many members agree - There's no defined criteria for me and tipping.
No set formula. No "Rules". No forms or guidelines.
I deal with those aplenty at the office, it's refreshing to be random for a little while.
Latter
If the one holding the proverbial purse-strings had already made a self-imposed decision to reserve coin for someone else, that's a tough nut to crack. At that point it becomes a battle of willpower between the member's desire to keep their goal, and the model's desire to meet her own.
Regarding Suggestions Such as "Hiding" Token/Reward Points or "Guesting" Through Rooms
In a word, "No". Here I can generalize on this topic as it pertains to well-established behavioral patterns.
Most members will not dig into the mass that is the "My Account" or "Personal Options" pages. Ever.
Raise your hand if you're still using the default theme that came with Windows 7.
Exactly my point.
As for browsing in "Guest Mode", I don't personally chose to do this because if I *am* waiting for someone to come online, I don't need to miss that. Also, if I don't see certain members or models, I'll leave. There's a billion other sites out on the wires here. The entire concept of "Guesting" doesn't strike me as effective.
Remember, being able to see the token and resource point scores of members is a two-edged sword.
Don't focus on the "bad" edge (slow nite + guys with tokens in the room, yet not tipping).
The feature has a multitude of benefits, one being that as a model you'll have a better (though not completely clear) idea if a member is attempting to defraud you. Were the inverse true; if members could see how many tokens a model made in real-time, that *might* help evenly distribute the token-based wealth. However it's unrealistic to assume that MFC's user-base is a direct reflection on the human population as a whole (Read: Most visitors to MFC are not monetarily generous, else the F would not stand for "Free")
However, larger groups of members, specifically Premium members, tend to have more "high rollers". So it comes down to
how many members are in your room, not how many tokens are sitting there.
Avoid the "Mario Mindset" - Member's are not boxes you can [headbutt] open and take the tokens out.
Though I have little doubt were that the case it wouldn't immediately become a fetish.
