It's required for any payment method. I get paid by direct deposit, I still have to give my address. And regardless of your payment method, they still need to send you a 1099 for your earnings so you can file taxes.

Tax and legal reasons.

This; taxes. I work in finance; I manage TONS of crypto portfolios and do a lot of crypto day-trading on my own time. The IRS and SEC are taking very draconian positions toward crypto now that it's starting to see adoption and the gov is recognizing that blockchain tech actually has formidable scalability.

Chaturbate has to report their contractors' incomes, regardless of the medium. Bitcoin is legally considered 'property' and thus is a taxable asset - even when not converted to fiat currency e.g. if you trade Bitcoin for another crypto - say, Ethereum or Monero - you still have to pay taxes on any capital gains accrued.

Bitcoin is anonymous (well, pseudonymous, technically), but you still have to pay taxes on it.

Bitcoin is not really antonymous; it is to all intents and purposes for Joe Ordinary, but it's not anon if they really really want to find out and have the resources to do so.

The above post is accurate - payments are income, and any income (above thresholds) taxable. Even speculating on bitcoin should (will) attract capital gains tax (i.e. tax on the gains in value on your investment) - just like the stock market. Being "anon" doesn't exempt you from laws or your legal responsibilities. Otherwise buying illegal items (weapons, drugs) with bitcoin would mean you've not broken a law - because it's "anon" payment. Of course you have...
